Story
Meet Pooh — a 6&#226&#128&#145month&#226&#128&#145old, 12 lb Bluetick Beagle pup with a heart full of sweetness and a nose that’s always ready for adventure.   Quick Facts: Name: Pooh Breed: Bluetick Beagle Mix Age: 6 months old Weight: 12 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes (would love a playful sibling!) Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes, best with kids who can handle puppy energy Energy Level: Medium (playful) Fence Required: No, but preferred due to her explorative nature   About Pooh’s Breed: Our best guess is that Pooh is a Bluetick Beagle mixed breed. Bluetick Beagles are known for their keen noses, curious minds, and cheerful, affectionate personalities. They’re classic little hounds—playful, expressive, and always ready to follow an interesting scent. Their striking bluetick coat pattern gives them a unique look, and their friendly nature makes them wonderful companions for families and other pets.   An ideal home for a Bluetick Beagle is one that offers plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and safe opportunities to explore. Because their noses lead the way, they thrive with a fenced yard or regular leashed adventures. They do best with families who appreciate their energetic, inquisitive spirit and can provide consistent training, companionship, and lots of love.   What to Love about Pooh: Pooh is playful, loving, and full of that irresistible puppy energy that makes every day a little brighter! When she’s not exploring or playing with her toys, she’s happiest curled up in bed, where she sleeps soundly through the night.   Pooh is still learning the ropes of puppy life — she’s mostly potty trained but may still have accidents, and she’s working hard on her manners, including understanding the word “no.” She’s crate trained and should be crated or gated when left alone, as her curious beagle nose can lead her into mischief. She rides well in the car (though drive&#226&#128&#145thrus aren’t her favorite), walks nicely on a leash, and is eager to keep learning with a patient, dog&#226&#128&#145savvy family.   She adores other dogs and would love a playful canine sibling to romp with! She’s also good with cats and would do well with respectful, dog&#226&#128&#145savvy kids. With her hound instincts, Pooh loves to sniff, explore, and follow scents, so a fenced yard or regular leashed adventures would make her very happy!   Pooh’s Precious Highlights: 6&#226&#128&#145month&#226&#128&#145old, 12 lb Bluetick Beagle puppy with tons of sweetness and playful energy Loves to explore and sniff — classic hound instincts in a tiny package Great with dogs, cats, and respectful kids Crate trained and should be crated or gated when left alone (curious puppy nose!) Mostly potty trained but still learning, as expected for her age Enjoys walks, rides well in the car, and is learning basic commands Plays wonderfully with other dogs and would love a playful canine sibling Sleeps through the night and loves cuddling when she’s not busy playing   Pooh is a remarkable little pup — sweet, energetic, curious, and full of love. She’s ready to grow, learn, and thrive with a family who can guide her through puppyhood and enjoy all the joy she brings!   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please be sure to read Mae's bio before applying for her.Mae's life began in an unsupportive and neglectful home.  She was confiscated from her original home and brought into a county shelter.  One animal on the property had been tethered and found starved to death, and Mae was one of several other dogs that were impounded.  She was so emaciated that she wasn't far from death herself.  Mae has learned many new things in a loving and supportive foster home, and her foster family has learned a lot about her- and where she would be most comfortable.    Mae would do best in a home with another dog, she loves to wrestle and play.  Another dog her size or larger would do best, since she can be an exuberant play companion.  She completely ignores cats, so having kitties in the home would be ok too.  She definitely requires a secured fenced in yard (no underground fences please) and a home that has the capability to utilize gates to keep her safe until she has had the chance to become acclimated to her new environment.  She can be a bit nervous with new people, but she warms up fast.  She would do best in a home where all children are 12 and over, since she has had limited exposure to children.  Mae still carries memories of her past, and the one detail she is sure of is that her previous tormentor was a bald man- she is terrified of bald men,  men with hair do not seem to be an issue.  She requires an experienced family that will give her the time she needs to get comfortable and blossom into an excellent companion.    Mae is leash trained, house trained (though rainy days can be challenging), crate trained, and she rides well in a car.  She has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccines.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 10:18 am

Story
Bringing honor back to the name Karen, this young hound come beagle mix gal is fun, energetic, on her toes and not at all a drama queen and has made nary a single complaint since her arrival to Saving Grace. Karen is an adult who weighs about 26 lbs now and could use to gain a few more. She is a great size gal who looks like a hound but is more the size of an overgrown beagle. She is wonderful with other dogs, has no difficulty getting along with all and loves to be on the move and is still quiet and mannerly in her crate. Karen could easily join just about any home and melt right into your routine. She is as fun as she is fiesty and loyal and would be happy to keep you walking on regular walks as well as napping and snuggling in between. Karen is NOT a karen in the slightest and is ready to be the best Karen around.

Story
*** AVAILABLE ON-SITE ONLY FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS *** Looking for an adorable, laid-back companion? Waylon is your guy! He is easy going, friendly, and easy to please. Regular meals, some bones to chew on, a lap to curl up in (he is a world-class snuggler), and belly rubs are all this older gentleman desires. In return he will be your loyal, loving best friend forever. He quickly settled in with his foster family's four big dogs and bonded with their people. While he will occasionally follow and play with the other dogs, he mostly prefers doing his own thing and being near his person. He's a good boy that does well in his crate and enjoys going for walks. He does need a little time to adjust to a new home and surroundings (who doesn't?! :), so he would love a patient forever family that keeps him on a bathroom routine while he gets comfortable. If that's you, consider opening your home to give sweet Waylon the good life he deserves!

Story
Sweet and savory Shawn brings it all...and is a man for all tastes! This little beagle mix (with the longest ears around btw) weighs about 24 lbs now with the gain to pack on a few more. Shawn brings all of the things you want in a beagle. With the great looks, a nose for news, great energy level and a desire to be with his people all the time not to mention his ability to clean up crumbs and sniff a lap that needs sitting in. Shawn does well with other dogs though could happily be solo too. He is the smallest tricolored beagle package around who is waiting for a home that accommodate these good looks and big heart. *Sleepover feedback: "The only noise he made the whole weekend was the cutest snoring the second night; he slept through the night and was happiest in his crate. He preferred to spend time alone in his crate. My favorite moment of the weekend was when he caught his reflection in the mirror and started wagging his tail; he knows he’s handsome!! Shawn had zero accidents in the house. Whoever ends up adopting Shawn is so very lucky".
