Story
Meet Ranger — an 11-month-old, 60-pound Collie mix who’s all about fun, adventure, and sticking by your side. Ranger is a young, energetic pup with a big heart and an even bigger enthusiasm for life. He loves being with his people and is always ready to join in on whatever you’re doing. He’s still learning the ropes and could use some continued training, but he’s super treat motivated and eager to learn — which makes him a perfect student. If you’re looking for a fun-loving sidekick who will grow up right alongside you, Ranger is ready to start his next great adventure. *Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only. Story
Current Location: Korea 🇰🇷 ♡ 🧡 Meet Ma-eum A gentle soul learning to love again Ma-eum spent his early years tied outside on a farm, living in fear. He was abused by a male owner and frightened by children who threw balls at him. Because of that, he is still afraid of men, loud playground sounds, and the sight of bouncing toys. But despite all this, Ma-eum has the gentlest heart. For the past two years, he has been living in a patient and loving foster home. He has made slow, steady progress — on his terms — and is now ready for the next chapter of his life. 🧬 Personality Ma-eum is a quiet, thoughtful boy with a soft energy. He feels safest around gentle women with warm voices, and he truly thrives in calm, peaceful homes. He may keep his distance from men indoors, but sometimes shows more courage when outdoors. He isn’t the kind of dog who will run into your arms — but with time and patience, he’ll follow you anywhere. He enjoys peaceful walks, nosework games, gentle pets, and long naps by your side. He doesn't bark much, and he waits quietly when left alone after a short adjustment. 🏡 At Home ✅ House-trained (prefers peeing on vertical surfaces — his foster can provide wall-to-floor pads) ✅ Good with calm dogs (interested and social but may growl at overly excited dogs) ✅ Neutral to cats (no strong prey drive) ✅ Tolerates children (nervous around fast movements but never aggressive) ✅ Excellent in the car ✅ Loves brushing and gentle touch 🚫 Afraid of balls and squeaky toys — he prefers games with treats instead 💛 Ma-eum is looking for… A family who will let him set the pace. Someone who doesn’t expect instant cuddles but understands how meaningful it is when a shy dog chooses to stay close. Ideally, a female adopter or a quiet household with gentle energy. 📦 Foster home can provide pee pad setup 📍 Adoption includes interview & home check 📩 If Ma-eum’s story touched your heart, we’d love to tell you more. He’s been waiting a long time for someone who sees past the fear — and into his true, beautiful heart

Story
Meet Winter, a resilient Collie mix with a heart as bright as her name. Back in April, we received a call about a group of puppies who weren’t being cared for properly. Among them was Winter. She had already endured more than any puppy should—caught in a home with neglect and drug abuse, she was kicked by one of the owners, leaving her front leg broken and untreated. When we arrived in Tuscaloosa and saw her pain and fear, we knew immediately that she needed us. The very next day, our vet confirmed the break. With proper care, love, and healing, Winter made a full recovery. Today, she’s thriving—happy, energetic, and playful, with all the sweetness you could ask for in a companion. Her beautiful white coat with warm red patches and her soulful eyes make her just as stunning on the outside as she is strong on the inside. Winter is ready for her forever home—a family who will treasure not only her playful energy and loving nature, but also the story of resilience she carries with her. If you’re looking for a dog who embodies both joy and strength, Winter is waiting to meet you.

Story
**Casey is a courtesy post and is not located at or affiliated with Paws Crossed Casey, previously referred to as Nana (like the nanny dog in Peter Pan) is a 100lb border collie/Great Pyrenees mix who was recently moved across the country with his family and has become very anxious with his new neighbors living so close by, so he is looking for a forever home. Casey’s anxiety is now heightened by his juvenile companions (a 2.5 year old and 6m old), so he would like a quieter home without children. He’s selective with other dogs and needs slow introductions, but he loves to play with dog friends. He is crate trained, house trained, neutered, and mostly good on leash. He loves watching squirrels. Needs a strong handler who knows what they’re doing, he’s barrier reactive and has some fear aggression. Please contact Danielle dls.whitt@gmail.com with adoption inquiries. October 14, 2025, 2:02 am

Once your questionnaire is pre-approved, you will be able to meet our pets. If you have any questions, please email us at adoptions@pawscrossedny.org for more information. Please understand that we cannot hold any pets. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.November 26, 2025, 12:43 am
