Current Location: Korea 🇰🇷 ♡ 🧡 Meet Ma-eum A gentle soul learning to love again Ma-eum spent his early years tied outside on a farm, living in fear. He was abused by a male owner and frightened by children who threw balls at him. Because of that, he is still afraid of men, loud playground sounds, and the sight of bouncing toys. But despite all this, Ma-eum has the gentlest heart. For the past two years, he has been living in a patient and loving foster home. He has made slow, steady progress — on his terms — and is now ready for the next chapter of his life. 🧬 Personality Ma-eum is a quiet, thoughtful boy with a soft energy. He feels safest around gentle women with warm voices, and he truly thrives in calm, peaceful homes. He may keep his distance from men indoors, but sometimes shows more courage when outdoors. He isn’t the kind of dog who will run into your arms — but with time and patience, he’ll follow you anywhere. He enjoys peaceful walks, nosework games, gentle pets, and long naps by your side. He doesn't bark much, and he waits quietly when left alone after a short adjustment. 🏡 At Home ✅ House-trained (prefers peeing on vertical surfaces — his foster can provide wall-to-floor pads) ✅ Good with calm dogs (interested and social but may growl at overly excited dogs) ✅ Neutral to cats (no strong prey drive) ✅ Tolerates children (nervous around fast movements but never aggressive) ✅ Excellent in the car ✅ Loves brushing and gentle touch 🚫 Afraid of balls and squeaky toys — he prefers games with treats instead 💛 Ma-eum is looking for… A family who will let him set the pace. Someone who doesn’t expect instant cuddles but understands how meaningful it is when a shy dog chooses to stay close. Ideally, a female adopter or a quiet household with gentle energy. 📦 Foster home can provide pee pad setup 📍 Adoption includes interview & home check 📩 If Ma-eum’s story touched your heart, we’d love to tell you more. He’s been waiting a long time for someone who sees past the fear — and into his true, beautiful heart

Story
Meet CoCo   Name: CoCo Age: 1 year Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Border Collie Mix Color: Black / White / Brown Weight: 10 kg Height: 43–45 cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story CoCo was rescued on November 19, 2025, from a severe animal hoarding case involving over 200 dogs. He was extremely fearful of people when first rescued, but after one month in a foster home, he has made remarkable progress and has learned that humans can be kind and safe.    With People   CoCo may be a little shy at first, but once treats come out, he quickly warms up and starts trusting. After he bonds with someone, he enjoys being touched and can even be picked up by supporting his belly. When he feels close to you, he will roll over and show his tummy as a sign of affection.   His confidence with people has grown significantly — he now shows interest in people on walks and has recently started paying special attention to women, sometimes wanting to follow them. He also prefers to sleep close to his people.    With Other Dogs   CoCo is generally neutral toward other dogs. He doesn’t seek out play and usually ignores dogs that approach him. However, he can feel nervous around dogs larger than himself. If another dog acts pushy or challenging, CoCo chooses to avoid the situation rather than react.    With Cats & Birds   When he sees cats on walks, he may look at them with curiosity, but he will follow his handler when guided. He may show a brief chasing response toward birds.    Energy Level   CoCo has a moderate energy level. He enjoys outdoor activities and especially loves walking, running, and moving. After exercise, he settles down well and relaxes calmly.    On Walks   CoCo loves walks and prefers brisk walking or jogging over sniffing. He does pull on leash, but he follows his handler and is currently practicing better leash manners. He has recently become more interested in people while walking, which can distract him, so continued training will help.    At Home & Other Notes • No food guarding with people or dogs • Rarely barks, but may bark to ask for something • May whine briefly in a kennel, then settles • Jumps into and out of the car on his own • Uses both pee pads and outdoor potty • Not very interested in toys • Knows “sit” and “paw,” currently learning “down” • Recently showing some separation anxiety — gradual alone-time training is recommended • Has chewed phone charging cables, so wires should be kept out of reach • Currently teething, so safe chew toys are important • Not food-obsessed, but happily takes treats   CoCo is a gentle, sensitive, and affectionate boy who has overcome a difficult past. With patience, structure, and love, he will continue to grow into a loyal and wonderful companion  Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org Please also visit our Facebook or Instagram.  Currently in Korea  Available to Canada & U.S. ##2627856##

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Betsy (TX) is a female border collie mix rescued in Texas.  Our veterinary partner estimates that she is 1.5  yrs old at the time of intake in June 2025.  This poor girl was found on the streets, nearly dead, annorexic, tied to a pole. Her mate was left for dead, but she hung on.  Luckily RDR got to her and she is healing up wonderfully. She is eating and gaining her strength back. She is getting ready to head to the Northeast where her forver family can show her she is truly loved! Please apply online to adopt Betsy (TX) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 24, 2025, 2:36 am

