Story
Ellie is 4 years old, 85 lbs Have you ever lost a beloved dog and felt that no other could take their place—until one day, a soulful set of eyes reminded you that your heart still has room to love again? Ellie could be that dog. This gorgeous, resilient girl found herself abandoned and heartbroken at the pound after her people gave up on her through no fault of her own. Despite everything, Ellie hasn’t lost her spark—she’s still hopeful, playful, and overflowing with love to give. Ellie is a smart, spirited pup who’s always ready for an adventure or a cozy night in. She’s working on house, crate, and leash training—she may be a little out of practice, but she’s catching on quickly. She loves water, thrives on attention, and is happiest when she’s by your side. Ellie’s looking for a fresh start with someone who will never give up on her. Could that someone be you? Give this sweet girl the second chance she deserves—you might just find she fills a space in your heart you didn’t know was still empty.

Story
Meet Autumn! Autumn is 27 pounds of pure personality, waiting to be your new best friend! Autumn is approximately 1 year old and is slowly learning the finer things in life, like a warm dog bed and trusting her human friends! Autumn is quite fearful around humans still and is learning to trust day by day. In the short time that she’s lived with her foster, she’s gone from completely shut down to becoming her little shadow (from a distance). At this point in Autumn’s decompression journey, she wants to be in the same room as you and will even jump up on the couch or human bed if you’re quiet, but move too quickly and she’ll go back to her dog bed where she can keep a watchful eye on you! Despite her fears, Autumn has never shown an ounce of aggression and she’s mastered the ability to look deep into your soul and you can just tell that with more time and patience, she is ready to fully trust someone! Autumn is potty trained, loves walks, and adores other pups — loves a good game of chase, a cuddle session, and is even happy to share her toys. She is most at ease when another dog is around and would do best in a home with another dog, or an experienced adopter who realizes she may take a bit more time to open up without a dog friend around! Given that Autumn is still building his trust with people, she needs a patient adopter willing to invest the time and energy in her development, at her pace. Her improvement in her foster home thus far shows just how ready she is to find her forever! In full disclosure, this is not a girl who comes brewery, art festival, youth sports tournament ready. Autumn should be considered a flight risk at first and let outside with a long lead and double leashed when walked. She may be low maintenance in the house, but she should always be watched near exit points and is not yet a dog that will come when called! Autumn needs a family with patience, love, and understanding as she navigates life outside of the shelter. She’s still figuring out the world, so brain games and gentle encouragement will help boost her confidence. If you’re up for a challenge, with a huge reward at the end, Autumn may be your girl! --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html

Story
Grizzly is an amazing farm dog. He LOVES outside, playing fetch. He's extremely affectionate with all people. 2 of our other dogs have turned on him and have attacked him. I am only trying to rehome him because Im afraid for his safety. I only say that he is not good with other dogs because I think he is traumatized by being bullied by the other dogs. Please help me find a loving home for him. He is the best and deserves to live a life not in fear

