Story
Penelope is a very sweet, loyal girl with a big heart. She’s affectionate without being clingy, playful, and loves being near her people. She does great with adults and older kids who can respect her space and read her body language. She happily snuggles at night—often sleeping beside our 9-year-old and cuddling up. She is gentle around food with no guarding. She is smart, eager to learn, and knows basic commands. She’s very trainable and has been steadily improving with leash skills and impulse control, and can refocus quickly when guided. Due to her size and strength, she needs a physically confident adult who can comfortably handle her on walks. She can be reactive to other dogs and animals, so continued training and a low-dog or dog-free home would be ideal. Penelope clearly communicates when she’s unsure or uncomfortable and does best with people who notice and respect those signals. She would thrive in a calm, yet active home that values guidance, trust and continued training.

Beagle/boxer mix 4 1/2 - year-old 35 lbs. Ronnie is a high energy beagle mix and loves to play. He is good with other dogs as he lives with a 13 year old Yorkie.  Probably would need slower introductions  to new dogs. He'd do best with another energetic same size dog in the home. He's a confident dog, who thinks he's a big dog. He can be somewhat intimidated by much larger dogs. He is house trained and also crate trained.  He's been around kids so with proper introductions he should be fine with older kids.  Due to his energy level, he may be too much for smaller kids. Ronnie is good with new people he meets but can be somewhat cautious until he gets to know you. Ronnie will require a fenced yard as he loves to chase squirrels and birds. He is working on leash training. This little guy is just a big wiggle butt and happy to see his foster dad when he comes home from work. Ronnie has recently graduated from the 12 Week Puppies for Parole training program offered through the Mo Department of Corrections.  While in training he was taught basic obedience and socialization skills.  He has learned various commands such as sit, stay, paw, heel, etc … and has acquired his good canine citizen honor. If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Ronnie’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.