Story
Say Hello to Julian! (Born 8/30/2024) he is 34 pounds of sweetness! We guess he might be a Smooth Coated Border Collie mix. Julian came to us from a situation where nervous energy surrounded him, and like the sensitive guy he is, he absorbed some of that. But good news! With patience, consistency, and plenty of encouragement (especially when treats are involved), he’s been making wonderful progress since arriving here. Understandably, city sounds and the hustle bustle are overwhelming to Julian, so we are looking for a home in a quieter area. Julian really enjoys treats, one on one time, playing with other dogs and we are seeking a home for him with a yard where he can stretch his long legs and enjoy the fresh air. We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home. The Humane Society of New York was founded in 1904. The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We also have a great adoption matchmaking team who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. We start the process once you have submitted an application to us. FOR AN APPLICATION, please visit http://humanesocietyny.org/adoptions/ and download then email your application to hsny.adopt@gmail.com. Our one and only location is: 306 East 59th Street (between 1st & 2nd Avenue) in Manhattan. If you'd like to sponsor Julian, please email amk.hsny@verizon.net. You can give as much or as little as you like. Your donation is tax deductible. Thank you! For additional information on the Humane Society of New York, please visit: humanesocietyny.org. Thank you!

Story
This is BEN! This 23 pounds and ~5 months old as of October. We think he’s a “Borador” (Lab/Border Collie mix). Ben is a typical happy puppy who loves to play, and gets along great with all dogs! We really have nothing more to say about him because he’s such a sweetie. Ben and some other puppies were found under a bridge with their mama (or another adult female dog, we don’t actually know if it was their mom) who were all dumped there. Our founder feeds a dog who lives under the bridge every day and someone must have known this and left these dogs for us to rescue. If you are interested in this great puppy, please complete an application from our site: https://www.miraclesforsatosrescue.org/adoption-foster-application Applications must be complete to be considered. Your application will not get lost ! We are a small but efficient rescue ! ____________________________________________ PLEASE NOTE: This dog is currently in Puerto Rico. Once an adopter is fully approved, transport will be arranged to New York. In addition, if you are applying for this dog or any of our pups, you must be open to dog psychology/behavior (Cesar Millan) and fulfilling the needs of the dog. We strive for our dogs to be adopted into the right home. The best fit for the dog is our priority. We ask that you please make sure if interested in a puppy or high energy breed that you are ready for this time consuming/daily endeavor and have patience as this is a long term commitment (could be 15+ years). Please consider your future lifestyle after COVID. Please make sure you are ready to properly exercise and give a dog all it needs for fulfillment. Your ongoing time and day-to-day commitment is the most important thing in caring for a dog. In addition we cannot guarantee breed of any dog or expected adult size of a puppy. Thank you for understanding.

These pups are in Garden City, New York too!

