Story
Meet Chief Keef!! He came in as a stray on 4/11/26, and we think he is about 2 years old. Let’s just get this out of the way—this boy acts like he personally survived the Great Food Shortage of 2026. 🍗 Chief Keef came to us extremely underweight, so right now food is his entire personality. Treats? Life. Meals? Also life. Your sandwich? Definitely his business. He’s still learning that food will keep coming and he doesn’t have to go full survival mode every time snacks appear. We are currently feeding him three times a day with a slow feeder, and his future human will need to keep working on his “the food isn’t going anywhere, my guy” mindset. Because of his enthusiasm (read: absolute chaos) around food, we’re recommending no small kids—mostly because tiny humans tend to wander around holding snacks like little moving buffets. Under all that food obsession is a super sweet, friendly dog who just needs someone to show him that life is safe, meals are guaranteed, and he can finally relax. He’s going to be an amazing dog for someone willing to put in a little patience (and maybe guard their snacks for a bit). Chief Keef is available for adoption, so hurry in to meet him! Chief Keef is located at the Richland County Dog Shelter in Mansfield, OH Phone: 419-774-5892 It is an application process. You can request one via dogs@richlandcountyoh.gov

Story
Dudley like Dudley Dursley from Harry Potter… but imagine if he traded tantrums for tail wagsAt around 5 years old, this Australian Shepherd mix is the good version of Dudley. No spoiled attitude here, just a fluffy, happy boy who’s thrilled with the simple things in life… especially a tennis ball. He’s got that lovable, slightly goofy personality that makes you smile without even trying. Dudley already knows how to sit (and is pretty proud of it), and while he’s still learning what this whole “leash” thing is, he’s catching on with a little patience and guidance. He does well with cats, enjoys his playtime, and has a sweet, easygoing nature that makes him a great companion for someone looking for a loyal buddy. His adoption fee is $54 that includes, a 2026 Holmes county license, leash, collar, treats and toys If you’re ready for a Dudley who chose kindness over chaos, this fluffy guy is ready to be your new best friend ??

Story
I would like to introduce you to Tator Tot, also known as Tator, Tate, silly boy, and Derpy. He is six months old. His father is a purebred Australian Shepherd, and his mother is a purebred Australian Kelpie. He is full of puppy energy and playful antics. We are currently working on potty training, but he still has occasional accidents. He is crate trained for sleeping at night. Unfortunately, I also have a three-year-old Mini Australian Shepherd who experiences high anxiety and is very protective of me. This has led to a challenging relationship between the two dogs. I have made efforts to improve their dynamic, but as he gets older, her behavior towards him becomes more aggressive. This situation is not fair to him. He possesses a great deal of energy and thoroughly enjoys playing, whereas she does not. While I deeply adore this little boy, he truly needs a home where he is not subjected to daily bullying from another dog.

Story
Meet Kraut – The Pocket Rocket 🚀🐾 Looking for a dog with big energy in a compact package? That’s me—Kraut! I’m a cattle dog in travel-sized form, bursting with brains, drive, and a whole lot of personality. I’m not your average couch-companion (unless you’ve got a tennis ball in hand). My hobbies include outrunning expectations, herding anything that moves, and judging your slow reflexes. I thrive when I’ve got a job to do—whether that’s agility, fly ball, farm work, or just keeping you on your toes. Don’t let my size fool you. I’m fast, focused, and full of fire. My dream family is active, adventurous, and ready to keep up with my quick mind and quicker paws. Give me a task, and I’ll give you 110%—plus a lifetime of loyalty and laughs. If you’re ready for a spirited teammate, a pocket-sized athlete, and the best adventure buddy you’ll ever have, then what are we waiting for? Let’s go! 🐶💨

Story
Meet Bindy! At 6 years old and 25 pounds, Bindy is a stunning mini aussie. This sweet girl has lived many lives—she was once a show dog and later used for breeding. When her breeder no longer wanted her, she found her way to The Rescue Inn, and she is not looking back. Bindy is currently in foster care and proving that you can teach an old pro new tricks. She is adjusting beautifully to "pet life" and soaking up all the comforts of a home. The Bindy Breakdown: 💙 Breed Pro: She’s a classic Aussie! We are looking for an adopter with breed experience who understands the intelligence and spirit of Australian Shepherds. 🏠 Home Manners: Bindy is already crate trained and does well on a leash, likely due to being a show dog. She is more uncertain off leash when allowed to investigate her foster home freely, but that will change with time. 🐕 Social Pup: Bindy is living with dogs of all ages and sizes and gets along great with her canine foster siblings. 🌳 Safety First: Bindy requires a fenced-in backyard where she can run, play, and enjoy her retirement in security. Bindy is fully vetted and ready to find a soft place to land. After years of working and breeding, she deserves a life filled with belly rubs, long walks, and a family that treasures her. Is your home the finish line Bindy has been waiting for? 🏁💙 For more information on Bindy, email us at therescueinn@gmail.com AND complete an adoption application here: https://therescueinn.com/adoption-application.html
