Story
We got Savannah from the local Humane Society in May 2023. She is slow to warm up to new people. She needs a gentle patient human. Indoors, she is cuddly. But once you step outside, she is very timid of all people (even people she knows) and anything new (ie, car, new place, new people). Savannah is 65 lb. I estimate 2 years old. I think she is at or near her full size, but she still has the puppy-clumsy-paws. She has been a very rewarding addition to our family. Sadly, my other dog took an odd turn, and started biting Savannah. Savannah eventually retaliated. A fight. I think Savannah would do well in home with or without other dogs, but not this one. Their problems escalated gradually. Future owners should be mindful of any such escalation and intervene with training and/or management to prevent it from reaching the bad relationship that I think these two cannot recover from. Adoption fee is $100. I intend to return this to you at a future check-in, negotiable timeline.

Story
Dash is a sweet 1 1/2 year old boy rescued from a shelter. He is a cuddle bug that loves to receive and give affection. He is house trained and knows basic commands like sit, down, and leave. We would love to keep him, however he does not get along well with our other dog. He would do best in a home without other dogs. We are unsure of how he would do with small children. Dash tested heartworm positive and is currently on medication. He will need additional veterinary care for this very treatable condition. He is has a huge heart and is wonderful with humans, he just needs the right pet-free loving home where he can thrive and give LOTS of cuddles. Please contact if interested!

Story
Meet Murphy, our adorable little Border Collie Mix boy puppy who was rescued from a small town shelter where he was under weight and riddled with internal parasites.  His future was very bleak but now Murphy has been treated and is a healthy, happy little guy free of parasites and gaining weight like a puppy should.  Born around November 1st, he is approximately 10 weeks old (as of Jan 5th) and weighs 12 pounds.  He is expected to reach around 40 pounds as an adult.  He is friendly with all humans (toddlers included), dogs and cats that he has been in contact with.  Murphy is curious, playful and very loveable and is quite the talker.  Murphy seems to be the most curious of his siblings.  His foster mom believes he is mixed with many different breeds that are smart and inquisitive.  If you are interested please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.March 26, 2024, 11:20 pm

Story
Hi there, I'm Espresso! I am an approximately 8 month old male Border Collie mix who currently weighs around 30 pounds but still have some growing to do. I'm young and full of energy, always ready to endlessly chase after other foster dogs. I love meeting new people too and will not let myself be ignored. I came in with lots of itchy fleas, but they're history now, and my fur will grow back fluffier than ever! I've been working hard on my house manners and have learned lots in my foster home. I will go in my kennel at night with no problems but I'm still young and eager to learn and grow with you. Adopt me, and I promise to fill your life with joy, laughter, and endless games of fetch! You're welcome to email my foster home with any questions at julianshumate@gmail.com . To meet or adopt me you must first fill out an application here (please copy and paste the link): https://humanesocietyofwilkes.org/adopt/application/julians. To ensure your application was received please email the foster home. You can expect an email response within a week of applying.
