Story
If you're looking to adopt a sensational senior, Lucy is your girl.  She is an Australian Cattle Dog mix, born Dec 2015.  She is a little timid at first, but will be your best pal once she get to know you.  She is seriously the ideal dog!   She needs a home with a fenced yard and she is usually good with other dogs (we would do a dog intro to make sure she got along with any in your house).  She might prefer to be the only dog in the house, it really depends on the dogs.  She does fine with dogs that don't get in her face.  She gets a little nervous and when they get right in her face.  She's met lots of other dogs she's been fine with.  Here are a few more fun facts: *Good with kids         *House trained *Low energy              *Quiet/doesn't bark much (inside or outside)              *Walks well on a leash *Curious about cats and gets along with them  *Trained to stay off furniture      *No counter surfing for food      *Leaves the trash alone and doesn't chew on anything that is out around the house *She is not kenneled during the day because she's very well behaved, but she is also fine in a kennel. *She only barks if someone rings the doorbell, knocks, or if a visitor leaves. If someone just walks in the house, she doesn't bark. She doesn't even bark at the neighbors or their dogs when she's outside.  *She has 2 medications she takes in the evening for incontinence.  As long as she has them, she doesn't have accidents. She's very good at letting her foster mom know when she needs to go outside.  The medication isn't too expensive.  *She needs to be on Purina ProPlan urinary food. She goes through about a bag and a half during a month.  This food helps reduce the chance of stones forming in her bladder/kidney. *Lucy likes to follow her foster mom around the house to see what she's doing, but if it's not exciting to her, she will go back to her bed and lay down.   If you're looking for a well-behaved senior girl that you don't have to train, Lucy might just be for you. The suggested adoption donation for Lucy is $275. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.  Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page, Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##2046791##

Story
This is Winstorn, an Australian Cattle dog, born Oct 2020.  Winston would love to be on a farm or acreage where he has room to run, play and explore.  Bonus points if you have a job for him as his breed really needs to have something to do.  He has spent time with friends on a large property and their 3 dogs.  He is a little anxious sometimes, but eager to please.  This likely comes from his excess energy and just needing something to do.  Winston is startled by kids screaming and small dogs barking.  He will benefit from some leash training because he is reactive to other dogs when on a leash. Winston is very attentive and affectionate with his people.  He is anxious to find a family that will give him all the attention, snuggles and love he deserves! The suggested adoption donation for Winston is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Adoptions for Winston are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. Story
Treble and his sister, Honey, are adult Blue Heeler/Shepherd mixes (born 2020) who are looking for a home where they may be together.  Treble is deaf and is occasionally skittish and easily startled.  He will be reactive if he thinks a visitor is an intruder in the house, even more so if they are wearing a big hat.  He knows some hand signals such as pointing or a fist up for sit.  He is crate trained, but becomes anxious when left alone. Treble likes being active so his new home needs a fenced yard.  It would be best if the family had no children, cats or small dogs.  Treble and Honey both love to cuddle and will be happy to give all the kisses you want.  Even better if they're allowed on the furniture to nap and sleep! The suggested adoption donation for both Treble and Honey is $550, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Adoptions for Honey and Treble are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that they can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers. Story
Jade is a Blue Heeler mix, born in 2016.  Even though she's a senior, she still likes to be active.  She needs a fenced yard with room to run around and play fetch.  Jade is house trained, crate trained and knows some commands. The perfect home for her is with an active person, preferably a woman.  She is a little nervous around men.  Jade likes to cuddle when it's time for a nap.  She needs to be the only animal, no other dogs and definitely no cats.  Jade would be probably be okay with older kids (age 10+) that understand when she wants attention or when she wants some space. Jade is a little vocal sometimes and will let you know when she has something on her mind.  She will need a separate area for meals so she feels comfortable that no one will take her food.  Jade tends to be reactive if she feels threatened.  She really needs someone who is patient and can give her the time and space to feel comfortable in her new surroundings. The suggested adoption donation for Jade is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Fostered in Sioux City.   Name- my foster Mom is calling me Lucy and I seem to like it! Age- 3ish Breed- mini Aussie What was your life like before NDCB/Where did you come from? A breeding facility Who is your main caretaker/favorite person now? I love all the people I've met so far! My foster mom is my fave so far. Are you good with kids? Not kids tested yet, but I would probably overwhelm a little one. Bigger would be better. What age ranges? 10+ Are you good with other dogs? I have a much older foster sister, so she doesn't want to play with me. I think I'd love another dog to match my energy! Are you good with cats? I bark at the cat, but we haven't met face to face yet. Are you housebroken? Working hard on it! I'm smart so it shouldn't take long What is your current potty routine? Lots of potty breaks when FM is home. I haven't had any accidents in my kennel. Do you like car rides? I did fine in the car, but she wouldn't let me sit on her lap, what's that all about? Do you like walks? When it warms up a little we will see. I think as long as my person is with me I'll be happy! I have a lot of energy to burn off, so I bet I will love them! How are you on a leash? I did fine getting to and from the car! Do you like toys? What's that? Lol just pet me already! What is your favorite toy? Do you know any commands/tricks? I sit on command and am learning not to jump How are your house manners? I get so excited with people I jump on them, we are working on it! Describe your personality- I am super sweet and affectionate and will be your shadow if you'll have me! ♥️ I'm either going 90 mph or dozing on the couch. Describe your perfect home- I LOVE attention from people, so the more to give me pets, the better!

