Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Athletic Tripawed Dog!Coco is a 2 year-old Malinois / German Shepherd mix who weighs approximately 78lbs.  Coco is just a sweet, sweet boy. Curious, goofy, loving, and energetic - he loves everyone, and sees the best in them. Coco currently lives with two older 4-legged brothers and, while he would love to live with a fur-sibling, he is not part of a bonded pair. As long as he has fur friends to play with, Coco will be a happy boy! When playing with his human pals, in typical puppy fashion Coco can be a bit jumpy and mouthy, but that's easily addressed with a firm voice and a 15 minute walk :-) He's very verbally responsive and wants to please. Sweet Coco has been perfectly house trained since day one, loves car rides, and while he is working on his leash manners, he loves to go for walks and is learning not to pull in excitement when he meets new friends - that is Everyone! Coco knows the benefit of "Sit", "Down" and "Touch" to get his favorite treats, and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training. Check out Coco's profile on Rocky Kanaka! https://rockykanaka.com/one-leg-short-but-full-of-heart-a-german-shepherds-inspiring-escape-from-adversity/ Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped.   Adoption fees for dogs: http://www.svpetproject.org/info/adoption Stay up-to-date on what our dogs are up to by following us on Facebook!  https://www.facebook.com/svpetproject Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 24, 2024, 9:48 pm

Story
07/12/24 11:45Sidney is a beautiful Belgian Malinois mix who is a little over two-years-old. She is still learning how to be a dog because we have noticed that she gets nervous in the outside world. We think she simply needs more experience and exposure to busy human environments.Sidney does so well in our doggie playgroups. She loves other dogs and we here at the shelter consider her a playgroup star. She loves playing in the pool with her dog friends, running around, and playing with toys. Sidney also does well with our shelter staff. She has learned how to sit and stay down for treats.Sidney needs to find her furever person who will continue to expose her to the world and build up her confidence.06/04/24 22:47DOG DAY OUT REPORT I’ve been in the shelter since January and today was my first Doggie Day Out. I was a little nervous on my big day out, but my friend helped show me a good day. Getting in the car seemed too high for me, but my friend gave me treats and helped me inside. I laid down and enjoyed the treats she gave me. My friend took me on a nearby neighborhood walk. People running and bicycling towards me made me nervous and my friend understood and made sure we had space. I could then watch the world and relax and take in the sights and smells and have an enjoyable day. It was nice to get outside and see the world and get lots of yummy treats and a toy.Three Words to Describe Me are: Gorgeous, Active, Nervous Notes from My Walker: Sidney is a gorgeous Belgian Malinois mix who has been in the shelter since January. She was easy to harness, but nervous to get in the car (both leaving and returning). With treats and coaxing, she allowed me to lift her inside. We first went to a hiking trail, but it was a bit much for her. She was reactive towards a bicycle that sped by out of nowhere and she kept jumping into the brush at every little animal noise so I decided to start with a neighborhood walk for an easier first adventure. Sidney was nervous about fast movements towards her, including bicycles and runners, and she would bark. She was too nervous to accept treats but did engage in a little bit of play with a squeaky toy I brought. I gave her space and ensured our side of the neighborhood street was empty and she was able to relax. Across the street, people, runners, bicycles, and dogs all passed us by and she watched and absorbed the goings on around her quietly. She did so much better wit

Story
Meet Ginger! Ginger is an adolescent GSD mix that came to the Shelter as a stray. We don’t know much about her life before coming to the Shelter. Ginger has been noted by staff to be exuberant, curious, and energetic on and off leash. She has been playful with other dogs that she has met at the Shelter. A home with another dog may be a fit provided they have a meet and greet at the Shelter prior to adoption. Ginger has been noted to be a little mouthy in the Shelter (a common behavior in adolescent pups). We anticipate that with daily mental and physical stimulation as well as being out of the Shelter, Ginger’s mouthiness will decrease. Due to this behavior, we are recommending a home with older kids. We do not have any history of Ginger with small animals or cats.

Story
Titus is an affectionate 11 year old vision impaired male who adores people of all ages.  He does well with the teens in the foster home as well as a younger child who visits.  Titus is easy going and relaxed around other dogs, calmly greeting them with a wagging tail and sniffs.  This laid back guy loves to spend his day lounging about and napping on his soft pillow.  Although he has free access to the backyard at his foster home, he looks forward to short morning and evening walks.  He may move slowly, but he is a model citizen on leash.  When he isn't sooozing, Titus enjoys chewing on his toys.  This eager-to-please pup is the perfect choice for a family with a relaxed lifestyle.   ##1235821##

Story
Lorelie T is a beautifully proportioned, classic looking female "pocket" German Shepherd.  Lorelie is gentle and affectionate, and loves going on walks.  Her mobility is typical for a senior dog, having no problems with short walks and easily navigating 3-4 steps.  Lorelie is good with some dogs, but she can be selective about who she opens up to and plays with.  She would do best as an only dog in a home without young kids. Lorelie T Summary:- Female, 13 yrs old, 53 pounds- Good with adults, older kids, some dogs- TBD - cats What's Next:  Lorelie is ready for adoption!  Thulani does not charge an adoption fee and provides medical coverage for life.  All Thulani dogs go to their forever homes with a supply of food, a cushy bed, and toys if wanted.  All dogs pass a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into TSGSR.  The tests are not intended to assess how smart the dog is but are important for TSGSR to determine if the dog is expected to be safe in a family home.  The tested behaviors check to see if the dog will guard or protect food or toys from people, will tolerate handling all over its body (including ears, nose, lips to check teeth, lifting paws, belly, back, and gently pulling the tail).  This dog remained calm during all of these tests and showed no aggressive tendencies. ##1715732##

Story
Clarissa T is the pawsfect dog!  She came to Thulani from the Long Beach Shelter in December and is currently being fostered in Southern California. She is an eight year old, spayed female, weighs about 85 pounds and is all that an adopter could ask for. Her energy level is moderate, she is house-trained, very affectionate, has a calm manner about her, friendly with people, OK with dogs, and great with kids. She will accept and give hugs anytime of the day, tail wagging. She also loves her walks, (on occasion will pull on the leash) loves car rides and is crate-trained. She would also do well in learning basic commands. All in all, the pawsfect dog who will make a wonderful companion. Thulani does not charge an adoption fee and provides medical coverage for life.  All Thulani dogs go to their forever homes with a supply of food, a cushy bed, and toys if wanted.  ##1912876##
