Story
Update from her foster mom: She is a great pup & will make a loyal companion. She is my shadow in the house! She is very affectionate, curious, sweet & playful. LOVES playing with our other dogs.LOVES toys & chew bones. She is very food motivated & smart- & thus easy to train. Still working on house training (that is more our fault than hers) but getting better, comes when called, sits on command, knows “crate” (& is very good in her crate). Alrighty, who is ready for some adventure? This gorgeous girl for sure! Meet Summer! She is a young mixed breed, maybe 12 months, and currently about 25-30 lbs. She has gorgeous med. hair with brindle coloring, a nubby tail, and beautiful brown eyes! Her vet records say Australian Shepherd mix. She certainly has the body size, energy, and friendly disposition. She really warms up to all people and dogs nicely. She would love hikes, maybe agility, or maybe even herding classes? How ever you choose to engage with Summer, I’m sure she will excel, she is motivated to please you! We prefer to place her in a home with a securely enclosed back yard, no toddlers, or cats. (Herding children is not looked upon favorably. 😉) If you are interested in adopting Summer who is already microchipped, spayed, tested, crate-trained, and on preventions, just email me to request an adoption application at : marysmutts05@gmail.com.

Story
Susan Meah is a stunning Australian Shepherd with a personality as vibrant as her coat. Though she's reached a stage in life where her energy is moderate, she still loves to play and show affection to the people she meets. Susan thrives on human companionship and is always ready to engage in fun activities, making her a delightful companion for someone who can match her playful spirit. Her intelligence and loyalty are hallmarks of her breed, and she's quick to form strong bonds with those she trusts. While Susan adores people, she prefers to be the only dog in her home. She has a history of not enjoying the company of other dogs, so she would do best in a household where she can be the center of attention. Described as having a great personality, Susan is a loyal and beautiful dog who would thrive in a loving, one-pet family. With her good looks and devoted nature, Susan is ready to bring joy and companionship to her forever home.

Story
Good Afternoon, I'm seeking ways to rehome my dog Ripken, a 5-year-old Australian Shepard. We are willing to go through adoption process and find him a new home. We have had an incident where Ripken has bitten a young girl. He has never bitten any family member, person that he is familiar with or guest in our home. We are looking to rehome him because my wife and I believe that we cannot risk this happening again around us. We believe that being placed in the right home, maybe with a couple or family that are not around younger children, like we are, would truly benefit Ripken and allow him to thrive throughout the rest of his life. We do not want to take the alternate choice. We take him everywhere, ball games, the park, dog beach, hiking, camping, etc. He is a loving, well behaved dog. He is smart, house trained and will do anything for a treat, tennis ball or a frisbee. He gets along well with other dogs, our cat, and has never shown any aggression towards them

Story
Courtesy post: Meet Lu: A Loyal and Energetic Companion in Need of a New Home. Contact Shelby at 410-371-3883. Lu is a 6-year-old, 45-pound, smart, and loyal dog who is very sweet to the people she loves. Despite missing one of her back legs, she doesn't require any extra care and it doesn't slow her down at all. Lu loves being outside as much as possible, but she loves being around her people even more. She enjoys chasing tennis balls and playing with toys all day long. While she has lots of energy, she also likes to lounge around and nap for a good part of the day. Lu is house-trained, although she may have accidents if left alone for long periods unless she is put in her crate. Typically, she is crated when left home alone or at night if she is not confined to the bedroom. Lu is not good around new people and should be kept on a tight leash if there is a chance of her being around someone new. With the help of treats and toys, she can warm up to new people, but she does not like chaos and loud noises, so she should be kept away from children when they are playing or roughhousing. She also tries to attack cars and bikes, so she needs to be kept on a tight leash during walks. Lu gets along well with some dogs but can be aggressive toward smaller dogs. She knows her basic commands and is very smart. If you are good with training dogs and have time to work on her behaviors, she will be a loving and loyal companion. Details: Age: 6 Weight: 45 pounds (vet appointment today at 4:30 for exact weight) Location: Phoenix, Baltimore County Contact Info: Shelby 410-371-3883 Note: Lu had one bite incident where the skin was barely broken. The gentleman was wearing thick carpenter pants, which took most of the blow. Lu was adopted from a farm in the middle of nowhere, Alabama, along with her sister, who was adopted by a friend. If you think you can provide Lu with a loving home and the training she needs, please reach out to Shelby at the provided contact information. ***Disclaimer*** Unfortunately, there are not enough rooms at the inn to admit every dog that needs a furever home. DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Penny is 2yo, weighs 50lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Penny dislikes/fears the dark and loud noises; she LOVES car rides !  Penny's guardian have spent a considerable amount of time and money to determine the underlying reason for Penny's sudden onset without success.  She and her canine sibling are currently in a training program from which they'll graduate 1 March; Penny is learning how to properly walk on leash, sit, down, stay, and place.  Although she's doing well, Penny attacked her canine sibling again recently, which prompted her guardian to keep them separated.  Penny's guardian adds:   "When she’s with just my husband or me, she’s content.  But, she is much more content and visibly happy at training & doggy daycare because she’s active.  We have 2 dogs in addition to Penny that we had before we adopted her - a 9yo lab and the 3yo lab.  Our jobs are very demanding, and it was always fine that the dogs had a more chill lifestyle until recently.  It is not fair to Penny to have to be crated or in another room because she can’t get along with our other dog anymore.  We want her to be able to run freely, be as active as she possibly can.  We are heartbroken, and this is the toughest decision we’ve ever had to make.  But in the end, it’s about her happiness and quality of life that matters most." Penny's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  Although Penny and one of her canine siblings were the best of friends, Penny has inexplicably attacked and bitten her a few times since December 2023.   Lunge/Attack/Bite Incidents:  Since December in 2023, in Hollywood, MD, Penny has attacked and bitten one of her canine sibling without provocation; the bite broke the skin, animal control was not involved and veterinary treatment was not necessary.  Penny's guardian explains:  "Penny lunged at and attacked our other dog.  Our other dog ended up with a gsh in her ear, chest, and bit marks on her front leg.  They were not severe, so we cleaned them up and they're healing." Penny's guardian states the following regarding children:  Although Penny hasn't lived with children, her guardian recommends her living with children, stating "Penny loves our two young nieces and nephew.  She is gentle with them, lays next to them, and loves when they play with her". Penny's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Penny lives with two dogs, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating "Prior to the first incident in December, we never had any issues with Penny and our dogs.  They were all the best of friends, played great together, slept on top of each other, drank out of the water bowl together, truly inseparable.  We have never had any issues with Penny with our neighbors' dogs, dogs at the vet, or groomer". Penny's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Penny lives with a cat, so her guardian recommends Penny living with cats, stating "Penny and our cat are best friends". Penny's guardian describes her as follows: Very active Couch potato Playful Friendly Fence Jumper Likes to be touched Affectionate Independent Protective Always at your side Indoor dog House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Penny's guardian described her ideal future home: "Penny would truly thrive in an active home.  Going on multiple daily walks, playing outside, going for frequent car rides, going to different parks or beaches, running and playing freely.  She would benefit from a fenced yard with lots of room for her to run and play."
