Story
Meet Deja and Tooty; 2 cutie-patooties! Deja and Tooty are Australian Shepherd Mix sisters, are about 17-18 weeks old, and weigh approximately 10-15 lbs. These 2 were found as strays and taken in by Bedford County Animal Control, where they were loved and cared for until entering our rescue's care. The girls are a little shy and timid when meeting someone new, but they are learning and starting to warm up. They were very under-socialized and will need to continue being worked with to grow up into loving, well rounded, and happy dogs. The adoption fee for these pups includes the spay/neuter, Rabies vaccination, Bordetella vaccination, 3 DA2PP boosters, deworming, microchips, and they are currently on flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

Story
Meet Miss Daisy Mae! Daisy Mae is an approximately 3 year old Aussie-doodle (Australian Shepherd X Poodle Mix) and she weighs about 40-45 lbs. Daisy Mae came to us as an owner surrender after she wasn't doing well in her home with an autistic child that she was raised with, and is looking for a home without children. She was severely matted and underweight upon entering rescue care. Daisy Mae has been introduced on leash and behind a kennel door to another child while in rescue care (our resident 8 year old who is very animal savvy for his age) and is absolutely terrified, to the point of acting aggressively. We are unsure what pushed Daisy Mae to this kind of reaction, but we can guess that it was not an appropriately handled situation. Daisy Mae can be shy and standoffish (a lot of barking) with new people, but warms up after some time. When she loves, she loves hard! She has turned into quite the velcro dog with our rescue director and loves attention from adults. Daisy Mae gets along okay with other dogs, however she acts dominant towards most all of the other rescues while in group play. She has handled one-on-one meetings better and is getting well acquainted with a basket muzzle to help prevent a reactive nip or bite. We plan on working in more public settings once Daisy Mae is completely comfortable with her basket muzzle. She has met our resident rescue cats from afar during a shave down and was not overly interested in them. Daisy Mae will resource guard over food, treats, and toys. Daisy Mae is learning how to walk on leash without pulling and is excelling. She is a very bright girl and is eager to learn, she is also extremely treat motivated. Daisy Mae is house trained and is learning some crate training skills. She rides well in the car either free riding or crated. We cannot stress enough that Daisy Mae will require a very patient adopter and a calm home setting without children. This is for the safety of her and any children. Professional training may help some with her public reactivity, but she will likely never be a safe candidate for a home with children present. Honestly, we are not willing to take that chance. If you are looking for a loving girl, and are both willing and ready to put in the effort to continue socializing/training, consider meeting Daisy Mae. This girl has evidently had a rough start, and is ready to live the rest of her life as a happy gal. ***Daisy Mae appears to be a non-shedding dog. While we cannot guarantee this, she has not left many hairs behind while interacting with rescue staff and required a full shave down to get rid of her severe matting. Life-time grooming will be necessary to keep her happy and healthy.***
