Story
Meet Linda — Our Little Cinderella Story  At just 1½ years old, Linda has already lived through a fairy tale transformation. Found on the side of a gravel road—malnourished, covered in fleas, and with almost no fur—no one could even tell what kind of dog she was. But with love, care, and time, this beautiful Border Collie mix has truly blossomed. Linda is a gentle, tender-hearted soul. She enjoys soft pets and scratches, but she’s also content relaxing on her own. When the playful mood strikes, she’ll delight you with her adorable backyard zoomies alongside her foster dog friends. She can be a bit shy at first and needs time to warm up, but once she trusts you, she shines. Linda would thrive with another playful dog in the home—someone who can guide her, build her confidence, and help her continue her journey. Because she’s still learning leash skills, a securely fenced yard is essential for her safety and comfort. Linda is fully potty trained and completely trustworthy without a crate. She truly went from rags to riches, and now she’s ready for her happily-ever-after. Linda’s perfect home includes:  A friendly, playful companion dog  A secure fenced yard  A patient family ready to love her like the princess she is If you're ready to give this Cinderella her forever castle, Linda is waiting.  If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Linda’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
🐾 Meet Finn, a handsome and sweet medium-sized pup (around 45 lbs) born on November 1st, 2023. While we're playing the guessing game on his breed (maybe a Border Collie mix?), his wonderful personality is crystal clear!💖 And get this – Finn has a SECRET ADMIRER! This amazing person has gifted him an incredible adoption starter kit that includes: * A comfy Martingale collar for safe walks * A sturdy leash for adventures * A seatbelt to keep him secure on car rides * SIX MONTHS of heartworm prevention to keep him healthy! But wait, there's more! Finn has just embarked on an amazing journey. He's a graduate from the SWATT program at Shawnee Correctional Center! Over 12 weeks, Finn worked with dedicated handlers to learn all his basic commands and so much more. He's now more prepared to become a wonderful companion in his forever home!Finn and his siblings came to us needing a some extra TLC after their previous owner could no longer care for them. This means Finn is a bit timid at first, but trust us, beneath that shyness is a loving heart just waiting to blossom with patience, gentle attention, and lots of love. We've also heard through the grapevine that this charming boy has a soft spot for cheese and hotdogs – the way to his heart might just be through his stomach! 😉 He also loves to be close to his people, so he's looking for a home where he can be a cherished member of the family.Could you be the one to give Finn the loving and patient forever home he deserves? This special boy will come to you with a wonderful foundation of training thanks to the SWATT program and a great started kit #SecretAdmirerIf you have a gentle heart and room in your life to help a truly special dog to blossom, please reach out to learn more about adopting Finn! ❤️#SweetBoy #AdoptionStarterKit #LookingForHomePlease visit: Https://www.stfrancis-care.org/adopt for adoption information including the adoption application

Can You Give Felicity the Furever Home She Deserves? 🐾Meet Felicity, a sweet & gentle soul born on 11/1/23. This beautiful, medium-sized pup, possibly a Border Collie mix, came to us with her 5 siblings when their previous owner could no longer care for them. While her whole litter is quite timid, we truly believe Felicity will blossom in a loving, patient, & quiet home!Felicity may be the definition of shy, but don't let that fool you—she's incredibly sweet & longs for affection. She just needs time, gentle attention, & soft voices to feel safe. Once she warms up, her true personality will shine through! She loves being outdoors, running around, & given enough time & patience, she'll even snuggle up by your side. She also gets along well with other dogs!Outside of the shelter, some of Felicity's fears melt, & she'll even take tasty bits of cheese right from your hand. Imagine the progress she'll make with consistent love & a calm environment! If you have a quiet home & a big heart ready to give Felicity the time, love, & patience she needs to come out of her shell, please consider opening your home to her. Story
I'm a college graduate! I spent 10 weeks at MSU training with the students there in the DARR School of Agriculture in their Companion Animal Program. I was already a sweet girl, but now I’m trained and really ready to be the best girl ever for a new family. Won’t you give me a chance? Hi, I'm Gabi! I'm a Border Collie/Heeler/German Shepherd mix! I'm very sweet and affectionate and I am looking for a home that can keep up with me.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis, MO. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas.  All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2488927##
