Woof! Julia here, the quirky and lovable adventure enthusiast in search of my perfect pack! I'm not one to sit around; walks, hikes, and camping are my jam! But here's the catch – I'm not a fan of being left alone. I crave a family that's home more often, 'cause snuggles are my superpower. Oh, and did I mention my foster brother? Backyard romps are a blast with him! I may be active, but I'm all about gentle cuddles too. If you're up for a playful yet affectionate companion, let's embark on a journey of laughter and love together! 🐾❤️Submit your application today at www.southcharlottedogrescue.com!

Story
What can we say about Neena?  Well, we can tell you a lot! Neena was originally surrendered to an animal shelter at 3 months of age.  At 6 months, she was finally adopted, but sadly, she was returned 3 months later when her adoptive family had some medical issues. They realized that they were not able to give Neena the full attention and care she needed. During her three months in a home, Neena was DNA tested. The results were that she is 31.3 % Australian Cattle Dog, 22% German Shepherd Dog, and 21% Boxer. The rest is unknown. We were told that Neena enjoys camping, walking, meeting other dogs and getting a ton of belly rubs.  We are happy that we have the opportunity to help Neena find another family that will help her continue to grow, throw her a frisbee or ball - which are her favorite activities in the world – and give her all the attention and exercise she needs.  If you are interested in adopting Neena, please submit an inquiry directly with Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. ***Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to meet/pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt.***May 2, 2024, 3:25 pm

I’m Tuxedo, a 2- to 3-year old cattle dog mix with the most gorgeous eyes! I’m a love bug who likes to lean into my people with all 40 pounds of me, or climb into a lap when one’s available.I came to the Humane Society as a stray. I’m still new to the shelter and haven’t made new dog friends yet, but I joined the other HSYC dogs for a long trek along the Riverwalk recently. I’m a great leash-walker and car rider!I’m up to date on vaccines and preventions, neutered and microchipped. If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Story
“You can’t resist reading Pointer’s profile  because he is so darn cute, but Pointer isn’t for everyone. Pointer is a Blue Heeler mix, weighing in at less than 30 lbs. Just like bigger herding dogs, Pointer likes to chase, herd, nip heels and is very strong-willed. Pointer needs lots of exercise and must have mental stimulation throughout the day. He enjoys learning commands and working on his obedience commands and would make an excellent agility, nose work, scent work or other sport participant. Pointer is not a couch potato and when left to entertain himself, he can get into trouble. Pointer needs a person who is experienced with herding breeds or dogs who are competitive in sports and are not put off by his strong personality.  With the right person, Pointer can be the ultimate friend!  I would not be a candidate for an apartment, condo/townhome or a home without a fence. If interested in giving me a forever home please complete an application at www.safeanimalhaven.com Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler Characteristics Standing between 17 to 20 inches at the shoulder, the Australian Cattle Dog is a sturdy, hard-muscled herder of strength and agility. The ACD is born with a white coat that turns blue-gray or red. Both coat varieties feature distinctive mottling or specking patterns. ACDs have immense work drive and excel at hunting, chasing, and, of course, moving livestock. Their boundless energy and supple gait make them excellent running partners.ACDs are true-blue loyal, famously smart, ever alert, and wary of strangers. If an ACD isn’t challenged, he easily becomes bored and gets into mischief. It is recommended that ACD owners participate with their dog in some work, sport, or regular exercise to keep him mentally and physically fit.April 21, 2024, 12:08 am

Story
Hello and meet Zion ! We acquired him at a shelter in Chicago July 2020 years ago when he was around 1 year old. He will be 5 years old in July. We are looking for a safe, fun and outdoor type environment for Zion so he can thrive. We have been unable to give him the time he deserves since I work full time. My wife and I have a 2.5 year old child, and my wife recently gave birth to twins end of March. Zion needs an environment that could include another pet to play with, frequent trips to the park and an outdoor area to run around. Zion is an incredible dog and well trained. He is a very happy, uplifting dog that is good with people, dogs and children. He is definitely high energy that goes along with his breed of cattle dog, husky and maybe some german shepherd in him. He is playful, likes pets and very very loyal. Also a great hiking dog! This is an extremely tough decision for us but we know there is a better place out there for him so he can get more love !
