Story
Duchess was in a small, high-kill shelter when we came across her information. Her eyes were so infected that she could not open them, and the shelter had posted her as being blind. Our vet discovered that Duchess doesn’t produce tears, and the chronic dry eye had been untreated for so long that her corneas were damaged and infected. This sweet girl was initially so shut down that she had to remind herself what a special dog she is. We are trying our best to save her eyes; she gets two types of medicated drops twice a day and artificial tears as often as possible. She has learned to let her foster clean her eyes and is good about getting her drops. She is now able to see, although not as well as we hope she will as we progress. She will need eye drops ongoing. Duchess now plays with the other dogs in her foster home and enjoys running around her yard. Her very favorite thing is getting attention and spending time with her humans. She wants to devote herself entirely to her family and take care of them. This girl is a wonderful Doberman and an ambassador for the breed. She is house trained, can use a doggie door, or ask to go outside if she doesn't have one. She is fine being left home alone or with her canine friends, but would rather go wherever her human is going. She’s great at going for rides and would be the perfect travel companion. Duchess is fully vetted, current with vaccines, spayed, on flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention, and is microchipped.

Story
Meet Dobby! This affectionate boy is looking for a FURever home where he can cuddle up with his person or family and play fetch. He's very smart and is already housebroken, knows no, listens well, and has a desire to keep learning what you're willing to teach him! He'd make a great partner for someone that enjoys a nice run or jog and then coming home to relax, his preferred relaxation being a nice bone to chew on. He enjoys a nice chase so probably best with no feline friends, possibly a selective canine companion, but has done well with children. If his zest for life doesn't win you over, his adorably large ears surely will! Apply to bring this big boy home today! All Abandoned Pet Project Rescue adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines upon adoption. The standard minimum donation for dogs over six months to seven years is $200, puppies under six months is $250, dogs eight years and over are $100 unless specified otherwise. You can view all the adoptable pets and fill out an adoption application online on our website at bit.ly/APPRAdoptableDogs. For more information, you can email adopt@abandonedpetproject.org.

Story
Six pounds of chocolate love - Meet our sweet little Min-Pin princess! Tiny kangaroo moves - Big Forever Home Dreams! This beautiful 6-year-old Miniature Pinscher mix weighs just 6 pounds and sports stunning light and dark chocolate coloring. Found as a stray trying to survive in a big, scary world all on her own, she’s shown incredible resilience and has blossomed into the happiest little companion. She’s dog, cat, and older-children friendly, making her a wonderful fit for many homes. She is house-trained, crate-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and sleeps peacefully through the night. True to her royal status, she enjoys walks but loves being carried. When she wants to be picked up, she’ll sit up like a tiny kangaroo, waving her front legs in the air until you scoop her up — it’s impossible not to smile and of course pick her up.  This sweet girl is all about the cozy life: cuddles for days, movie marathons, and being close to her people. Tiny in size but huge in heart, she’s ready to share unconditional love with her forever family. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Her adoption donation is $275. If you would like to meet her, please complete an application at LegacyHumaneSociety.org, and her foster mom will be in touch. She just might be the perfect little companion you’ve been waiting for     We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.
