Story
What’s up, future bestie? I’m Billy, a 20-month-old Dutch Shepherd/Border Collie mix (yes, I swear the Dutch Shepherd is in there somewhere). I’m here to tell you why adopting me will be the most chaotic—and BEST—decision of your life. First things first: I’ve got boundless energy. Like, forget the Energizer Bunny—I’m on a whole other level. Some might say I’m “on crack” (but legally, it’s just my personality). I’m basically a dog-shaped Velociraptor with an Olympic-level zoomie game. If you’ve got a dog who loves to play and can match my level of insanity, we’ll be BFFs in no time. 🦖🐾 Cats? Meh, not really my vibe—unless your cat is super dog-savvy and can handle my velociraptor energy.
Small dogs? Nah, they’re not ready for this jelly.
Big dogs who love chaos? YES, LET’S GO. Now, about strangers... they’re weird, and I’m not always sure how I feel about them at first. But once I figure out they’re cool, I’m all in. Just give me a little time to warm up, and I’ll be their favorite Velociraptor, too. What else? Oh, yeah—I LOVE to play. Fetch? Yes. Tug? Yes. Games that haven’t been invented yet? Also yes. I’m always ready to go-go-go, and I need a human who’s just as excited about adventure as I am. Hiking, running, or just wearing each other out in the backyard—sign me up. So, if you’ve got energy for days, a sense of humor, and no small creatures who’ll scream when I zoom, let’s do this. Adopt me, and I’ll make your life as exciting as a Jurassic Park sequel (without the dinos eating people, I promise). Adopt Billy—because life is better with a little chaos. 🐾🦴

Story
Say hello to SCOUT ✨ Purebred Merle Border Collie 🐾 DOB 7/4/25 • 37 lbs Scout is a smart, affectionate guy who’s equal parts athlete and cuddle bug 💙 He has a very sweet disposition with people and has done great with everyone he’s met. While he enjoys walks in the neighborhood, he truly needs to be the ONLY pet in the home where he can soak up all the love and attention for himself (no cats either)💙 His absolute favorite thing in the world? BALLS 🎾 Toss one for him and he’ll happily play fetch over and over again. He also loves treats, bones, and spending time with his people. ✨ Scout highlights ✨ • Extremely loving and affectionate • Happy to sleep in a dog bed or human bed — and would LOVE the opportunity to wake you up with kisses 🥹 • Walks like an absolute champ on leash • Not leash reactive and does well walking in public spaces but NO dog parks! • Very smart and highly trainable • Knows basic commands including sit, down, place, and come • Rides well in the car • Does not require a crate *Would thrive with exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation •Would love a large fenced yard and an active home committed to walks/adventures. He recently completed a stay-and-train program and has been such a rockstar learner. He’s eager to please, easy to work with, and the kind of dog that bonds deeply with his people. Scout is also a healthy guy with a clean bill of health! This handsome boy is ready for a forever home that will appreciate both his active side and his incredibly loving heart . We think he's going to be very popular so please submit a Long Road Home Application that you'll find on the LRH.com website (lrhrescue.com) if you're interested. No phone calls please.

