Story
Meet Pythagoras! THRIVING IN FOSTER! This 50-pound border collie/husky mix is five years old and is as wonderful as they come! You don't have to be a math whiz to realize how special this boy is! Pythagoras is currently living it up in his fabulous foster home and we are excited to share all we've learned about this amazing boy. House-trained & crate-trained, he aims to please! He knows a few different commands and is highly trainable. Pythagoras lives with a feline friend currently, and while interested in the cat, he does respond to correction. We think he may have the capacity to live with a dog-savvy show can hold their own. Curious and playful, Pythagoras enjoys his time outdoors. He enjoys all sorts of outings. He rides well in the car, is good on leash, and is ready to hit the town with you! Check out his outing video! He also loves playing with other pups. If you're looking for a pal for your dog, check him out! He'd make an excellent travel pal and hiking buddy too! Handsome and attentive, this boy is the whole package. He already knows how to sit and is a fan of all sorts of treats. He has a sensitive side and loves to be close to his people. You'll often find Pythagoras nuzzled up on a comfy chair next to his people where he proceeds to give the best kisses! He'll never pass up a belly rub and is a very connecting boy. Pythogoras loves all sorts of toys and would benefit from food puzzles and other toys providing mental stimulation. Keeping him engaged is key to keeping him a happy boy! He does well in the bath and hasn't found a treat he doesn't like! His foster family has no issues taking food or toys away. Pythagoras with thrive in an active home with lots of daily exercise, continued training with boundaries, and a yard to enjoy. He will need lots of mental stimulation and will make and excellent companion for years to come. Someone with border collie experience is preferred. At the end of the day, he sleeps quietly through the night and will curl up with you in bed if allowed. Based on our evaluation, we feel Pythagoras would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. He may have the capacity to live in a home with other dogs and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think he could be the pup for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our playful Pythagoras!

Story
Hello, I'm Flash, a young and energetic pup with a heart full of hope and a mind full of potential! I'm a friendly and social guy who just adores the company of people. I am about a year old and 41 pounds of love. With my keen intelligence, I'm always up for a good mental challenge, and I find great joy in tasks and activities that keep my mind active and engaged. In my downtime, I love nothing more than forming deep connections with my favorite people. I'm an extremely affectionate boy who thrives on leadership and direction. I'm also sensitive and responsive to my surroundings, taking cues from those around me to guide my actions. An ideal day for me includes a good hike with a purpose—perhaps with a backpack to carry some gear? I love feeling useful and part of a team! I'm always eager to please and ready for adventures, big or small. I'm looking for a special family who understands the unique traits and needs of my herding breed. I just love other dogs, so if there is another friendly pup in the home, I would love to meet them. My best friend here at the rescue is Alistair, we have so much fun together. I have a very balanced play style and can let other dogs take the lead, I seem to be very tolerant of other dog's shenanigans! A home with active individuals who can provide me with the mental stimulation and physical exercise I thrive on would be perfect and where any children are at least 13 years old. In return, I promise to be your loyal companion, offering endless love and fun adventures. With my boundless enthusiasm and devotion, I know I can be the paw-some addition to your life that you've been waiting for. I would love it if you came to meet me, I think I am the perfect blend of fun and affection and I can't wait for a family to love. If you are interested in Flash and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
***Archie is in a foster home, so he is not at the kennel. If you are interested in him, please fill out an application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch. Thank you*** Did somebody say toys, Archie is in! He is estimated to be about a year old and weighs 52 pounds. Meet Archie, he is a bundle of silly joy, and a playful, curious pup who is looking for his forever family. This brave boy came to K9 with a rare skin condition that required months of medical treatment that caused some hair loss. With the care of a great veterinary team and a dedicated foster, he has recovered wonderfully, and his new hair is slowly growing back. Archie will soon be a very handsome guy (well, we of course thought he was handsome the whole time)! He is very connecting and loves to hang out with you. You can tell how smart he is by how he watches you, wanting to please. Archie is looking for an active family who can keep up with his playful nature and provide him with plenty of mental and physical stimulation. He will bring endless happiness and love to his new home with his goofy puppylike antics and cheerful disposition. He will need a home where any children are at least 8 years old. Archie would just love it if you wanted to meet him. His foster mom has so many wonderful things to say about him: Archie is a joy to have. He loves toys and tennis balls. He is all happy puppy and is working on a few more commands and being a little better on a leash. He is super smart and very correctable and loves to learn. He loves being outside, going for walks and exploring. He is crate trained & pretty much house trained. He has not been exposed to cats but gets along great with my basset hound. He enjoys being close to you and is a great boy! He has learned to love car rides also. If you are interested in Archie and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. Always wanting to be apart of everything. He is crate trained and potty trained. Origami is approximately 6-7 years old.He has been good with other dogs and our current cat. Origami should have an active home with many walks and interactions with other dogs. But he is also good to just lay around with.He can become a little possessive over toys, bones and food, which is important to keep in mind.We have recently moved, therefore Origami is located in Grand Ledge, Michigan!
