Story
Critter Cavalry Rescue is trying to help several dogs like Lyla out of a small rural shelter that is cramped and hard on the spirit of the kind of dog like Lyla.  She came to the shelter as an owner surrender forced by the animal control of the shelter.   She and her sister were being crated 24.7 just about and this was negligent and cruel.  She has been in this little shelter for almost 3 months now and her Blue Heeler spirit is just being stifled to get out and have some time to roam a yard, go for a fun run of fetch the ball or just be sleeping on a soft cozy dog bed at your feet.  It is just hard on the spirit when these dogs are stashed away and unnoticed and very little attention except to feed them.  She is 1-2 years old and 38 pounds.  She is mostly Heeler from what we can tell but on the darker side and she is warm and friendly but cautious too because of the confinement she has experienced.  Help us if you love the breed or love rescuing and fostering or even adopting.  She is fully vetted and ready to go!  Email us at  ccrnewengland@gmail.com   It is time to free Lyla! PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 14, 2024, 9:01 pm

Story
We are so excited to introduce this girl called Red Shasta, a 1 year old 48 pound, Red Heeler that is one of the best girls you would ever want to adopt. She was dropped in the countryside of a small Tennessee town near a man’s home who took all three Heelers in to give them a safe place and food and water in this heat.  Soon he realized that he could not keep all three and get them vetted with his limited income.  He took them to a shelter that proceeded to call Critter Cavalry Rescue since we are such fans of the breed.  We have vowed to help them find wonderful homes and Red Shasta is on her way to finding that with this posting.  She is currently in a foster home with a big, older German Shepherd and they play like brother and sister.  She is housebroken, gentle and easy to have around and she is not at all one of the dominant “large and in charge personalities.  She is crate trained and always wears a smile to share with everyone.  She is cat friendly and  you can see how delightfully charming she is the first few minutes of meeting her.  Red Shasta is a stunning example of why the breed is so popular with dog savvy and active people.  They are a sponge for soaking up things to learn and they will make you feel like the most important person on the planet or at least in her world you will be.  Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue about this girl at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.July 14, 2024, 9:01 pm

Story
Referred to by many as a “Handsome Boy,”Cassius is an active and incredibly smart boy, who’s pastimes include: chasing squirrels in the yard, munching on a chew toy, flashing his puppy dog eyes for treats and curling up with his person(s) for a nap. Cash’s energy and desire to please his owner, pair well with his healthy appetite - Food incentives, obedience training and puzzles are a sure way to get this boy tired out. Cassius is playful, sporty and incredibly loyal to his people - the perfect outdoorsy companion for an active family of adults or older children. Those with a fenced in yard, ready to play fetch and be loved by this sweet boy, could be the perfect fit. Cassius has been a blessing to our family, however he would thrive best in a single dog household - a need we ourselves could not meet for him. He is otherwise a happy, healthy, house and crate-trained pup looking for his forever home. If you think Cash could be the one, don’t hesitate to take the next step!

Story
“You can’t resist reading Pointer’s profile  because he is so darn cute, but Pointer isn’t for everyone. Pointer is a Blue Heeler mix, weighing in at less than 30 lbs. Just like bigger herding dogs, Pointer likes to chase, herd, nip heels and is very strong-willed. Pointer needs lots of exercise and must have mental stimulation throughout the day. He enjoys learning commands and working on his obedience commands and would make an excellent agility, nose work, scent work or other sport participant. Pointer is not a couch potato and when left to entertain himself, he can get into trouble. Pointer needs a person who is experienced with herding breeds or dogs who are competitive in sports and are not put off by his strong personality.  With the right person, Pointer can be the ultimate friend!  I would not be a candidate for an apartment, condo/townhome or a home without a fence. If interested in giving me a forever home please complete an application at www.safeanimalhaven.com Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler Characteristics Standing between 17 to 20 inches at the shoulder, the Australian Cattle Dog is a sturdy, hard-muscled herder of strength and agility. The ACD is born with a white coat that turns blue-gray or red. Both coat varieties feature distinctive mottling or specking patterns. ACDs have immense work drive and excel at hunting, chasing, and, of course, moving livestock. Their boundless energy and supple gait make them excellent running partners.ACDs are true-blue loyal, famously smart, ever alert, and wary of strangers. If an ACD isn’t challenged, he easily becomes bored and gets into mischief. It is recommended that ACD owners participate with their dog in some work, sport, or regular exercise to keep him mentally and physically fit.July 14, 2024, 12:16 am

Story
Hi I’m Ellie! I am a 4 year old mut, I do have a lot of Cattle dog in me though! I used to live with my big family, we had 3 other dogs it was great! My mom had a baby, I love her. 2 of the dogs got very protective of the baby and attacked me for no reason! I haven’t seen them since. Now I’m sad and nervous because I miss my friends even though they hurt me. Mom’s baby tries to come see me but I’m just too nervous now, I love the baby but I keep growling at her. I’m not aggressive I’m just stressed. Now mom has another baby in her belly and it makes me nervous too. If you have a home with no little babies or other big dogs would you consider helping me? Mom is very sad right now but she’s helping me find a home that I won’t be as nervous in. Since I’m growling at the human baby she says I need to find a home very fast or I’ll have to go to a no kill shelter or have to have me sleep forever at home with them she has no other choice. Please help me!

Momma Donna is a Kelpie/Heeler mix girl that gave birth 3 months ago to 8 beautiful, wonderful Heeler puppies. This girl is 2 years old and only 42 pounds.  She is amazingly smart and seems to know exactly what you are saying to her.  We think that Momma Donna would be a perfect addition to a home with children who want to play and teach a dog some good tricks and manners.  She is willing to learn anything. Momma Donna is nicely housebroken and ready for a totally great and new life.  Momma Donna just needs a place to belong.   So, do you have a front porch and a hole in your heart ready to be filled by a loving and devoted dog who wants to walk down the road with you every day?   Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested in Momma Donna.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.July 14, 2024, 9:01 pm

Story
We are trying to help this sweet girl called Bonnie Belle to find a home since her elderly parents are in failing health and cannot care for their five dogs.  Bonnie Belle is a mix of some interesting breeds.  We think she has some Aussie and maybe Boxer in her.  The Australian Shepherd trait is what makes her a protector of the yard and home when strangers approach.  She is the home security dog officer!   This girl is losing her home because her elderly parents have fallen into bad health.  Bonnie Belle is 4 years old and weighs a little over 40 pounds.  She adores people and is good with the other dogs that she spends time with in the fenced yard.  She is housebroken, affectionate and a devoted girl to her family.  If you would like to give Bonnie her next forever home, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue who is helping her at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.July 14, 2024, 9:01 pm

Story
Lora Lee is a very sweet dog that is just 2 years old and weighs 35 pounds.  She is said to be an Aussie mix with some Terrier.  Whatever the mix is we think she is a most unusual and truly a beautiful girl who well with other dogs in her foster home.  She is a friend to all and apparently she is house trained as long as taken out regular. Lola Lee is crate trained but cannot be left for long hours in the crate.  She is not leash trained  but is trying to improve.   We are requesting that applicants have a fenced yard for her because she is an active girl that needs to run and play with freedom and not at the end of a leash only. This beauty loves to cuddle and be by your side like your BFF and shadow. If you have another dog that would be great for her to have a playmate that can help her wear out her energy every day.  Lola Lee is a great girl and she is going to need an active family that can challenge and meet her need for exercise and be able to keep up with her.   She is really not a dog for a retirement couple that are ready to have a more laidback dog with fewer exercise demands.  If you are interested in this girl please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.July 14, 2024, 9:01 pm