Fostered in Council Bluffs Name- Nutmeg Age- 7 months Breed- Kelpie mix What was your life like before NDCB/Where did you come from? I was found as a stray in South Sioux City. The animal shelter called the sweet people at the Rescue and asked them to take me so I wouldn’t be euthanized. Who is your main caretaker/favorite person now? Foster mom and dad. Are you good with kids? What age ranges?my foster home had a two year old. Kids are fun as long as they play with me! I am a high energy breed so tiny tots might be a little overwhelmed by my enthusiastic greetings but I never mean any harm. Are you good with other dogs? Be VERY specific here I’m great I love to play. Sometimes I get a little rough and need to be told to chill so I would probably be a little too much for senior dogs. But playful dogs…I am ALL IN!!! Are you good with cats? Well., I am a herding/farm breed so cats are REAL fun to chase. I probably shouldn’t be in a home with cats unless you are super dog savvy and can train me to leave them alone. As it stands, I will absolutely chase a furry kitty in the home and I might attempt to get the squeaker out 😬😬 Are you housebroken? I am doing so well in Foster! I have only had one accident inside the home and now my foster siblings have showed me to ring bells when I wanna go outside. It’s pretty cool! What is your current potty routine? I ring bells at my foster home to go outside! Do you like car rides? Yes! I love to ride! I hop right in any car however I should be seatbelted in because sometimes I try and sit in your lap while you’re driving. How was I supposed to know Mom was gonna freak out about that🤷🏻‍♀️ I just wanted to cuddle, her screaming was really unnecessary. Do you like walks? How are you on a leash? What’s a leash? I’m still trying to learn. Do you like toys? What is your favorite toy? Squeaky toys are the very best! But I also like hooves Do you know any commands/tricks? Not yet but will you teach me? I’m super smart and eager to learn. How are your house manners? I’m a bit of a bull in a china shop. I bounce and run and play but I also snuggle. Describe your personality- as I just said I Am a lot. But with some training and love I would be perfect Describe your perfect home-I definitely need a fur sibling who can match my energy. I love to play and love all dogs. I would love a home with an active family member. I would be a great running partner or hiking buddy! I currently sleep in bed with my foster parents and would love to continue that. I’m not a bed hog. I go right to the bottom of the bed and go to sleep.

Story
Name: Miss Norma Jeannie (spayed female) Age: 1-2 years old Breed: Mini Australian Shepard What was your life like before NDCB/where did you come from: I came from a home with 40 other dogs in kennels. Who is your main caretaker/favorite person now? My foster mom. Are you good with kids? I keep my distance with the 16 and 14 year old in the home, I am still a nervous girl. Are you good with other dogs? Yes, I have come to love my foster sisters. Jewel is an Australian Shepard (7) and Betty a mixed breed (2). We have a really rambunctious time together. Are you good with cats? Yes, I have been around 5 cats and they don’t interest me very much. Do I like car rides? I have been enjoying traveling with my foster mom to and from her office. I love looking out the windows on the way and sleeping on the way home. Do you like walks? We have gone on short walks as I am still a little nervous being followed. How are you on a leash? I am really trying my hardest to adjust to the leash. I love to chew on it and do an occasional acrobatic stunt when it’s on me. With time and patience I will enjoy it! Do you like toys? Yes I love my chew toys and love watching my foster sisters retrieve their ball. I would like to add that to my list of hobbies soon! Do you know any commands/tricks? I’m still pretty shy working on my commands. How are your house manners? I still will pace back and forth when at my home. It will improve soon. My foster mom didn’t like me crying at night so she lets me sleep in her bed, I do very well all night. I need a back yard that is fenced in so I can feel the freedom off the leash. I need lots of love and a patient human to show me truly how to be a dog.
