Lulu is very low-key and not an active dog, making her a wonderful match for someone looking for a calm companion — whether that's a retiree, a quieter household, or anyone who wants a mellow presence at home rather than a high-energy playmate. She thrives on gentle affection and simply being close to her people. As a senior dog, Lulu will need some extra patience and understanding. She needs to pee frequently and may have accidents if she isn't let out often, so she'd do best with someone who's home a lot or can accommodate regular potty breaks throughout the day. She'll also benefit from routine vet check-ins and a soft, comfortable place to rest.

Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Matty is a 10-month old, 5lb Maltipoo that was given up by his owner due to personal issues. He is playful, affectionate, and gets along well with the other three dogs in his foster home. He travels very well and likes going on walks with his foster siblings. He loves to sleep with his humans at night, and enjoys curling up next to them to watch TV or sit out on the porch. He also loves his toys and morning zoomies! Meet Sprout, 5-6 years old This sweet little Maltese weighs around 6 pounds and is super sweet. Sprout was rescued from a puppy mill with his friend Cooper. He's a little bit shy for the first few minutes after meeting you but warms up when a guest gives him a yummy treat. Sprout is used to a secure, fenced yard, so CHR is asking that he go to a home with one. Since his rescue, he is LOVING life! He loves to run around the yard playing and enjoys climbing up to kiss you on your cheek. This little munchkin is used to being around other small dogs in the puppy mill, so we feel he would do best in a household with another small dog. We look forward to hearing from you! Story
Sweet Star came to CHR a year ago in rough condition at the age of 5 or 6 years old.  She lived in a puppy mill, where she was bred to produce puppies for sale. She lived in a small shed with access to the outdoors through a doggie door. Recently, Star was diagnosed with a torn cruciate, so on 6/19 she will have orthopedic surgery to repair the cruciate tear. We’re keeping Star in our Safe Haven Sanctuary while she recovers, but we are still looking for her forever home if the fit is good for you and her.  Star’s foster mom describes her as a beam of sunshine. She’s spunky and full of love and gentleness, and she kisses humans and dogs alike. She enjoys walking through a fenced yard to find just the right spot to eliminate.  We’re asking her to go to a home with a fenced yard. Star loves to nap by your side. She is like a sponge, absorbing your hugs and kisses daily.  One of the biggest challenges with Star is that she will sometimes(1-2 times a week) eliminates on top of dog beds. This could be a marking behavior from being in the puppy mill. Her foster mom picks up the beds before feeding to make sure there are no triggers, like after eating, when she may go eliminate on them or she immediately lets her out for a potty break after eating. Star is also let out every 3 hours during the day for a potty break. At night, she does well without accidents, but she may have accidents for the first few months in any house she goes to, so we recommend diapers for this cutie at night during the beginning of her stay with you. Star does not enjoy being crated, and it's not recommended for a puppy mill survivor.. Check out this patriotic little guy!   Meet Baxter! If you're searching for a loving new family member, your search ends here. Baxter is a 12-pound, 2-3-year-old Malti Tzu (a Maltese and Shih Tzu mix), and he embodies all the best, sweetest traits of both breeds.  Ater a few days in his foster home, Baxter found his voice.  Yes he has that Maltese trait.  For this reason, Baxter is not suited to apartment life.   Baxter was found as a stray in Nashville after someone suspected he’d been hit by a car and brought him to the emergency vet. Thankfully, there were no broken bones>  He has now totally healed from a sore back leg. (Hih had X-rays when he was neutered.  Everything now looks good.) We wish Baxter could tell us what happened and how he ended up on his own—it’s hard to imagine any family not wanting such a sweet boy.   Baxter is both a people-lover and a dog’s dog! He loves to play and would thrive with a young, active canine companion in his forever home. He adores people and always wants to be by your side—be prepared to never be alone again! His leg never slowed him down; he still jumps on the furniture to be with his foster mom whenever steps are available.   This young gentleman walks well on a leash and is fully housebroken. He loves going on adventures and rides like a champ in the car—he even prefers the back seat, though he’s happy on a passenger’s lap, too!
