Meet Rye Bagel! Rye Bagel was rescued from San Diego after his owner passed away and the family could not keep him sadly, so he was surrendered. He apparently lived primarily in an outdoor kennel with about 13 dogs. Luckily, the generous Foundation for Care of Indigent Animals in Spring Valley looked after him, got him updated on his vaccinations, neutered, a dental cleaning, and examination with the veterinarian. He had a growth removed from his leg, but the vet was not concerned about the growth. Then, he was transported to Orange County on January 17, 2026 and became a Bean’s Beagle. We were initially told he was 16 years old, but the vet said he actually appears to be closer to 10-12 years old. So far, he has been enjoying walks in the neighborhood at his leisurely pace, he is friendly with people and other dogs on walks, enjoys looking out the window from his favorite spot, takes his naps, and is a “delight” to have in the home. He has been kind and gentle with the kids in the foster home, and enjoys cuddling. Bagel patiently watches his foster prepare meals, but has not tried to take the food, good manners! Bagel does not appear crate-trained yet, though he prefers to sleep on a blanket or bed just on the floor outside of the crate or with the crate door open. This may be due to him spending much of his life in a kennel previously. He appears to know to go potty on walks or outside, with no accidents typically and does well overnight with house-training, which is great! Bagel is looking for his forever home in the Southern California area. He may do best in a home where he is the only dog, or someone willing to slowly introduce him to other dogs. He has done well in his foster home with neighborhood dogs, at adoption events, and in the home, but these interactions should be monitored to ensure they’re a good match.

Meet Mable! Mable’s freedom ride!! She is a 2 year old spayed female who will be looking for a forever and ever home soon in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA only. No out of state applicants. Let’s let her decompress, relax and please let us get to know her a little more. All we know right now is she needs a home with no babies, toddlers or young children. She has a history of resource guarding and needs behavioral evaluation, training, and a committed adopter. Mable was trained for scent detection and knows a little obedience, but will need a human to give her structure, boundaries and training or she might think she is pack leader and take over. Not quite the job she should have. No cats. Alumni Finn will be testing her soon to see how she does with other dogs. We will update you on her progress. Welcome Mable to the Bean’s Beagles Family ❤

Prancer is a happy-go-lucky 3-year-old pup weighing 18 pounds, and he’s ready to bring nonstop joy to his forever home! He came to A Home 4 Ever Rescue from the Hesperia Animal Shelter after being found with two other dogs, and he hasn’t stopped wagging his tail (well… his adorable little stub!) since. With what appears to be a charming mix of Pug and Beagle, Prancer is as unique as he is lovable. From his cute stubby tail to his playful spirit, everything about him is full of personality. He’s friendly, affectionate, and always ready for fun—whether that’s playtime, going for a walk or just soaking up attention from his people. Prancer truly has the sweetest disposition and is simply happy to be part of whatever is going on. He would make a wonderful companion for a family or individual looking for a cheerful, loving dog. He does have a cherry eye, which can be corrected with a simple procedure if desired, but it is only cosmetic and does not affect his happy, active lifestyle. If you’re looking for a playful, loving pup who will brighten your days, Prancer just might be your perfect match! Let’s welcome Sammy into our Bean’s Beagles family. He is so happy to be safe and cannot wait to sit down and tell us all about him. Sammy is a 3-year-old, 42 pound tricolor male Harrier mix who was rescued from OC Animal Care around May 13th and he was at risk due to his history. He was reportedly passed around to several unhoused owners over a period of time, and has a bite history. However, based on the history, it seems possible Sammy was in not ideal conditions and questionable treatment, so he may have responded out of fear or to how he was being treated in those conditions. He has not shown aggression or biting behavior/resource guarding since he has been in our care. Regardless, since he was been in our care, we have housed him in a secure boarding kennel while we working with our trainer and Sammy. His initial assessment was positive, he appears to have potential, but definitely appears fearful to men and trucks going by, which we’re working on. However, Sammy has been cooperative with kennel staff with feedings, potty breaks, and being leashed, with no further bite incidents reported, though we’re all taking the proper precautions. He has been training with Yolanda, including socialization outings, and has definitely improved over time and seems happy. We are hopeful that with the right owner, patience, and training, Sammy can learn that the world can be a safe place, there are nice, patient people out there, and that he deserves a wonderful home. Sammy will need a very patient, caring, and special person who is willing to work on training, and his home should have no other dogs, children, or cats as he will need to be a priority as well as safety for all. Sammy will need a local foster who will be willing to work with our trainer as he goes back into a home environment. Welcome Sammy!