Story
Location: Syosset, NY This approx. 1year old ACD mix is up for anything, whether it’s chilling in the doggie pool or hanging back with a kong or bone. He loves playing with toys and will amuse himself by throwing around a ball when you aren't available to play fetch with him. Looking for a chill night in? Bubba is down for that, too! He's the perfect tv companion and enjoys hanging out near his people in the evenings. Energy-wise he is on the calmer side of medium, so he doesn't need to run 5ks to feel content. He currently has a few dog house mates and would love to have a sibling of his own. He also seems to not mind cats if he sees one walking about outside. Bubba is well behaved, rarely barks, and has even completed a beginner training class! He's great on leash, knows basic commands, and does well meeting new dogs. He loves car rides and has done well out shopping, which has been good for working on his confidence around new people. He can currently be a little timid around unfamiliar adults, but gets a kick out of watching kids especially if they are playing nearby or doing something goofy. Bubba was pulled from a shelter with his siblings back when he was an 8 week old pup and neither mom nor dad were there with them, so unfortunately breed mix is a question mark. His siblings had markings more typical of ACD mixes, so it's safe to say that's in there somewhere! At a lean 40lbs, he's a perfect medium size and likely won't get much bigger. Bubba is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots/monthly preventatives. He is house trained with the use of a bell, and does well crated for short periods during the day with a kong to keep him occupied. He prefers the couch overnight and does well sleeping through the night.   He sleeps through fireworks ,Doesn’t mind taking naps in the crate.  He can sometimes want to steal the ball from house mates. He lets kids pet him. Sometimes he will try and herd other dogs if they allow it.  Not a strong prey drive. Will playfully chase a bunny ..  Come meet your new best friend Bubba today! Story
Location: Louisville, KY   Sup, I’m Gary. Oh, you don’t know me? Don’t worry, you will! Let’s get the boring stuff out of the way: I’m like 6ish months old, 30 pounds, getting neutered soon, good on my vaccinations and preventatives, most likely a cattle dog mix, definitely the life of the party, absolutely the guy for you. Okay, also, here’s the thing: I was hit by a car a little while ago and while that was definitely not fun, I had no major injuries so after being treated like the rockstar that I am, the doctor said I’m all good now and clear to come home with you.    I may take handsome pictures but people who know me say to others, “you’ve got to meet him in person to get the full Gary Experience™. My foster mom says I’m a “goofy goober” who has “googly eyes” but I think I’m way more than that. I mean, have you SEEN my cool spots? I’ve got long legs that were just made for jumping high, I’ve got really shiny teeth that were made for chompin’ and have these big ears that I will absolutely 100% maybe not always listen to you with. When it comes down to it, I try my best to be a good boy but I’m still learning what all that means. I know how to sit, I walk pretty well on a leash (if I do say so myself), I’m pretty much the best at sleeping in my crate at night, and I love to announce my presence both loudly and often so everyone knows I have arrived.   I have literally never met a stranger and when I meet people I like to stand on my hind legs and do this little dance. You’ve gotta see it! I love other dogs and have quite a few friends. When I’m not too sure about stuff I like to follow the other dogs in my foster home around and take their advice on what is scary and what isn’t. I think I like playing with the younger dogs in my foster home more, those old ones are too boring for me. There’s a cat here too but that thing is weird and I’m not really sure what to do with it. My foster mom says I can be a little reactive when I’m on leash or behind a barrier. I like to think I’m just telling those other dogs how it is but apparently that’s rude so I’ve been working on that. My foster mom gives me treats when I see other dogs and I don’t yell at them so I think I’m getting the hang of it pretty well.    Anyway, if you want to meet me (and I don’t see why you wouldn’t?) please fill out an adoption application at www.acdra.org/adoption-application   If you have any questions, I’m busy doing my thing so you can email my foster mom at khickey502@gmail.com and she can probably help you out. December 14, 2025, 8:27 pm

Story
Location: Knoxville, TN   Meet Oakley!   Oakley is a 4 - year - old neutered male Australian Cattle Dog weighing about 40 pounds .  He is a beautiful red mixed with some blue and has the best ring tail ever! He is up to date on vaccines including canine influenza and is heartworm negative and currently on prevention.  Not a lot is known about his earlier history other than that he was a “farm dog” who likely had few outside life experiences.  Since coming into foster he has really come out of his shell and is a real sweetheart  with tons of potential!  Oakley has a high energy level.  He is very friendly to people although he is prone to jumping up (we are working on this).  H e walks well on and off leash – he doesn’t really know heel  yet  but he does not pull. He  naturally stays close and  has a totally rockstar recall.  He is dog  friendly  but his exuberant nature sometimes makes them afraid of him. He has done well with parallel walks with other dogs. He likes to swim and is not afraid to climb on agility equipment! We have done a bit  a jogging  together and he has been great. He has learned  sit  and has a pretty good  down   but we are still working on this.  He is good in the  house  and his housebreaking is almost there! He is a counter surfer though  and if left alone too long might chew !  But he is good in a crate!  He is food motivated but not as toy motivated. He is a total toy destroyer – if he can’t destroy  it  it ’s just not that fun! He is good around horses and goats  and does not bother them even when off leash .   He is good with cats after a supervised  introduction  but I wouldn’t trust him with chickens.  He does however display some strong herding instincts and when very  excited  will give a quick  playful cattle dog  nip to you.  His biggest problem is going in the car. He loves to get in the car and does not get carsick. However, when the car is  moving  he barks – something else that we are working on .  Oakley had some fly strike on both ears when he came into rescue. The open sores have healed but he has  some hair loss on the back of his ears at the tip  that I believe will be permanent – it is barely  noticeable. He does have some chipped incisors which do not bother him at all  currently  but may require extraction in the future. Oakley loves attention and is looking for his forever home  with his person .  He has so much potential with continued training and interaction. He is fostered in Knoxville, TN . Please reach out to his foster home at  m_trogdon@hotmail.com  with any questions about Oakley or to arrange a meet and greet .  Complete an Application: https://search.app/x6VdVLYHVyXCqR9G7       December 14, 2025, 9:32 pm
