I adopted Rocky in 2023 he was one year old at the time. He and his brother had been at the shelter since they were 6 weeks old. He is half Collie and half Pyrenees. His personality is all Pyrenees. He doesn't like children at all. He has some anxiety issues and was on doggy Xanax at the shelter. They said the anxiety was caused by the shelter. My son and I wanted a pet and he is very cuddly and sweet but he would prefer to spend most of his time outside. He lives in an apartment with me now and seems sad most of the time. He is without a doubt the BEST watch dog on earth. He'll let you know if someone is coming. He would never let someone rob you. Even though he's a working dog by breed, he's never actually worked but I'm sure he'd love too. He does not do any tricks or follow any commands. If you ever met a Pyr you know what I'm saying. He's not food motivated at all. He's pretty indifferent to dog treats. He likes people food if you offer it but he doesn't beg

JB is a sensitive, intelligent dog who is slowly learning to trust the world again. He recently made the long trip back from Iowa and handled it without any issues. Since arriving, he has begun settling into a predictable routine and has made strong bonds with the resident dogs—especially the Malinois and a female German Shepherd he absolutely adores. JB is skittish by nature and will need a patient adopter who can give him the space and time he needs. He is wary of new people and uncomfortable with handling. While he wags his tail and shows clear affection toward his trusted person, he does not enjoy being touched and often stiffens when petted. He will lick your hand when you’re not looking, but he’s not yet comfortable taking treats from hands. With the right person, he may continue to grow, but he will need an adopter who respects his boundaries. JB is not recommended for homes with men, as he is generally fearful of them. A female-only home is ideal. He should also not live with cats or young children. Teenagers may be okay as long as they understand his space and needs. On the bright side, JB does beautifully with other dogs and may benefit from living with a confident canine companion. He enjoys herding-type activities, loves to run, and frequently plays with the dogs in his foster home. Outdoors, he no longer chases the horses and respects their space. He does fairly well on walks and tends to circle his person, keeping close. While he hasn’t been off-leash, he has a solid recall and doesn’t try to run off when outside. JB is housebroken, kennel trained, and goes into both his indoor and outdoor kennels easily. He knows a few basic commands like “come,” “sit,” and “kennel.” A patient training approach—or even a class—could help him build confidence, but he will need a trainer familiar with fearful dogs. JB’s ideal home is quiet, structured, and led by a patient woman who understands nervous, shut-down, or fearful dogs. A fenced yard, another friendly dog, and a calm environment would help him continue to progress. Inside the home he tends to pace, but once things are still, he settles. Sudden movements send him retreating to his kennel, though he returns once the environment is calm again. JB is a project dog—but a rewarding one for the right person. With time, consistency, and compassion, he will continue to blossom at his own pace. He’s looking for someone who sees beyond his fears and is ready to offer him the gentle, steady love he’s learning to trust. Archie is a 3-year-old Border Collie who came to me as a stray, and I have had him for about two years. He is loving, affectionate, playful, intelligent, and very people-oriented. He loves meeting new friends, cuddling, fetch, walks, hikes, and especially training activities that make him feel like he has a job to do. He has completed extensive professional training, and his trainer is willing to provide a transition lesson with his new owners. Archie has done well with both large and small dogs and has a great balance of energy and calm. He can happily keep up with adventures and active play, but also settles easily at home. Like many herding breeds, he can become very focused on moving things such as cars, cats, and squirrels. I am looking for a loving, active home that will appreciate his intelligence, affection, and playful personality and continue providing exercise, structure, and engagement.

Tux was found as a stray at 3 1/2mos, taken to a vet clinic, in rural Kansas. He was adopted to a family with kids but returned because he was too much work. Tux was brought into rescue and absolutely thriving in his foster home. Tux is happy go lucky, loves every human he has encountered, and loves all dogs. He was cat tested in the vet clinic, showing no interest. He LOVES all toys especially squeaky toys, having one close by at all times. He loves bones, will share everything with his foster sister. He loves his foster sister, running and playing chase in the yard. He is fast and athletic, perhaps sports in his future, fly ball or agility? Tux will retrieve a ball, bring it back for you to throw again. Tux is really a blank slate, might enjoy running, camping, hiking, patio dog for coffee or lunch, family dog. He would thrive as a solo dog, or with a family looking for an addition of another friendly dog. Tux walks well on a leash, has good recall, and learning commands. He is smart and eager to learn. He is treat motivated and attentive to his person, will need confidence building and positive training, and would thrive in an obedience class. He is house trained and kennel trained. Foster mom says he LOVES to cuddle! Couch, chair, your lap, belly rubs, head rubs, he loves all of that. He has a great laid back off switch. Maverick is an almost 3-year-old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix looking for a very special home. Maverick is a sweet, intelligent, playful, and loyal dog who loves his people and enjoys playing, learning, and spending time with those he trusts. He is house-trained, listens well to his owners, and has worked with a professional trainer to help him with his behavioral challenges. Maverick is also a fearful and reactive dog and finding the right environment for him is extremely important. He can become uncomfortable around unfamiliar people, young children, and movement coming toward him. When he is scared or overwhelmed, he may bark, growl, or try to create distance from the situation. Maverick’s family has a young child who is now 1 and becoming increasingly mobile. Because of Maverick’s sensitivity to movement and their home’s limited space, his family has had to keep him and their son separated and carefully manage their interactions. After working with a trainer and exploring different options, they believe Maverick would have a better quality of life in a home that is better suited to his needs. He enjoys car rides, loves playing in the back yard with his red/yellow ball, and puzzle toys (did we mention he’s so smart)? He is good with other dogs after introductions. Maverick is up to date on his vaccines and neutered.
