Story
Dodge is a toung, strikingly handsome Blue Heeler/Lab mix with a bright spirit to match his good looks. About one year old and weighing 43 pounds, this mostly black shiny boy has a beautiful gray-speckled chest that gives him a regal, eye-catching look. With longer legs and a slimmer build than a typical Heeler, he carries himself with confidence and athletic grace. Whatever breeds make up his DNA, one thing is certain — Dodge is sweet, playful, and incredibly smart.   Dodge’s story began in the countryside, where he arrived at a rental home alongside a female Heeler mix and their six puppies. When the family couldn’t keep dogs, a cattle dog rescue stepped in to save the puppies, the mama was rehomed, and Dodge found his way to Critter Cavalry Rescue so he could be fully vetted and matched with the perfect home. Still very much a puppy at heart, Dodge brings goofy charm, happy energy, and a love of life wherever he goes. A fenced yard and an active household will help him burn off his enthusiasm and enjoy the adventures he craves.   He gets along wonderfully with dogs of all ages and sizes, is respectful of cats, and would likely be a hit with kids who can keep up with his playful nature. Dodge is learning leash skills quickly and would make an excellent walking partner. He’s eager to learn, quick to please, and happiest when he’s close to his people, watching over them and soaking up attention. With continued training, Dodge is going to be an incredible lifelong companion. If you’re ready for a fun, smart, and loyal sidekick, email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us your city and state. Transport is available from Tennessee to the northeastern states. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 6, 2026, 11:52 pm

Story
Meet Hobart! Hobart is a handsome 5-year-old, 65-lb hound/heeler mix. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and heartworm negative—ready for his forever home! He’s crate trained, housebroken, e-collar trained, walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, and gets along with most other dogs (especially larger ones). He is a loyal companion with a big, endearing personality. Hobart loves going for walks and would make an excellent adventure partner. Thanks to his e-collar training, his recall is solid, and he enjoys exploring the outdoors just as much as he loves relaxing on the couch with his people. Hobart would do best with an active individual or couple who is willing to continue providing structure, consistency, and training and would thrive in a home without kids, cats, or other small animals. Hobart’s only challenge is occasional resource guarding, but with the right environment and owners who understand his boundaries, he will flourish.

Story
Duchess was born March 12, 2025 in Hampton. My roommate ended up not fixing either of his dogs, so there was a litter of nine I ended up taking care of; then my husband and I ended up keeping two. We’re first time puppy owners, and I’m the primary caretaker, but I have pretty intense back problems. Duchess is very rambunctious and highly food-motivated; she’s also very sweet and loves to snuggle. She is crate-trained, and knows a few basic commands, as well as a few others such as “gentle” and “off.” She plays pretty rough with her brother, but has shown to be respectful of other dogs’ boundaries when playing with them. My husband and I aren’t in a position to take care of two very energetic puppies. We didn’t do our research beforehand, and we definitely bit off more than we can chew.

However, he is not very friendly with other dogs. The most he’s done has been bark and snap at another dog close to him, but he hasn’t given chase. My husband and I aren’t in a position to give him the training he needs. We didn’t do our research beforehand, and we definitely bit off more than we can chew. He needs a loving home with a lot of attention.

Story
MAX - 6 years old, kid/cat/dog social, typical cattle dog behavior   Max is a vibrant and active boy surrendered for being too hyper and needing more room for his energy.   This dog needs exercise, playtime and room to move.  This dog needs exercise, playtime and room to move.  This dog needs exercise, playtime and room to move.    Reinforcing the fact that this boy is always on the move, please do some research on cattle dogs bc they, like all other breeds, have specific characteristics which may or may not align with your family's lifestyle.   Max is fun. He is the one bouncing off the walls. He is ready to go at all times.   He was silly in our shelter playgroup yard with the other dogs. He ran and chased and grabbed other dogs in his cattle dog style... always with a smile on his face!   Max is also great with children and cats.   He has some separation anxiety and is known to be destructive in the home if left alone. We recommend crating in these instances. PS He is already crate trained so there you go!   If you have done your research on the breed and feel Max would fit in perfectly with you and your family, come on in to meet him!  He is currently in a back kennel so if you don't see him, please just ask!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 30, 2025, 9:42 am
