Story
Daquiri is exacurry what you need in your life! ;-) This beautiful, playful 10-month old, 31-pound Border Collie/Labrador Retriever mix is an active happy girl and a big fan of kisses, cuddles, and caresses! Housebroken and excellent on a leash, Daquiri loves going for walks and being outside. Loud noises and fast movements make this sensitive sweetheart a bit nervous, but she’s been making great strides in learning how to be more chill. Daquiri gets along well with humans and other dogs, particularly if the dogs aren’t too much bigger than she is. Dogs of a similar size, Daquiri absolutely lovvvves. She will eagerly run, romp, jump, and play chase with them foreverrr. Toys are not really her thing, but receiving pets and getting attention from a person she loves is high on Daquiri’s list of priorities. A good sharer, Daquiri has no problem giving up her toys, her bedding, or her blankets. She likes treats, but isn’t excessively food motivated. Very smart, however, Daquei has already mastered the command sit and has the potential to build a robust vocabulary list! Even though Daquiri can be a bit timid, she enjoys plenty of exercise, meeting new people and making new friends. She has a heart of gold and doesn’t have a mean bone in her entire body. Who needs a pińa colada when you can enjoy a daquiri every day!!! C’mon, just go for it! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Penguin (TX) is a male border collie mix rescued in Texas. Our veterinary partner estimates that Penguin is 5 months old at the time of intake in March 2024. Penguin is good with people and other dogs. Penguin was homeless wandering the streets doing his best to survive and suffering. RDR has found him and he is receiving the medical attention he needs to be the perfect addition to any family!  The best medicine we can get him is love and to feel safe, can you provide for Penguin and rewrite the rest of his life? Please apply online to adopt Penguin (TX) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.   RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption.  Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter. Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     Meet Rain, a 15-month-old medium-sized mixed breed sweetheart rescued from Puerto Rico. Rain has been through a lot in her short life, but you’d never know it. She has the tenacity, spirit, and spunk of a happy girl. She is sweet, intelligent, and knows basic commands. She would do best in a home with a fenced-in backyard where she can run, play, and explore. Good with other dogs? Yes. Good with cats? Unknown. Quirks or fears? Afraid of loud sounds and traffic. Needs positive reinforcement, love, and patience. Housetrained? Yes. Crate-trained? Yes, she has been sleeping in a crate at night. Health problems? No known health issues. Activity level? High. She likes to play nip. Plays with toys? Yes, but do not give her cheap toys, toys that can break, or chews that she can break and swallow. Car travel? Very good in the car and no car sickness. And check out her heart-shaped nose and oh-so-adorable RCA dog appearance.     .All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ZAANA was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. She along with her 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 ZAANA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 18 November 2021 and at the time of transport weighed around 30 pounds. The group believe that Zaana could be a Japanese Spitz mix, but we have no way of knowing for sure. ZAANA is the girl for you if you are looking for a gentle, sweet, super affectionate girl. She has settled in well after her long, scary trip from Oman and enjoys when I am in the kennels giving her lots of love and fuss. She will put her paw on my arm or shoulder so that I can scratch the spots she likes and I think it is also her way of wanting to connect. She is a beautiful girl who does have a medium length coat, so grooming is a consideration to be taken into account as if coats are not brushed, they can matt very easily which is not healthy and painful for the dogs. She is an active girl and will need a family that will take her on lots of adventures and give her the lifestyle that she needs and deserves to thrive. ZAANA can be dog selective and so she would be best in a home with no other dogs, so as to not cause any un-needed stress or concerns. Then over time she can get to meet other dogs and see who she likes to have as her friends so she can play and chase and have some doggy-fun. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue   YouTube channel    and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Zaana is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $550. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. Story
Kirby was born on December 25, 2017 and brought to Lee Shores Rescue in North Carolina with his mom and two litter mates as a puppy. He was quickly adopted out to a couple that wasn't ready for a dog. I adopted him when he was 1.5 years old in 2019 when I was in college in Tennessee. In 2022 I moved to New York City for work and Kirby has had a really hard time adjusting to the city life. He has developed some leash aggression and separation anxiety. He's been on and off medications to mitigate his anxiety, but nothing makes enough of a difference to improve his quality of life. After much consideration, I've decided it's time to let my baby go so he can have a life that makes him happy.

I have had Simba for 7 years. He is a sweet boy that sleeps a lot. He does not like loud noises and is not well adjusted to the city. He is terrified of the loud noises of NYC. I got him in Texas and drove him here. He is 7 years old. He is gentle, timid and loves attention. He sheds a decent amount. You will need to be ok with this.

Story
Name: Paprika Breed: Herding mix, primarily Australian Shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog, and Mountain Cur Weight/Size: 38 lbs/Medium Age: 2.5 years old Summary Paprika is truly a remarkable dog, brimming with energy, intelligence, and affection. At 2.5 years old and weighing 38 lbs, she's a unique herding mix, primarily Australian Shepherd, Australian. She's a spirited dog who would flourish in a suburban or rural setting, ideally with a loving family and older children (10+ years old) who can manage her high energy levels. Although she may seem reserved initially, Paprika warms up quickly and forms strong bonds with those she trusts. She's a loving companion who just needs a bit of time to acclimate to new people and surroundings. Once acclimated, she is a fiercely loyal and loving dog. If I rescued Paprika at a different time in my life and had a backyard for her to play in, I would be keeping her. She is an amazing dog who would thrive and be a lot happier with more room to run.
