Story
We heard someone say this about Rickey recently, and it just broke our hearts: "He's just kind of plain. Another big brown male dog. Nothing too special about him." But when we look into his eyes, we see something different. We see a weary traveler, a dog who's lived in filth and never had a clean home to relax in. A wounded warrior, who has scrounged for food and fought to stay alive when no one was taking care of him. A voiceless soul, who couldn't ask for help when his owner went into hospice. He and his doggy siblings were left to fend for themselves. Rickey may not be a coonhound or basset but he is absolutely the definition of a Helpless Hound. He been through so much in his 4 years, and has never known what it's like just be a dog. UNTIL NOW. Here's to you Rickey, and your new life. We are here to make sure you get to live every day to the fullest. We will make sure you know that you will be clean, fed, and have a warm home to rest your head in. We will take care of you everyday until your new family comes along. And we promise to remind you, every single day, just how special you are. This animal has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Now, he is prepared for his forever home!

Story
Arthur is a very good boy, he is just young and has a lot of energy. He needs a lot of stimulation and activity to satisfy his energy levels, or he gets into things and gets really rambunctious. He needs to be in a fenced yard where he can run around and have some playmates (human or other dogs). He tries to play with our hound, but she does not play. Things Arthur Likes/Does well: Riding in the car - he really likes the drive-through carwash Knows how to sit, especially for treats He is very loveable and sweet and has to know where his humans are all the time. He likes ice Loves rawhides and to gut toys with stuffing and squeakers. Doesnt get on the furniture Goes potty outside. I have only found one pee accident in the house. He doesn't know to tell us he needs to go out; I take him out every 2-3 hours. He sleeps through the night. What we are working on: Counter surfing Chewing shoes and pillows Not jumping Liking the crate - he has Houdini out of it every time. He does not want to go in, even though I put food and treats and toys in there. I left briefly and put the camera on - he flipped the thing completely over and managed to work himself out. He has also managed to open the door. Also has wedged his way out of our outdoor kennel (it is older). Walking on a leash. He does have a strong prey drive and has found two turtles already He doesn't know his name and doesn't know how to come when called yet, so I keep him on a leash when outside since we don't have a fenced yard. When we are working outside, I will put him on a line. He chewed through the leash while on the line, and I thought I had lost him. Luckily, he came back.
