Story
Aren't I gorgeous? My name is Poppy and I'm a purebred Australian Cattle Dog. Over a year ago, I came from Texas and less than an hour after arriving at FMAR, I gave birth to six healthy puppies. As you can imagine, I was very stressed and it took me a long time to develop bonds with staff and volunteers. As more and more of our volunteers got to know me, I started to show them my loveable and playful side. My new owners should have experience or knowledge with my breed and be willing to be extremely patient since I'm shy and afraid of strangers. I'm not comfortable with a new person reaching to pet me or putting a leash on me. It may take a few hours, days, or even weeks to rub my belly - but if you're patient it will be worth the wait! Once I trust you, I become a wildly affectionate girl! I love to roll in the grass, splash in the water, and zoom around the yard. My favorite thing to do is to cuddle next to my favorite person. Hopefully it will be you! I'm spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $350, which covers all of the medical care I have received.**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
