Meet Bear – Your Loyal Companion in Waiting! Location: Currently being cared for in a loving home Date of Birth: March 25, 2024 Breed: German Shepherd &#226&#154&#150&#239&#184&#143 Weight: Approx. 60 lbs Name: Bear Sex: Male (Neutered) Looking for a loyal, intelligent, and energetic best friend? Meet Bear, a stunning young German Shepherd with a big heart and even bigger potential. Bear was adopted in August 2024, gifted to us a family by a former co-worker. Sadly, due to recent family health challenges and demanding work schedules, they can no longer give Bear the time and attention he truly deserves. Despite his young age, Bear is already showing the classic traits of a German Shepherd—bright, alert, and deeply devoted. He’s crate-trained and comfortable spending time in the backyard and he is housebroken.  Good With Other Dogs and Cats: Yes Kids: We have not seen him around kids but he has yet to meet a stranger so we think he will do well.  Housebroken: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Vaccinations: Up-to-date on Rabies and DHPPC &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Heartworm Preventative: Current (Last given 02/22/2025, tested negative same day) About Bear: Bear is truly a teddy bear at heart—sweet-natured, very friendly, and always eager for affection. He has a natural protective streak, as is typical of his breed, but it’s paired with a playful and loving personality. He loves being around people and other dogs, and thrives on attention and interaction. If you’re ready to welcome a loyal companion who will give you endless love and make you feel safe and cherished, Bear is waiting to meet you. Interested in adopting Bear? Complete an online application to learn more about Bear or arrange a meet-and-greet: Adoption Application - Legacy Humane SocietyWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. Story
Cash came to the rescue when the shelter sent him to have his fractured leg amputated at our vet clinic. He had been shot, and we have no idea of the other abuse he had suffered, but he is initially afraid of new men (fine once he learns they mean him no harm). While he is not an aggressive boy, he acts as if he could tear into someone, which can be off-putting. He is fine with women, loving, outgoing, and cuddly, especially with his foster mom. We are helping him work onhis fear, which can/will be resolved with patience and TLC.Cash lives with lots of other dogs and gets along with everyone, large and small. He is playful and happy, can be as gentle or rough as needed, depending on who he is playing with. He walks fine on a leash and is good at going for rides when he gets a chance. He is crate trained and asks to go out if needed between potty breaks. He generally has good house manners, except when he counter-surfs for food when the opportunity presents itself.Cash is fully vetted, current with vaccines, neutered, microchipped, and on flea and tick, as well as heartworm, prevention.

Story
DOB: 11/1/23 Weight: 70 lbs Meet Wendy, a playful one-year-old German Shepherd/Collie mix who is ready to find her forever family! At 70 pounds, Wendy is the perfect combination of playful energy and loyal companionship. She loves chasing balls, chewing on bones, playing with her favorite toy Allie the stuffed alligator, and taking walks and car rides (with her head out the window of course!) to wherever adventure awaits. Wendy can even catch treats! She loves to spend time using her nose to explore her environment. We discovered at a recent adoption event that she seems to have a “thing” for low rider dogs.  Wendy was rescued as a stray and has blossomed into a sweet and sociable dog who adores playing with other dogs her size. Her friendly nature makes her a wonderful companion, but she can sometimes forget how big she is. This family best suited to share in her playful enthusiasm is one without young children. Wendy is microchipped for safety, so you can have peace of mind knowing she’s always protected. This smart girl is leash-trained, crate-trained, and fully housebroken—meaning she’s ready to integrate into family life. She knows a few commands, like 'bed,' 'crate,' and 'come' with a hand signal.   She is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $125.  https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. Meet Luna – Your Loyal, Loving Companion Awaits! Luna is a stunning 3-year-old, 70-pound beauty who was adopted as a puppy from a loving family in Celina. Unfortunately, changes in their work schedule now leave Luna spending most of her days alone or in boarding. While they adore her, they know she deserves a home where she can thrive with the time, love, and companionship she craves. Luna is a well-mannered girl who knows her basic commands, is housebroken, and crate trained. She would do well with large, submissive dogs and enjoys spending time with older kids. Due to her size, we recommend a home with children 10+ just to be cautious, as we haven’t seen her around toddlers. She can be reactive when she sees other dogs on leash during walks and would benefit from a harness if walked.  We’re not sure about cats yet—but we’re happy to do a cat test upon request! This sweet lady is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated. She’s current on monthly heartworm prevention and ready to head home with her forever family. Think Luna might be the one for you? Meet Saint – A True Survivor Ready for His Forever Home! Saint is a stunning Catahoula/Dutch Shepherd mix with a heart as big as his story. This handsome boy was rescued from a local shelter after being found all alone with a severely broken leg. He was in desperate need of medical care, and thanks to the quick action of Legacy Humane Society and the loving care of his foster family, Saint is now fully recovered and thriving! Now healed and full of life, Saint is ready for his next chapter—with a forever family who will love him as much as he’ll love them. He’s housebroken, crate trained, and fantastic with people and other dogs. (He hasn’t been cat-tested yet, but we’re happy to do so upon request.)
