Meet Dash! This gorgeous Malinois pup embodies all her name means- “Adventurous, bold, energetic. Runs and travels in a hurry.”She is agile, fast as lightening and always on the go. Her mind is brilliant and constantly working, and at this point I fear, she is smarter than me 😅 Dash’s favorite things include, Running…anywhere. Up in the hills, in the horse pastures, around the ponds, along the perimeter of our backyard fence. You name it, she’s claimed it. She loves swimming, digging and pouncing on her prey aka stuffy toys. She is EXTREMELY prey driven. She loves belly rubs and getting groomed. She’s a cuddle bug, Velcro dog, and protective of our pack. We estimate Dash to be about a year old. She is a petite girl, so will also stay pretty manageable. She is the perfect age to start training, which this breed thrives on. She loves a challenge and being rewarded, as she really tries to please. She loves her pack, but so far has been indifferent with other dogs. I think she would be happy as an only pup, but would need somebody home with her most of the time with a lot of activity and stimulation. Please research this breed, experience is even better! She’s such a gem, ready to “Dash” into her forever!! Dash will be spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Dash is about 1 year old.

Story
Ace was adopted at 8 weeks old. He was surrendered in Santa Cruz, California in a litter of 8. Ace lived with a family that included a 10 year old special needs boy and a cat. He was taken to dog parks where he spent endless amounts of energy attempting to play with other dogs, but usually was left alone because his breed plays too rough, plus while he was pushing 60 lbs, at that time was still only 7 months old or so. It’s important to note that Ace was loved immensely. His environment was not tailored to fit his energy and exuberance, nor was the family adequately prepared to house a dog such as Ace in a small college apartment. The fee is to ensure that whoever gets this big beautiful dog has the means to care for him and treat him well. He understands sit, stay, go, and if you designate a spot for him, he will go to and stay. He’s good with pretty much anyone, just wants to play. Good with cats but a bit rough. And 100% crate trained and potty trained. Food motivated for sure.

Additional information about this animal is available as of August 10th, 2024. It will be provided to an interested party or rescue. Dog Day Out notes from last week: Today, I was so happy to get out of my kennel! I got to put on a collar and harness, and I got to go in a car!! I love the car! I wanted to help drive, but my new friends said I should eat cookies instead, so I looked out the window. I love going for walks! We walked a long way! I wanted to be in front, but my friends would stop, so I got to give them snuggles when they did that – I like snuggles more than cookies! We saw so many things! People and dogs and lots and lots of bikes! I don't worry about those things though, I have my friends! I almost tried to catch a squirrel, but it got away. That's okay; I gave more snuggles to my friends! Oh! And on the way back, I took a nap – I loved the quiet time. Three Words to Describe Me are affectionate – snuggly - and friendly. Notes from My Walker: Traviesa is such a delight! She pulls on the leash, but it seems like she just never got a chance to learn how to walk on a leash before. She did amazing on the busy trail – we saw bikes, walkers, and dogs, and she was non-reactive to almost everything. The small, barky dog got her attention, but he started talking first, and she displayed interest, with no reactive lunging or barking. She is not a cookie girl, but she LOVES to snuggle. We love it when dogs on the trail check in with their human friends, but Traviesa was at another level; she would stop and lean in for a hug before continuing the walk! She is a sweet, gentle, loving dog who deserves a home that will let her learn and give her the chance to be a fantastic companion dog.

She may have genetic traits of a herding cattle dog. Alone once comfortable she will herd nip for attention. In a trainer home with many ther dogs for two daily hikes running and playing for hours she has not herd nipped the trainer. She needs a home with other active dogs to play and run with or ranch home with sheep or lamb as a working dog. Smart and listens to commands. Plays ball. Once exercised she does relax at home. She has energy and has to burn off with a job or other active dogs. Beautiful Wanda and her siblings were on Monday 12/8/25 shelter PTS list. She was only 9 mos old and social friendly. Yet SASA is euthanizing many friendly and healthy young dogs weekly due to capacity issues. Shelter is over-loaded daily by irresponsible owners that dump their dogs. Worse now during Holiday month when many are away on vacations. So the poor innocent dogs have less time at this shelter. Her brother was adopted last minute. Wanda had no options left so we tagged her to rescue her. Volunteers and staff adore her. She is super friendly dog friendly and smart. Needs basic training. She has mix of two very intelligent athletic and devolted brave breeds. Ready to learn and be your BFF for life. Loves toys knows sit for treats and is playful. Will play with her mouth but soft. Great hiking and walking buddy. Will probably enjoy any fun or working you both may like. Smart dog. We will emergency board her to save her life while we search for an experienced foster home. More info. to come. Update at her Foster Home: She is smart affectionate dog and people friendly. Loves to play ball go on walks & hikes lounging on sofa chair well behaved at home crate trained and very treat /food motivated. She is a sweetie. Everyone she meets always fall in love with her. Wanda is waiting for her forever loving and active forever home. She has a strong prey drive so no cats. She can be nippy (herding dog) when she wants attention or doesn't get enough exercise. So no kids. Need experienced guardian to guide her. Quiet in crate. Going to teen dog personality. She is a great hiking buddy and loves to play ball. She needs the exercise and then naps at home. Very well behaved. Loves playing with other dogs. Need foster home ASAP due to foster home returning back to work. Is very active and loves people and attention. Sadly cannot keep due to having a busy schedule and not giving her the attention she needs, as well as downsizing. Knows basic commands such as “sit”, “down”, “leave it”, “off”. She is very smart, she brings me her water bowl when it is empty. She is a great companion, a very happy dog.
