Story
Buff is around 8 months old and is not a large boy. Maybe weighs around 30 to 35 pounds.  He loves people and other dogs. He is doing well with crate training which should be continued in his new home to finish house training. He is very smart and picking it up quickly. He would do best with another dog in the home and an active family with room for him to run. He is doing well with leash training and loves toys. He also likes to fetch but is not a big fan of car rides. This boy just has a goofy, playful and loving temperament.  Buff is neutered, microchipped and current on shots and preventions. If you are interested in visiting or adopting, please submit our application at Richardsonrescue.org. For questions, please email Richardsonrescue@gmail.com. All visits require an appointment. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 8, 2025, 12:22 pm

Story
Meet Echo! Echo is a 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog boy who’s ready to charm his way into a forever home! This smart, affectionate guy is house and crate trained, and at 42 lbs full grown, he’s the perfect medium-size companion. Echo loves to play, and in true Cattle Dog fashion, he may try to herd other dogs—it’s just his natural instincts showing! He’s a quick learner who picks up new skills fast. While he can be a bit unsure in new situations at first, he warms up beautifully and shows his sweet, snuggly side once he feels comfortable. Echo loves people, thrives with positive guidance, and has the potential to be an incredible adventure buddy and cuddle partner. If you’re looking for a smart, loyal dog with tons of heart, Echo might just be your perfect match!   If you are interested in adopting Echo, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.   **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **December 8, 2025, 11:25 am

Story
Meet sweet Poppy! Poppy was found in a field with her siblings, on the verge of dying. Dehydrated, emaciated, full of parasites. Thankfully a good Samaritan got them all rounded up and called us. All were a bit shy at first but have come out of their shell and are nothing short of adorable. Cattle dog/shep mix, going to be medium size dogs we think. Born in April of this year and currently around 15 pounds. RECOMMENDATIONS & PROCEDURES Please note, the following are recommendations for puppies and different breeds of dogs. We will evaluate each application on an individual basis to see what is best for the dog/puppy and the potential adopter. Puppies are very fragile and not toys. We recommend children be at least six years old to be considered to adopt a puppy. Small breed dogs ( such as chihuahuas, yorkies, shih tzus , etc) we recommend children be at least eight years old. Herding, working breeds we recommend children to be at least 12 years old. Again these are recommendations. Adoption Procedures: We will travel up to two hours ( one way) to do physical home visits and we do not do virtual home visits. ( we are in Cleveland County NC) Most of our dogs come from bad situations and we want to know where their forever home is going to be. While we do not require fencing on all dogs, certain dogs that need a fenced in yard, will not be adopted unless potential adopter has one. We also adopt some dogs to people who live in apartments ( as long as the landlord approves) but not all dogs. We do not adopt to anyone under 21 years of age. We also do not feel college students are the best fit for most of our dogs. Most of our dogs again, come from bad situations and need lots of attention. Most college students have financial responsibilities and we feel need to be focused on school. Our goal is to match the dog with a family that fits the dog’s needs. We are solely focused on what is best for each dog in our rescue. These dogs have had enough moving around, dumped out like trash, and we want to ensure they find their forever home. We do require you sign a contract and if at any time you cannot continue to provide for the dog, the dog comes back to the rescue. Your first step to adoption is filling our our on line application. You will then get an automated email stating we got your application Next our adoption coordinator will be in touch either by phone or email If your references check out, a home visit will be scheduled. After the home visit is done, a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in and/or any other available dogs we have will be scheduled If the dog and you are a match, contract will be signed and you may take your new family member home. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
MEET MILLIE!STATS: 3 years old, spayed, Black Australian Shepherd MixAFFECTION/ENERGY LEVEL: My little nub tail wiggles at a million miles a minute! I have a good amount of energy, love playing with the other pups my size, and I will immediately roll over for belly rubs when I see a person! My energy level is the perfect balance of chill and independent with a little spunk for other dogs thrown in the mix. When it comes to spending time with my humans, I am super laid back and would be totally content sitting at your feet and getting scratches. I also like to smile with my front teeth when I am super happy (you’ll have to meet me to understand!)WHAT I LOVE: I LOVE belly rubs! If we make eye contact with you, it’s almost guaranteed that I will roll over and beckon you for tummy scratches. I also love to sploot my legs out behind me in the cool grass.KIDS: I don’t have any previous history with kids, but I recently did great at an event with children! As long as they are respectful of my space, I would be a very good girl!OTHER DOGS: I`m dog-friendly and enjoy the company of other dogs! I go to playgroup here at the shelter! I prefer dogs of my own size, though. I am a heeler, after all!CATS: UnknownHER MATCH: If you want to lay around and be lazy together, take the occasional long walk, play outside a little, and come back inside for more lazy cuddles, you just might be my type! I have done wonderfully at events in social situations – I pretty much just laid around and waited for people to come pet me. I am also known around the shelter for being a great walker because I just love spending time with the people here!SPECIAL NOTE: From my adorable nub tail to my toothy smile, I am absolutely precious!Complete an online application and get pre-approved to adopt at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/PetAdoptionSurvey. Once you complete the app, a staff member will call you in 1-2 business days once approved to set up a time for you to meet the pet you are interested in.Every adoptable pet is Spayed or Neutered, implanted with a microchip, current on age appropriate vaccinations including a current 1-year Rabies Vaccination, and current on monthly Flea/tick prevention, and heartworm prevention for dogs. Story
Socks is 9 months old and weighs 40 pounds and we were told he is a Husky/Shepherd mix. He has a wonderful, gentle temperament even though he is a little shy on first meeting. He is great with other dogs and loves to play with them. We are working with him a a leash and he is picking it up pretty quickly and he will need house training in his new home. He is very smart and picks up new things pretty quickly. He can get over a chain link fence so he needs supervision in the yard or a privacy fence. As long as you are with him or he has other dogs to play with, we have no issues here. After time and training and learning his home, this will calm down. He likes water, toys and is good with car rides. He has also been around children with no issues. He should do well with most any active family. Socks is neutered, microchipped and current on shots and preventions. If you are interested in adopting, please submit our application at Richardsonrescue.org.
