Story
Please contact Sandra (sandralamb@comcast.net) for more information about this pet. Adoption Donation  $4 99     Located: RI Age: 5 yrs old  Weight: 65 lbs    Sophie Pepper is a very active pup who is looking for an active family! She is friendly, affectionate, and a happy girl, who loves her long walks and outdoor time. She's a fun loving girl, super active and affectionate, and she loves to be close to her people and feel part of a family. She would be happiest in a home with older kids for adults only and who's looking for a home with people who love to have fun as much as she does. She's had the benefit of working with a trainer, and three additional training sessions are included in her adoption fee!       If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website   www.fohari.org and email my foster parent for more information:  save4paws@gmail.com  Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Rescuer will provide information received from the veterinarian exam, observations on the temperament of the animal and a best guess of the breed. Friends of Homeless Animals Inc. Darling  Haze has arrived in Rhode Island adoption ready :)  He is the kindest, charming and most thoughtful puppy....everyone who meets him falls in love with him in an instant....and such a dapper fellow with the most handsome markings!  Haze is a happy little mutt puppy with several breeds melded in....a fun genetic mystery who more likely than not should mature to a medium size.  We think he was separated from his mom early, after which  this poor fellow spent a month at a large intake shelter in Houston getting passed over, but he has very much relished  being in a foster home since!  Haze has a high social center and wants very much to make friends with other dogs. Placing him with another dog would be a perk so that he can catch up on some dog socialization, but it certainly is not essential.  He'd do very well with a full family to provide him with plenty of attention, which he loves as a pup with not too independent a nature, but he does know how to settle and for a puppy his energy is quite reasonable.   Haze is doing very well with learning the ropes as an eager and attentive pupil, showing an exceptional amount of natural handler focus, does well on his walks, is coming along well with his housebreaking, and will make a perfect companion to devote your time to through your adventures this summer and beyond! For further information or an application, please contact Lucy at maramuser@gmail.com  Our adoption fee is $450, but unfortunately due to state restrictions we cannot adopt to residents of New Hampshire or Massachusetts.   For further information or an application, please contact Lucy at maramuser@gmail.com  Our adoption fee is $450, but unfortunately due to state restrictions we cannot adopt to residents of New Hampshire or Massachusetts.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see    HERE Age: approx. 11 months (as of 7/3/2026) Weight: approx. 46 lbs. (as of 7/3/20206)   Location: RI    This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Dewey! This handsome dude is ready to fill your life with adventure and love! Dewey has the sweetest face that says I'm all yours. If your looking for an outgoing companion that loves going places, hiking, running, going for walks and meeting new people look no further! And when the adventures are over Dewey is happy to chill and enjoys lap time. We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog. We are still learning how Dewey does with cats and children and Dewey, like all puppies, is still in process of leash learning. Dewey 's Story: Dewey was found and rescued from a pond by his foster. Medical Note:  This dog has tested positive for exposure to ehrlichia and showed symptoms consistent with an active infection.  This dog has been treated with a 28-day course of doxycycline and all symptoms have resolved.  This dog is ready for adoption, though may continue to test positive for exposure to ehrlichia for some time.  There is also a chance that the symptoms could recur and/or additional treatment be needed.  Please see here for more information on ehrlichia, and please check with your vet before you apply to adopt this dog if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see  HERE  for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:  Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor. Story
Hello. Our names are Nadia (F), Kinsey (F), Nathan (M), and Skeeter (F). Our rescuer was told our mom was a Belgian Malinois and dad was a Border Collie. We were born on July 8, 2023. We were turned over to the rescue lady when we were babies. There were eight of us. Not long after arriving, we started to get sick. We four were and are the healthiest. When we were out playing in the yard, she often asked us where the babies went, who was sweet and shy. Who switched them out of your energizer bunnies, then laughed as we ran around like crazy kids? We are brilliant, treat motivated (easy to train), sulk when scolded, crate trained, shy at first but warm up quickly, not house or leash trained (quick learners), like cats, submissive to other dogs, and have never been around children. Our foster mom has commented how wonderful we would be on an agility course.  I want to go hiking, go to the beach, run around on snow deeper than I am tall, curl up with you in front of the fireplace, and watch a movie. I have only heard my foster mom talking about most of this stuff. If you have patience and teach me, I will love doing whatever you do. Please request an application to begin the adoption process at alittlelonger2home@gmail.com.