Story
Meet Hanni   • Name: Hanni • Age: 2 years • Sex: Spayed Female • Breed: Border Collie Mix • Color: Black & White • Weight: 13 kg • Height (shoulder): 45 cm   Rescue Story In February 2025, Hanni and another dog were abandoned at a slaughterhouse by their owner. After the facility shut down, they were transferred to a municipal shelter. Hanni was rescued in March 2025 and has been preparing for her forever home ever since.   ‍‍ Social with People Hanni is incredibly affectionate and people-oriented. She happily approaches both familiar faces and strangers, leaning in for pets and attention without hesitation. She enjoys being held, shows her belly once comfortable, and loves physical affection.   She has been gentle with children around 13 years old, though she has not been tested with infants or toddlers.   In unfamiliar environments such as the vet, she may become nervous and resist handling—especially around sensitive areas like her hindquarters. However, in her foster home, she does very well with grooming, baths, nail trims, and daily care routines.   She loves interactive play with people, including tug and fetch, and truly thrives on human companionship.   Social with Other Dogs Hanni is curious and interested in other dogs, often wanting to approach and greet them during walks. She is currently learning to wait and practice better leash manners.   Because she can be a bit forward, she may come across as overly enthusiastic or “rude” to some dogs. She can be pushy with smaller dogs, so supervision is important. With larger dogs, she tends to be more respectful.   Once comfortable in an open environment, she plays well and currently coexists nicely with her foster dog. However, if provoked, she may engage in conflict, so careful introductions to new dogs are recommended.   With Cats Hanni shows curiosity toward cats during walks but follows her handler well when redirected. She may try to chase birds.   Energy Level As a Border Collie mix, Hanni has a higher-than-average energy level. She benefits greatly from regular outdoor exercise and mental stimulation such as training, games, or enrichment activities.   ‍ Walking & Exercise Hanni is currently working on loose-leash walking. She tends to pull, especially when excited or when she sees other dogs. She enjoys running more than slow walks and may vocalize (bark or make sounds) when excited.   Other Behaviors • No food guarding toward people or dogs • Eats well with no picky habits • Crate trained (eats and rests comfortably in crate) • Travels well, including long car rides • Rarely barks, but may bark when playing or seeking attention • Does not bark at visitors   Training Hanni knows: Sit Down Stay Paw Speak House (crate command)   She is smart, eager to engage, and will thrive with continued training and structure.   Ideal Home Hanni would do best with an active adopter who can match her energy and provide both physical exercise and mental stimulation. She will make a loving, fun, and devoted companion for someone ready to engage with her bright and energetic personality.   Hanni is full of love, energy, and potential—she just needs the right person to share her life with. Story
Meet Aesop – A Tiny Survivor with a Big Personality   Approximately 3 Months Old Female (Not yet) Border Collie Mix 5.5kg | 33cm shoulder height   Aesop’s story began in a shelter after her Border Collie mother was brought in while pregnant in February. Sadly, out of three puppies born at the shelter, only one survived — little Aesop. Despite such a difficult beginning, she has grown into a bright, affectionate, and confident puppy full of life and love.   ‍‍ Social with People Aesop is an incredibly social and people-loving puppy. She happily approaches both familiar people and strangers, enjoys affection from everyone, and easily allows handling. She loves both men and women, enjoys being picked up, and will even roll over to show her belly to people she has just met.   Social with Other Dogs She is equally friendly with other dogs and loves to greet and play with everyone she meets. Even large dogs don’t intimidate her — she confidently bounces right in to play! She may act fearless with other dogs, but when playing with her mom, she quickly rolls over belly-up like the sweetest little daughter.   Cats Her reaction to cats has not yet been observed, but cat testing can be arranged.   Energy Level Aesop has a typical puppy energy level. She enjoys running around and playing, but also sleeps a lot and settles down nicely after activity.   Walks She has not yet had formal walks outdoors due to her young age.   Other Notes No food guarding toward people or other dogs Calm and quiet inside a kennel/crate Currently uses both pee pads indoors and pottys outdoors   She does show some mild separation anxiety at first and may bark when initially left alone, though she typically begins adjusting after a few days. Continued training and gradual independence practice will help her build confidence.   Like many smart puppies, Aesop can also be a little vocal when she wants something!   Aesop is looking for a loving family ready to guide a smart, social, and affectionate puppy through all the adventures of growing up. With her confidence, sweetness, and resilient spirit, she is sure to become an amazing lifelong companion. Story
Meet Wendy, a sweet and energetic 1-year-old Border Collie mix who’s ready to find her forever home. Weighing 41 lbs, Wendy is the perfect medium-sized companion for an active family or anyone who loves a dog with intelligence, curiosity, and playful energy. She was rescued from a southern shelter and is now ready to start a new chapter filled with love, adventure, and companionship. Wendy is affectionate and loves spending time with her humans, always eager for playtime, walks, or learning new tricks. While she is very friendly and loving with people, she is selective with other dogs, so a home where she can be the center of attention or meet compatible canine companions would be ideal. With her sweet nature, lively spirit, and loyal heart, Wendy is ready to bring joy, energy, and companionship to the right forever family who can appreciate her special personality. *Some of our adoptable dogs may not show their true personalities in the kennel, so we encourage you to ask to meet them outside, take them for a walk, and spend some one-on-one time together to see who they really are.*
