Story
I arrived at the shelter as a stray, so my history is mostly a mystery. I was underweight when I arrived, so I`m enjoying tasty foods. I arrived with another dog that I seem to get along with quite well, and I did well for my intake exam and vaccines. I am very friendly and incredibly cute!I have tested positive for heartworms. In North Carolina, it`s unfortunately common to see many dogs that are infected with heartworms (they are transmitted by mosquito bites). Heartworm disease may cause severe lung disease, heart failure, or other organ damage in dogs. It`s usually fatal if left untreated. Heartworm treatment is costly. With your support, OCAS can help more dogs with this disease - resulting in healthier dogs that are even more likely to get adopted. If you`d like to help, please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign.

Story
Sadie age 10 and White Princess age 2 are two Peas in a Pod. Sadie is protective and a mother figure to Princess. Prefer they are adopted together because they are very closely bonded. Will consider separate adoptions. Both are very gentle and very friendly. We had Sadie for about 10 years since she was a young baby. Both are laid back lap dog types. Princess is more energetic than Sadie. Both enjoy playing at the doggie park or doggie day care.. They both get along great with cats and kids. I have a several cats and 3 dogs. My kids are now older and I’m facing empty nest soon. Allergies and medical stuff prevents me from keeping all the pets myself. Several cats here too, all colors. I need to rehome a few cats and total of three dogs. 🐶 🐈‍⬛.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please be sure to read Mae's bio before applying for her.Mae's life began in an unsupportive and neglectful home.  She was confiscated from her original home and brought into a county shelter.  One animal on the property had been tethered and found starved to death, and Mae was one of several other dogs that were impounded.  She was so emaciated that she wasn't far from death herself.  Mae has learned many new things in a loving and supportive foster home, and her foster family has learned a lot about her- and where she would be most comfortable.    Mae would do best in a home with another dog, she loves to wrestle and play.  Another dog her size or larger would do best, since she can be an exuberant play companion.  She completely ignores cats, so having kitties in the home would be ok too.  She definitely requires a secured fenced in yard (no underground fences please) and a home that has the capability to utilize gates to keep her safe until she has had the chance to become acclimated to her new environment.  She can be a bit nervous with new people, but she warms up fast.  She would do best in a home where all children are 12 and over, since she has had limited exposure to children.  Mae still carries memories of her past, and the one detail she is sure of is that her previous tormentor was a bald man- she is terrified of bald men,  men with hair do not seem to be an issue.  She requires an experienced family that will give her the time she needs to get comfortable and blossom into an excellent companion.    Mae is leash trained, house trained (though rainy days can be challenging), crate trained, and she rides well in a car.  She has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccines.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 10:18 am

Story
Meet Primrose! Primrose and her siblings were born in late October to a sweet mama who appears to be a Beagle–hound mix weighing about 25 pounds. At just three months old, these pups are already tipping the scales between 19–24 pounds, so we’re guessing dad was a bigger boy—but his breed remains a mystery. These puppies may be some of the softest you’ll ever touch, inside and out. They’re affectionate, gentle, and doing great with kids and other dogs, and they’re just beginning to learn about cats. Like all puppies, they’re fun, energetic, and full of curiosity, so they’ll do best with families who understand the time, patience, and love that puppy ownership requires. Their foster families are already working on crate training and potty training, giving them a great start toward becoming wonderful family dogs. Apply at: apsofpc.org under the Adopt tab Adoption fee: $300 The adoption fee includes: • Up-to-date vaccines • Puppy deworming • Microchip • Rescue discount for spay/neuter at our partner vet in Person County If you’re ready to add puppy love (and a little chaos!) to your life, Primrose and her siblings are ready to meet you.February 5, 2026, 10:04 am
