Story
Hi My Name is Shepard! My current family took me in 2 years ago when I had no place else to go. They have given me love, safety, health care, friends, family in addition to a good home. My family recently welcomed a baby into the home which makes me fearful, as I do much better with adults and friendly dogs. I also can be fearful when lots of people are around because I worry they don't see me when they walk past me. I love homes that are calm and with adults who like to go for walks outside and don't mind my company around the house.

Story
Meet Janis! Janis is a spunky Beagle mix! She is crate-trained and house-trained. She loves to play tug-of-war or fetch and zoom around to get out some energy. She also loves to be in your lap and give kisses! One of our favorite silly things about Janis is she likes to walk into and wrap herself up in blankets (and curtains if you let her)! After being adopted last summer as a puppy, Janis was returned to us a few months later, very fearful and with reactivity to dogs. Janis has been working with a trainer and has made tremendous strides in the last few months. Her trainer and foster parents are very happy with her progress and confirm she is ready to find her forever home. Janis is a vocal gal who will let you know if she is nervous or excited by barking loudly. While we are working on this behavior with the trainer, Janis is a Beagle mix and will likely always be pretty vocal. She is a smart pup who quickly learns commands and is eager to please. Her perfect home would be with someone who is committed to continuing regular and consistent training with her. Due to her reactivity around other dogs, she would do well as a solo dog but could likely co-live with a dog in the future with continued training. She has experience co-living with cats and wants to play with them. She does well with assertive cats who will put her in her place. She would do best in a home without small children. At 10 months old, she is less than 30 lbs and will remain a medium-sized dog. If you are interested in Janis, click Apply for Adoption! Story
This is Duke. He was born with his sister on 8/22/19. He is 5 years old, loves a good stuffed toy and a good burger! He enjoys long walks on the beach, but by 8 PM. That is his designated bed time(provided by himself of course). He has a cataract on his left eye from birth but that doesn’t stop him from anything, he just stares at the wall more than usual pets. He would love to be in a home where he is the only pet and gets lots of outside time. He is great with mid school aged kids and up! Please come apply to make duke apart of your family and bring the same joy and laughter he has brought to mine over the years!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please be sure to read Mae's bio before applying for her.Mae's life began in an unsupportive and neglectful home.  She was confiscated from her original home and brought into a county shelter.  One animal on the property had been tethered and found starved to death, and Mae was one of several other dogs that were impounded.  She was so emaciated that she wasn't far from death herself.  Mae has learned many new things in a loving and supportive foster home, and her foster family has learned a lot about her- and where she would be most comfortable.    Mae would do best in a home with another dog, she loves to wrestle and play.  Another dog her size or larger would do best, since she can be an exuberant play companion.  She completely ignores cats, so having kitties in the home would be ok too.  She definitely requires a secured fenced in yard (no underground fences please) and a home that has the capability to utilize gates to keep her safe until she has had the chance to become acclimated to her new environment.  She can be a bit nervous with new people, but she warms up fast.  She would do best in a home where all children are 12 and over, since she has had limited exposure to children.  Mae still carries memories of her past, and the one detail she is sure of is that her previous tormentor was a bald man- she is terrified of bald men,  men with hair do not seem to be an issue.  She requires an experienced family that will give her the time she needs to get comfortable and blossom into an excellent companion.    Mae is leash trained, house trained (though rainy days can be challenging), crate trained, and she rides well in a car.  She has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccines.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 30, 2024, 10:19 pm

Story
Meet LuLu, a sociable, energetic 10-year-old beagle/shepard mix. Her favorite things are people (especially kids), car rides and walks. LuLu is well loved by her owners and was raised as an indoor dog, but because of family circumstances, she is currently living outside. She misses her daily human interaction and would thrive with a family that can spend time with her, take her on car rides and daily walks. Although diagnosed with hip dysplasia, but this does not dim LuLu’s outlook on life or her ability to take short walks. Her owners are looking to rehome her to a family that will be able to provide for her needs and give her lots of love and attention. This girl is heartworm negative, spayed and up-to-date on her vaccines. All you have to do is meet this sweet, senior pup to fall in love with her. LuLu’s adoption fee has been sponsored. Please apply at apsofpc.org. #apsofpc #seniordogApril 29, 2024, 11:06 am
