Story
***This post is on behalf of a friend of mine*** Due to a tragic death in the family, we sadly have to rehome our two dogs - Joy and Zoe. My friend is now a widower with three children under the age of 7, and he is not able to care for the dogs while navigating this new phase of life as a single parent. Joy is a Beagle mix, approx 3 years old Zoe is a Manchester Terrier mix, approx 11 years old Both are great with kids. They are bonded and we would like to rehome them together

Story
This is Ollie. He is such a lover dog with the biggest heart and all he wants to do is cuddle and play. He is so sweet to everyone he meets and always smiling! He rarely barks and only whines when has to go out (which is nice to know). He really has no flaws, I just don’t have time as a student.

Story
We seem to have quite a few seniors these days, and that`s okay because they are such wonderful, amazing souls. They teach us so much and require so little. They just want to be with you, get a few pets and hugs, some good food, and a soft, warm place to rest. Is that too much to ask?? NO! This beautiful girl is Lanie and it`s hard to believe but she is probably around 10 years old or so. And, as always, she checks all the boxes like most seniors. She`s housetrained, crate trained, good with other dogs, easy-going, and just a pleasure to be around--a 100% great dog! Lanie is doing very well in her wonderful foster home but she is also ready to start life in a forever home of her own. She will not disappoint the lucky person who adopts her, and promises to bring oodles and oodles of love into their life. To meet this sweet, happy girl, email us at fosterpets@burlingtonnc.gov.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please be sure to read Mae's bio before applying for her.Mae's life began in an unsupportive and neglectful home.  She was confiscated from her original home and brought into a county shelter.  One animal on the property had been tethered and found starved to death, and Mae was one of several other dogs that were impounded.  She was so emaciated that she wasn't far from death herself.  Mae has learned many new things in a loving and supportive foster home, and her foster family has learned a lot about her- and where she would be most comfortable.    Mae would do best in a home with another dog, she loves to wrestle and play.  Another dog her size or larger would do best, since she can be an exuberant play companion.  She completely ignores cats, so having kitties in the home would be ok too.  She definitely requires a secured fenced in yard (no underground fences please) and a home that has the capability to utilize gates to keep her safe until she has had the chance to become acclimated to her new environment.  She can be a bit nervous with new people, but she warms up fast.  She would do best in a home where all children are 12 and over, since she has had limited exposure to children.  Mae still carries memories of her past, and the one detail she is sure of is that her previous tormentor was a bald man- she is terrified of bald men,  men with hair do not seem to be an issue.  She requires an experienced family that will give her the time she needs to get comfortable and blossom into an excellent companion.    Mae is leash trained, house trained (though rainy days can be challenging), crate trained, and she rides well in a car.  She has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccines.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 17, 2024, 3:02 pm

Story
Meet LuLu, a sociable, energetic 10-year-old beagle/shepard mix. Her favorite things are people (especially kids), car rides and walks. LuLu is well loved by her owners and was raised as an indoor dog, but because of family circumstances, she is currently living outside. She misses her daily human interaction and would thrive with a family that can spend time with her, take her on car rides and daily walks. Although diagnosed with hip dysplasia, but this does not dim LuLu’s outlook on life or her ability to take short walks. Her owners are looking to rehome her to a family that will be able to provide for her needs and give her lots of love and attention. This girl is heartworm negative, spayed and up-to-date on her vaccines. All you have to do is meet this sweet, senior pup to fall in love with her. LuLu’s adoption fee has been sponsored. Please apply at apsofpc.org. #apsofpc #seniordogSeptember 5, 2024, 4:40 pm
