Story
Shep is a sweet goofy boy who is looking for his people to hang and go on adventures with. This boy is a big goofball and loves attention. Shep has good manners and listens well. He is good with other dogs, does well in the car and is crate trained. He is such a good boy! Shep is working on house and leash training and doing well and is a little unsure of loud noises. He is doing well learning basic commands. He is definitely on the submissive side and is looking for a soft spot to lay in and a person to hang out with. Shep is the victim of some bad breeding but he hold no grudges. He just wants a family to call his own. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. Story
Amigo is a beautiful Australian Shepherd//Border Collie mix. He is 6 years old and approximately 50lbs. Amigo is a sweet, playful boy that loves all people. He is good with other dogs but can be a bit bossy with dogs that are more laid back or shyer than he is, he also loves his toys and can be a bit nippy over a squeaky ball. He is also very treat motivated. He loves attention and to be brushed and really wants a person of his own to love and cuddle. Amigo is such a happy and handsome boy and is unique with one white eyebrow. He is crate trained but not fond of the crate. He walks ok on a leash and likes to go on car rides. Amigo has pretty good manners but needs work on his recall and can be hard headed. He is house trained but because he wasn't neutered until recently, he will try to mark so he will need consistent training to get through this. He is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on prevention, and microchipped. Amigo's perfect home would be one as an only dog or one with a dog of even temperament. He has not been around cats while at his foster home so we are not sure how he would do. We do recommend kids over the age of 10 year old since he is so playful and may knock over smaller ones. He is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and neutered. If he sounds perfect for your family, please fill out the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever home. Story
Buble is a 2yr old aussie mix of some sort. He is weighed in at 32lbs full grown with a lean stature at last vet appt. Great with other dogs and confident cats (he wants to play and bark at them if they run). Buble would do best in a home with a confident dog to play and snuggle with. Great with people but can be protective of his person and home so needs a family that can show him it's safe and he doesn't have to worry when someone new comes over.  Housebroken. Full grown. Fully vetted.  All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped. This is all included in their adoption fee that goes in as a donation to help us cover their medical costs and continue to help other animals in need. Story
Meet Dunkel He is a 4 year old Australian Shepherd who came to us through no fault of his own. ‍ He is a playful and energetic boy who just wants to be loved and treated like part of the family — he will follow you everywhere. He is super smart and good with other dogs. He absolutely loves going on long walks and being outside and has some favorite toys he plays with.  We are working with him on potty training since he been an outside dog most of his life and he is doing great! He does not like to be crated, but has shown no destructive behavior when left outside of a crate.  Dunkel would best thrive in an active home where he can be walked and played with often as well as loved at all times (he loves giving hugs!) He still needs to be fully vetted, but we are taking applications. All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped. Story
Nick is a 4yr old male Australian Shepherd weighing 50lbs, he is neutered and up to date on vaccinations and heartworm and flea/tick medication. Crate trained and potty trained. Nick is a sweet velcro dog when you're up and doing stuff, but independent when you're not. He absolutely loves people & loves pets, can't get enough love, and will ask for more pets with his paw if you stop. He's great about chewing his chew toys. And if he picks up things he's not allowed to chew one voice correction and he leaves it alone for good. He is great in the car for both short and long rides. He doesn't need to be tethered, and is not a fan of harnesses that go over the head anyway. Collars are fine, harnesses need some work if you prefer using harnesses. He is a very, very low maintenance aussie loves whatever attention and walks he gets, does not require a lot of exercise. He is a 4yr old puppy that just needs someone to put some training into him. He has gotta overstimulated in the yard from passing dogs, but some minor work on making the yard a place to play & poop only, instead of a place to guard, will be required for his new home, especially if he is living with other doggies. And he's already getting better each day. Previously we thought Nick would be best in an only dog home, due to his protection of the yard, that made him turn on his female foster dog siblings, however, after talking with a trainer who said it was a normal reaction, and spending a good month working with him he is doing really well. And just came back from a camping trip with his 2 foster dog siblings, and did extremely well both living & walking in a brand new place with them. Any homes with new dogs will require very slow introductions for him, and his foster will be glad to walk his new family through the process that they used. He'll take some work, but it's more than worth it for this sweet boy. He can be with cats but should still be watched and not left alone, he does well just gets excited and up their butts when they interact with him. He has 6 foster cats that currently live in the house with him and does just fine, but is still learning, doesn't chase them, just very, very nosey. He has no interest in birds, he lives around peacocks and has walked on long leash near them with no interest. He's shy around the horses, but walks passed them with no issues. He can be a bit nippy if you step over him, and gets nippy when giving treats, so older kids between 13yrs to 15yrs of age are preferred if he lives with them, or any visit the home. He is fed separately from his foster siblings because he is a gobbler and tends to be self conscious when other dogs are too close when he eats. He hasn't resource guarded anything from anyone yet, but he stays in his cage for feedings and eats out of a slow feeder so he doesn't throw it up and doesn't feel like he has to rush or protect it from anyone. He is also a little sensitive in the back end, we don't believe it's pain, at least not according to the vet. But he's just sensitive about his back end and is slowly coming around and not being as flinch or offended when being touched back there. His foster is giving him some joint supplement anyways to help prevent joint issues in the future. He is great walker, does need more experience walking on a leash, as it appears he hasn't had a lot of experience on leash. Walks great alone or with his siblings, he's still learning to "let's go and leave it" when other dogs are near by or pass by but is doing extremely well, no aggression towards them just gets excited which can lead to confusion. He knows sit, stay, leave it, up (to get in cars or the camper), paw, and is just now learning a recall, and working on down. He is working on getting into some herding classes soon, so he can learn to do a new job, and to see if its something he likes. Requirements: - Aussie knowledgeable home as he has some aussie quirks - More training - Fenced yarn until he solidifies a recall - If in a home with or visited by children 13yrs to 15yrs old preferred smaller kids would not be well suited for him - Friendly non-dominate female dog(s) - Cats okay but should be watched and worked with for a while. - Meet and greet Located in New Port Richey, FL If Nick sounds perfect for you, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family. Story
Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- St. Petersburg, FL Parker is an 3 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs 40 lbs. He is up to date on shots, but isn’t neutered or on heartworm prevention. Parker is nervous around strangers! He is good with children and dogs! He hasn’t been tested around cats. Parker has bitten the owner twice and his wife once. The first time he bit the owner was in November 2023. The owner went to pick up a toy while Parker was under a chair, which led to Parker biting his left foot. Parker also bit his wife on a separate occasion while she was petting him on the couch. She tried to push him away and he bit her left arm. The most recent bite was on 6/12/24. The owner came home late. Parker was sitting in the hallway against the wall. The owner tried getting close to him, resulting Parker biting his left hand. The owner is surrendering him because of these bite incidents. They’re also expecting a baby. He needs to find a new furever home as soon as possible! If you think you can provide a great home for Parker, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Parker. Owner’s Contact Information: Rodrigo at rodoliveirarealtor@gmail.com.
