Story
🐾WALLACE🖤 Wallace is a loving, handsome, 1.5 year old border Collie/husky mix. He is amazing with other dogs & lives with a bunch of them! He does well with cats as long as a clear expectation is made of how he should behave. 🐱 Wallace is house trained and kennel trained, and he walks/runs well on leash! He would do well with older children as long as they are familiar with the breed & ok with potentially being herded. 🐶 This sweet boy thrives with consistency. He has a hard time adapting to change but has gotten better and will continue to improve with the right amount of training. Wallace can get very excited and just needs someone calm and consistent in these times to help him be the best boy!🖤 Is Wallace the pup you’ve been looking for? If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Alpha is the biggest pup of the litter and the most loyal. He is super smart and affectionate. He loves to play, but is not hyper. He is very focused and chill for such a young border collie mix! We are huge fans of the active breeds, and if you are looking for a smart, easy-to-train pup that will be on the smaller side (maybe 35-40 lbs?), this is your pup! Alpha is looking for a best friend! To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application  HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see  HERE Age: 4 months (as of 04/02/24) Weight: 18.8 lbs (as of 3/14/24) Location: RI Syrup is available for adoption to Massachusetts residents, as well as those in the other New England states.   This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.   Meet this adorable litter of six playful border collie puppies, affectionately dubbed the "Condiment litter." They were discovered dumped at the edge of a busy highway during harsh weather conditions. The individual who found them faced additional challenges as she was already caring for an adult son with medical needs and in the midst of moving but refused to turn a blind eye to the plight of these innocent creatures. Despite the odds stacked against them, these resilient pups clung to hope amidst the chaos of their surroundings. Syrup is the remaining pup from this litter and is ready to find her home! Syrup is doing well in her Rhode Island foster home. She gets along well with the two resident dogs. She is crate trained and does well alone for up to four hours. She is working on housetraining and has been walking well on a leash.  She is very playful and would love another canine sibling, but if not she would be happy with regular playdates.  She is an affectionate pup who would make someone very happy.  Medical Note:   Based upon clinical exam and radiograph study, this dog has been diagnosed with Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD), a developmental, auto-inflammatory disease of the bones that is usually first seen between the ages of 7 weeks and 8 months.  HOD is most often seen in fast-growing young puppies of large and giant breeds, and relapses may occur until about 20 months of age. There is no definitive treatment for this disease process, and treatment of HOD is supportive and symptomatic; Syrup is being treated with pain and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medications, antibiotics, and self-limiting rest. The overall prognosis for HOD is good with full recovery typical. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see  HERE  for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/ **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor. April 28, 2024, 3:09 pm

I ntroducing Shiloh, the eight-month-old bundle of joy with bright blue eyes and a heart of gold. This charming border collie mix is on a quest to find her forever home after an unexpected turn of events in her young life. Adopted as a puppy, Shiloh’s world was turned upside down when her family split, leaving her in search of a new place to call home. Despite the upheaval, Shiloh remains sweet, friendly, and full of infectious enthusiasm. Her wagging tail and boundless energy are sure to bring joy to anyone lucky enough to cross her path. With just the right amount of energy to keep up on adventures, she’s also a pro at snuggling up on the couch for some quality downtime. Shiloh loves to explore, sniffing out new sights and sounds with curiosity and delight. While she’s still mastering leash manners, she adores brisk walks in the neighborhood and playful romps in the park. And when it’s time to unwind, there’s nothing she loves more than curling up in your lap for some well-deserved snuggles. She is a smart girl that is housetrained, and crate trained, but still needs some work on her leash skills and would love to join you on a walk or hike so she can get more practice! Story
I got Cooper on 4/1/2024 hoping to give him a good life. I have a great support system around to help me give Cooper the best life possible, but he still just doesn't seem happy. And I know that if I lost the support (Highly likely) I wouldn't be able to take care of him. He is a high energy dog that would love a big yard to run around in, but isn't able to do that here. Cooper is good with other dogs (cautious around bigger dogs), cats, and smaller pets. He is very well behaved, intelligent, and a good listener. I have everything you will need for Cooper all provided at no cost: Food bowls Water bowls Kennel/cage Toys Treats Dog pillow bed Collar Harness Medical History - Unknown Spay/Neutered - No
