Story
Sylvester Pawllone (AKA Sylvester Stallone) (AKA Sully) is a sweet 1.5 year old and 14 lb Bichon Frise/Maltese mix who had a bit of a “Rocky” start. He was found as a stray on the streets of San Bernardino. With no collar, tag, or microchip, and not neutered, Sylvester came to us through kind-hearted rescuers who wanted to give him a second chance. Sylvester is a friendly and affectionate little boy. He loves to run in the backyard and play, especially with squeaky toys and balls. He adores his walks and does great on the leash. Sully is great with other dogs, enjoys pets, and is quite the cuddler! His foster family also says he seems house-trained / pad trained, and is comfortable in his crate. He would do best in a home without kids. Now fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped, Sully is ready to star in his next big role, as the new member of the wonderful forever family he deserves! ----- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Step 1) Application Step 2) Phone Interview Step 3) Appointment Shelter Hope is operating by appointment only. Be ready to adopt: If selected, our rescue counselor will contact you to schedule a phone interview. Please monitor your email and spam folder for our message. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. More on our process: Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt. The process can take several days. Thank you for your patience!

Story
Meet Songi! She is the sweetest most adorable girll! She is a 3 year old that was rescued from a breeding farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Songi and some of her family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app December 1, 2025, 9:38 pm

Story
Please see the link for her rescue video. Sassy is slow to trust, we like to say that she doesn’t kiss on the first date. But once she is given a little time and space, she is very loyal, affectionate and flirty. She seems to warm to men faster than women. We prefer an adult home, no kids. She can be spicy so we wouldn’t want to risk children not reading her body language. No health issues, no allergies. Good on leash and in the car. Good with the groomer.

JENNY--Help needed JENNY is in need of sponsorship in our sponsorship program to pay for the remainder of her extensive veterinary costs. We are raising funds for all of her diagnostic procedures--Xrays, Ultrasounds, CBC, Urinalysis--for her extensive dental work, and extraction and suturing of six very bad removed teeth, and for her bladder stone removal surgery, JENNY is a Maltipoo, a Maltese/Poodle cross. Jenny is 7 years old and weighs about 15 pounds. She is a cream and white color, and she is also hypoallergenic! JENNY is very intelligent and inquisitive. She is housetrained, sweet, gentle, playful, loving, affectionate, a lot of fun to be with, and not destructive. Dogs like JENNY also require regular ongoing grooming maintenance to prevent dangerous matts and tangles in the fur which can cause serious skin damage. To learn more about additional help we need for JENNY'S veterinary care, please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal email address for sponsorships and donations).
