Story
Age: 1 year Breed: Border Collie mix Sex: Male Weight: 40 lbs Energy Level: Moderate/Still building confidence Jesse is a tenderhearted young Collie mix who recently made the trip from Kentucky to his foster home in southeast Michigan — where the snow was a big new experience! Despite all the changes in his world, Jesse has shown himself to be incredibly gentle, quiet, and people-oriented. He loves pets and is warming up well to his foster family. As he gains confidence, he is starting to show more of his playful puppy energy and behaviors, but he responds well to structure and redirection. Jesse is naturally curious but still finding his confidence. He has begun going on short walks, and he uses a leash well for bathroom breaks while he continues to learn that the world outside is a safe place. With encouragement and routine, he’s already making steady progress. He is crate-trained, sleeps quietly through the night, and has done very well when left alone. This boy is also potty-trained and knows basic cues like “sit” and “no.” Jesse is very food-motivated, which makes training rewarding and fun. Jesse is one of those rare, young dogs who comes with a naturally calm, gentle presence. He’s affectionate, eager to learn, and incredibly resilient for all he's been through. He does have a herding instinct, which he has displayed toward cats and toward young children. He is gentle with the foster family’s four-year-old, but his herding behavior can be overwhelming for small kids. Because of this, he may be best in a home without cats or very young children. With time, consistency, and love, his personality will continue to blossom, and he’ll repay you with loyalty, sweetness, and endless cuddles. Neutered and up to date on vaccinations. Jesse Facts: - Quiet; not a barker (though might give out a few yips when excited about a treat) - No chewing tendencies observed - Good with baths and handling - Nervous in new situations but adapts with support - Good history with other dogs (per previous foster), though he hasn’t met any in his current home yet - Jesse has shown some herding/prey-drive behaviors toward cats, so he would do best in a cat-free home - Has shown playful herding behavior toward young children; may do best in a home without small kids Please visit Jesse and his friends on our web page. https://www.midwestbordercollierescue.org/alldogs

Story
Journey is a very energetic young dog whom is driven to work (herding). He loves to go for walks, and chase the ball, and animals too. Journey has high level of energy characteristic of Border Collies. He needs to be busy fetching, or working to coral animal he sees that need to be herded. Journey needs to be in an environment where the people that own him realize that he needs daily exercise and needs to be mentally stimulated (encouraging him to be what God designed him to be....a working dog taking care of the flock). He does not interact with cats well as he want to herd them. He has been potty trained to go outside and also knows a few commands for treats such as sit, stay, shake, down and wait when coming in doors. He has crate trained. He does struggle with staying though especially when distracted when a work opportunity (herding) presents itself. He has been a patient of Integrative Veterinary Services of Southeast MI.
