Story
Rip Wheeler is a special boy who needs a special home. Rip is a Belgian Malinois mix who was found roaming the streets, doing as he pleased. This hunk weighs in at a whopping 70 pounds (of muscle)! Rip came into the shelter and found himself overwhelmed with all of the commotion that a busy day brings, causing many distractions with his training. Because of this, Rip took a “vacation” to focus on himself at Empire State K9 services, where he was professionally trained. Rip put in the hard work and came back a changed man! This boy THRIVES with consistency, structure and stability. For Rip to continue his success, he will need an active owner who is dedicated to continuing Rip’s personal journey to becoming the best version of himself that we all know he can be. Empire State K9 has offered to work with Rip’s adopter to enable continued success and to aid in a smooth transition to “home life”, something that Rip has not been fortunate enough to have…yet! Although Rip likes other dogs, not all other dogs like him, as his play style is very rough and rowdy. In order for Rip to get the attention and time he needs, he will need to be the only animal in the house. Due to his size, strength and doofiness, Rip will not be placed with children. **Rip qualifies for Pets for Patriots.** please call 860-354-1350 email animalwelfare.socty@snet.net For an application got to aws-shelter.org

Story
This gorgeous girl is Lexi - she is a 10-month-old Belgian Malinois in need of a new home. The man who currently has her said she originally came from a breeder in PA - he got her from a coworker but this man can no longer take care of her. This beauty currently weighs 50 pounds. Lexi is housetrained and is good with other dogs. She hasn't had any cat or child experience but she is nervous with strangers although she loves the people who she considers her family. She is also good in the car but is not crate trained. As you can see from her photos, Lexi really loves her toys. Lexi is microchipped though as well as spayed and up to date on shots & regular vet care. She is a healthy young dog who needs a home where she will get the exercise and stimulation a dog like her needs. Her current owner loves her and he is working with her to help her become an even better version of her beautiful self. If you are interested in meeting Lexi or in finding out more about her, please contact Alex at 973-417-7312 - Lexi is currently located in Boonton Twp, NJ. NOTE: Lexi is NOT a NorthStar Pet Rescue dog but we are helping to network her for a suitable home. NorthStar cannot guarantee the accuracy of this listing, and any applications and inquiries about this pet made will be sent to her owner. December 10, 2023, 8:48 pm

Story
Ash is 1 1/2 year-old Belgian Malinois mix who is learning her manners and what is expected of her while in her foster home. She sits nicely whenever the possibility of a treat comes around and also sits and waits for her meals to be served. She has even taught herself to go to the door when she has to go out. Don’t worry, if you’re not around to see it, she’ll give you a verbal warning. Ash is housebroken and kennel trained, although she prefers a treat or two when entering her kennel. Ash is super sweet and affectionate. She is quick to bond with her human and is a master cuddler and leaner. She is very curious and will want to follow you everywhere you go and watch everything you do. She is a bit of a nervous nelly when it comes to meeting new people and, in true Malinois fashion, she tends to be vocal about her fear. She needs a human who will be understanding and patient with her when it comes to introducing visitors and new friends. Dog introductions should be conducted slowly as well. Ash takes a few days to warm up to her new environment but once she does, her personality shines through. She can run all day in the yard with her furry foster siblings or crash just about anywhere when it’s time to wind down. She loves any and all kinds of toys and will throw them around all by herself. She is an awesome puppy that would bring heaps of love and energy to anyone willing to adopt her. After being rescued from a Texas shelter, NorthStar discovered that Ash has a severe congenital deformity that will lead to congestive heart failure. She will need to be monitored closely for any symptoms (exercise intolerance, coughing, shortness of breath). She is currently on medication for her condition and seeking the care of a cardiologist is recommended. Unfortunately, Ash's longevity will be affected and the doctors feel that she will most likely not reach the age of 5 years. When NorthStar rescued Ash, we never expected that she would have such a short life but we are determined to make what time she has left the best we can. Ash is looking for a very special adopter who will love this sweet girl and give her the care she needs for the rest of her life. If Ash's story has touched your heart and you would like to give this girl a loving home, please fill out an application at www.northstarpets.org & be sure to ask for ASH TX. December 10, 2023, 8:48 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Sasha Rose (TX) is a female German shepherd Malinois mix rescued in Texas. Our veterinary partner estimates that Sasha is 2 years old at the time of intake November 2023. This lovely lady was rescued from a rundown trailer park, where she and three other dogs had been abandoned by their owner when he moved. She was extremely underweight and had been crossing a very busy street to get handouts from people at a food truck. Sasha Rose jumped right in the car and has showed she forgives humans for their letdowns! Sasha is now thriving with love and has a beautiful, silky, short haired coat. She is devoted to her humans and bonds quickly—she is so eager to please. Sasha Rose loves all people she has met, including children. She likes other dogs and is eager to play. She is always ready to go for a car ride and will no doubt be a wonderful walking or jogging partner. The beginning of her life has been rough, but now she needs a caring family who can continue to give her what she deserves— If you think Sasha Rose would be a wonderful addition to your family, p lease apply online to adopt Sasha Rose (TX) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 10, 2023, 10:14 pm

Story
Karla is a 4 year old, black German Shepherd mix. She is exceptionally smart and does amazingly well with her training. Karla will need a kind, committed, confident and active person who can channel her energy and drive and allow her to be the magnificent friend we know she is. She is a lean 50 pounds. Here is the tricky part - Karla does not like strangers, and sometimes other dogs. Karla takes a long time to warm up, and as such she cannot go home with just anyone. She is protective of her people, so she will need a home where this is respected. An experienced dog owner is a must. Shepherd experience is a plus. If you are interested in meeting this wonderful dog (she really is a sweetheart once she knows you!), please fill out an adoption application. Karla had a DNA test and she is: 46% German Shepherd Dog 32% American Pit Bull Terrier 9% Rottweiler 5% Dalmatian 4% American Staffordshire Terrier 2% White Swiss Shepherd 1% Belgian Sheepdog 1% Bohemian Shepherd Dog Karla is housetrained!

Story
Brandi and her sister have been with us for quite a few months, their siblings have been adopted and doing great in their homes. She would love a home to call her own! She is currently in a home with other dogs and a cat and does wonderfully with everyone. Brandi can be shy at first, but is cuddly and loving once she gets to know you. She is very agile and would probably do great with some agility training! She is house trained and does great in a crate! She is looking for an active home who enjoys outdoor activities. She would love a fenced in yard because she loves to play outside. Right now, she is being fostered in Tennessee. The rescue lists in areas where transport is available. They use safe USDA licensed dog transports that will bring her to their new family, once they are adopted! Once you send an application, the rescue will contact you for an interview and be able to send more photos and even videos She is spayed and UTD on all required vaccinations.
