**Casey is a courtesy post and is not located at or affiliated with Paws Crossed Casey, previously referred to as Nana (like the nanny dog in Peter Pan) is a 100lb border collie/Great Pyrenees mix who was recently moved across the country with his family and has become very anxious with his new neighbors living so close by, so he is looking for a forever home. Casey’s anxiety is now heightened by his juvenile companions (a 2.5 year old and 6m old), so he would like a quieter home without children. He’s selective with other dogs and needs slow introductions, but he loves to play with dog friends. He is crate trained, house trained, neutered, and mostly good on leash. He loves watching squirrels. Needs a strong handler who knows what they’re doing, he’s barrier reactive and has some fear aggression. Please contact Danielle dls.whitt@gmail.com with adoption inquiries. October 14, 2025, 2:02 am

Once your questionnaire is pre-approved, you will be able to meet our pets. If you have any questions, please email us at adoptions@pawscrossedny.org for more information. Please understand that we cannot hold any pets. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.November 26, 2025, 12:43 am

If you’re looking for a fun-loving sidekick who will grow up right alongside you, Ranger is ready to start his next great adventure. *Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only. Story
Meet Antonio! Antonio is a 7-year-old Border Collie mix with a heart of gold and a calm, gentle spirit. Medium-sized, neutered, and housebroken, he has been cherished by his family since he was a puppy. Life threw Antonio a curveball in 2023 when a ruptured disc required spine surgery, and more recently, he’s developed some arthritis in his back legs. Because of this, Antonio can only manage short walks and a few stairs at a time—but he still moves around happily and enjoys being by your side. Antonio is a 35 lb. very sweet, low-energy companion who thrives in a peaceful home. He has always been wonderful with children but can get a little nervous around babies. He currently lives with another dog and does well, though he prefers mealtimes to be separate. Antonio would be the perfect match for a senior or anyone looking for a calm, loving friend in an apartment or home without stairs. He doesn’t need long hikes or high activity—just love, comfort, and a family to call his own. If you’re looking for a loyal, easygoing dog who will shower you with quiet devotion, Antonio is ready to meet you.  To adopt Antonio, go to www.peace4paws.org/adoption-application on a laptop or computer. If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG! Story
Be the one who loves MISS SKY forever! This sweet girl is anticipated to be 4 years old on October 4th and weighs approximately 17 pounds as of September 21, 2025. MISS SKY is a good girl and here is what her rescuer writes: "- Sky is shy and calm, with an independent side but also a “velcro” dog who loves to be near her humans. - She will be timid at first and may need some time to adjust to new environments. - She enjoys walks on a leash and bonding with her family. - She enjoys calm affection and gentle interactions and thrives on human company. - She is an easygoing dog, perfect for a relaxed household. - Gets along well with other dogs of different sizes, though she mostly follows them rather than interacting. - Not tested with cats, but likely won’t have issues. - Has lived with a 12-year-old child; not tested with toddlers. - Would do best in a house with a yard, as she can be a little nervous about going outside for potty, although she loves walks on a leash. - She’d do better in a quiet home, away from the city. - Can be an only dog as long as she has company most of the day. - May take a little time to adjust to new people or visitors, but warms up quickly once she feels safe. - Can stay alone for short periods, but prefers company most of the time. - House-trained and crate-trained. - Knows basic leash manners, but not commands. - Barking level: very low; she hardly ever barks. - Not very food-motivated with treats, so may require patience and praise for training. - Does not have food guarding behavior. - Does not feel comfortable being picked up, but enjoys being close to you. - Not a very good traveler for long distances, as she may throw up, but comfortable in the kennel for shorter trips without showing anxiety. She will leave the kennel or car if shown her leash; otherwise, she will stay where she is. - Behaves nicely at the vet and allows staff to handle her without issues. - Stays calm during thunderstorms, though she can be a little alert when she hears sudden noises. - One thing is certain - she will be a devoted companion who follows you everywhere around the house." We think MISS SKY is a beautiful mixed breed Border Collie. *We have more photos and videos to share. Please email if you are interested.* If you're interested in making MISS SKY part of your family, please fill out an application on our website or send us an email with any questions. We can't wait to hear from you! Story
This is BEN! This 23 pounds and ~5 months old as of October. We think he’s a “Borador” (Lab/Border Collie mix). Ben is a typical happy puppy who loves to play, and gets along great with all dogs! We really have nothing more to say about him because he’s such a sweetie. Ben and some other puppies were found under a bridge with their mama (or another adult female dog, we don’t actually know if it was their mom) who were all dumped there. Our founder feeds a dog who lives under the bridge every day and someone must have known this and left these dogs for us to rescue. If you are interested in this great puppy, please complete an application from our site: https://www.miraclesforsatosrescue.org/adoption-foster-application Applications must be complete to be considered. Your application will not get lost ! We are a small but efficient rescue ! ____________________________________________ PLEASE NOTE: This dog is currently in Puerto Rico. Once an adopter is fully approved, transport will be arranged to New York. In addition, if you are applying for this dog or any of our pups, you must be open to dog psychology/behavior (Cesar Millan) and fulfilling the needs of the dog. We strive for our dogs to be adopted into the right home. The best fit for the dog is our priority. We ask that you please make sure if interested in a puppy or high energy breed that you are ready for this time consuming/daily endeavor and have patience as this is a long term commitment (could be 15+ years). Please consider your future lifestyle after COVID. Please make sure you are ready to properly exercise and give a dog all it needs for fulfillment. Your ongoing time and day-to-day commitment is the most important thing in caring for a dog. In addition we cannot guarantee breed of any dog or expected adult size of a puppy. Thank you for understanding.
