Story
It is time for Pongo to find a family to call his own - this boy is simply amazing and don't let him being deaf hold you back - I always say that deaf dogs are some of the smartest dogs and he is indeed a very smart boy. Pongo came to us in September with a fractured leg that required a specialist to repair and now you would never know anything every happened to him - of course Dr. Crouch and his staff did an amazing job - Pongo was not to happy about the strict crate rest for 8 weeks - but we managed and then it was time to neuter him and he did great for that as well. Pongo is 8 months old and weighs 40 pounds - we do not believe he will get much bigger - he is an Aussie Mix with those ice blue eyes and again he is deaf. We would prefer a fenced in yard for him as he loves to run his zoomies outside. Pongo does great with other dogs and is currently not fostered with cats - while he was recovering from his orthopedic surgery he was fostered with cats but because he was not allowed to roam freely due to healing , he never had many interactions with them - he acted curious about them but never showed any signs of aggression - this boy loves to play ball and actually loves all his toys - he is still a puppy and does have a lot of energy. His one quirk - if you want to call it that - is he can't be kenneled in a wire crate - he will chew his way out - an airline crate or impact crate is needed as we do recommend crating him if you work or leave the house for a bit as he is a puppy and will look for something to get into - he whines a little when first crated but quits quickly as he realizes he has toys in there. He is a HUGE people dog and loves every single person he meets. He is a curious boy which is not uncommon for deaf dogs - he does great on a leash and is house trained and crate trained. Pongo is current on his core vaccines, has had a full bloodwork panel done, current on heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention , dewormed, neutered and microchipped. His adoption fee is $250.00 As a reminder all of our dogs are in private foster homes throughout Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina - we do not have a facility and we do not board our dogs - the first step in our adoption process is filling out our adoption application which can be found on our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org - once the application is received and reviewed (if there are other animals in the home we do vet references and require all animals in the home to be spayed/neutered - unless there is a medical reason they can't be - up to date on vaccines and current on monthly heartworm prevention ) and then the foster will get in touch with the potential adopter - if both parties feel like it could be a good fit - we would set up a meet and greet - we never do adoptions on the spot - we do a 7-14 day trial run before finalizing any adoption to make sure it is the right fit for the dog and the family Let's find this amazing boy the perfect forever home - he is so deserving and is going to bring a lot of smiles and happiness to some very lucky family

Story
Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Waynesville, NC *This dog doesn’t belong to ASF and hasn’t been evaluated by ASF.* Meet Oliver Hamish! He is an 5 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs 55 lbs. He is neutered, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention. Oliver Hamish is good with older children! No younger children, because they make him nervous. He is good with the other dogs inside of the home, but is nervous around dogs outside of the home. He has bitten 3 times when someone was around his food. He has food aggression. The owner is surrendering him because of the bite incidents. They are also unable to provide the time and attention that he needs. He needs to go ASAP! If you think you can provide a great home for Oliver Hamish, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Oliver Hamish. Story
Bennett is 4 years old and has been a dream. Our family recently grew with a new relationship, adding 2 new dogs to the mix. Unfortunately, Bennett and one of the newly added dogs are not able to cohabitate and has created some dominance behavioral issues. Other than this specific dog, Bennett has been great with other animals, loves kittens, and is excellent with children. He does not bark at doorbells, cars driving by, etc… We are hoping to find a happy home for Bennett!

Story
Meet Carly!✨🌿 Carly is a sweet and gentle girl who can be a little shy when you first meet her. She may need some extra time to warm up, so going slow and giving her space to feel comfortable is important. Once she realizes she is safe and can trust you, her personality really begins to shine. Carly is currently considered medium energy. She enjoys staying active but also has the potential to be a wonderful, well balanced companion. She absolutely loves to run, play, and explore, and she truly benefits from being outside of the facility where she can relax and feel more at ease. Fresh air and open space help bring out the best in her. With patience, understanding, and love, Carly would make an amazing addition to the right home. If you are interested in meeting Carly and giving her the chance she deserves, please give us a call and we will be happy to set up an appointment for you to meet this special girl.

Story
Meet Cowboy! 🤠🖤💙🤍 This handsome boy is truly one of a kind. Cowboy does well on leash and was very happy to spend time outside of his kennel. He loves to run, play, and have fun with his toys. Cowboy is dog selective, so his compatibility with other dogs will depend on proper introductions and who he connects with. He is not good with cats or livestock, but he is incredibly sweet and affectionate with people. He may bark when he’s behind a barrier, but he means no harm—he’s just eager for your attention. Cowboy is housetrained and would do best in a home that understands his needs and can give him the structure and love he deserves. If you think Cowboy might be a good fit for your home, come meet him!

Story
This is a courtesy post. Please do not contact Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue for information. Contact information is provided below.Jetta is a 4-year-old Australian Shepherd (cryptic merle with white markings). She is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. She is also AKC and ASCA registered and up-to-date on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.Like many Aussis, Jetta is energetic and would need to have a fenced-in yard to run, play, and be contained. Jetta does not get along with other dogs (unsure about cats), so she would need to be the only pet in the home. Jetta has a very sweet personality and loves to be with her person - or people - but does not do well with children or strangers. In the evenings, Jetta loves to snuggle with her people on the couch.Jetta is a smart dog and knows basic obedience. She has worked with a couple of trainers over the last few years. Jetta is housetrained and views her crate as a safe place when she is not interacting with her people. She loves food/treats, attention, and playing with her toys. Jetta also enjoys walks and hikes, but may need to be muzzled due to her reactivity. She is very protective of her home and would make an excellent watch dog.The owner is surrendering her because she needs a home without any other dogs or children. Veterinarian or personal references are required. There is a rehoming fee. If you are interested in Jetta, please email angelkking@gmail.com or contact Angel at 828-429-7373.