Story
Meet Shakira! *Please read full bio* Age: 4 months, approx birthdate 7/1/25. Breed: border collie/pit bull? mix. Size: approx 15lbs at this time, we believe she will be about 40ish lbs. Training: working on leash and crate training. She is just a pup and will need continued guidance and training. Good with dogs/cats? Yes to both. Good with men/women/kids? Yes. She can play rough, so older kids are recommended. Personality: friendly, affectionate, and playful. Reason for rescue: owner release, mom was hit by a car and they needed assistance with the pups. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations and preventatives. We feel she would do best with another dog in her new home. More about Shakira! Shakira is a sweet and playful pup with a heart full of love. She came to us at just 3 weeks old after her mom was tragically hit by a car, and she has been showing her brave spirit ever since. Shakira was born with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), a neurological condition that affects balance and coordination. The good news is that CH is not progressive, it will never get worse. In fact, many pups like Shakira improve as they grow, and she’s already made wonderful progress! While she’s still a little wobbly, it doesn’t slow her down one bit. Shakira eats and drinks just fine, and she LOVES to run, play, and zoom around with her friends. She adores attention, giving kisses, and snuggling up to anyone who will love her back. She’s great with both people and other dogs, making her the perfect companion for a family who will embrace her just the way she is. Shakira’s wobble is part of her charm, and she’s looking for someone with a big heart who sees her for the happy, playful, affectionate pup she truly is. Could that be you? Story
Zoey is approximately 10 years old, and shes the very definition of a good girl. Her health is excellent&fully up to date on all vaccinations, and shes been a regular at both the vet and the groomer, always impressing everyone with her calm and loving demeanor. Shes the kind of dog that people remember because she radiates kindness and sweetness. Zoey is incredibly smart and responsive to commands, and shes happiest when shes with her humans, whether that means curling up on the couch for a movie night or quietly resting by your side while you work or read. Shes low-maintenance in terms of exercise&while she enjoys sniffing around the yard or going for a gentle stroll, shes more than content to head back in for a cozy nap. She would thrive in a quiet, adult-only home with no young children or babies. Zoey gets frightened around small kids, which is why, with heavy hearts, we are seeking a new home that better suits her comfort and needs.

Story
MEET MILLIE!STATS: 3 years old, spayed, Black Australian Shepherd MixAFFECTION/ENERGY LEVEL: My little nub tail wiggles at a million miles a minute! I have a good amount of energy, love playing with the other pups my size, and I will immediately roll over for belly rubs when I see a person! My energy level is the perfect balance of chill and independent with a little spunk for other dogs thrown in the mix. When it comes to spending time with my humans, I am super laid back and would be totally content sitting at your feet and getting scratches. I also like to smile with my front teeth when I am super happy (you’ll have to meet me to understand!)WHAT I LOVE: I LOVE belly rubs! If we make eye contact with you, it’s almost guaranteed that I will roll over and beckon you for tummy scratches. I also love to sploot my legs out behind me in the cool grass.KIDS: I don’t have any previous history with kids, but I recently did great at an event with children! As long as they are respectful of my space, I would be a very good girl!OTHER DOGS: I`m dog-friendly and enjoy the company of other dogs! I go to playgroup here at the shelter! I prefer dogs of my own size, though. I am a heeler, after all!CATS: UnknownHER MATCH: If you want to lay around and be lazy together, take the occasional long walk, play outside a little, and come back inside for more lazy cuddles, you just might be my type! I have done wonderfully at events in social situations – I pretty much just laid around and waited for people to come pet me. I am also known around the shelter for being a great walker because I just love spending time with the people here!SPECIAL NOTE: From my adorable nub tail to my toothy smile, I am absolutely precious!Complete an online application and get pre-approved to adopt at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/PetAdoptionSurvey. Story
Buff is around 8 months old and is not a large boy. Maybe weighs around 30 to 35 pounds.  He loves people and other dogs. He is doing well with crate training which should be continued in his new home to finish house training. He is very smart and picking it up quickly. He would do best with another dog in the home and an active family with room for him to run. He is doing well with leash training and loves toys. He also likes to fetch but is not a big fan of car rides. This boy just has a goofy, playful and loving temperament.  Buff is neutered, microchipped and current on shots and preventions. Story
Socks is 9 months old and weighs 40 pounds and we were told he is a Husky/Shepherd mix. He has a wonderful, gentle temperament even though he is a little shy on first meeting. He is great with other dogs and loves to play with them. We are working with him a a leash and he is picking it up pretty quickly and he will need house training in his new home. He is very smart and picks up new things pretty quickly. He can get over a chain link fence so he needs supervision in the yard or a privacy fence. As long as you are with him or he has other dogs to play with, we have no issues here. After time and training and learning his home, this will calm down. He likes water, toys and is good with car rides. He has also been around children with no issues. He should do well with most any active family. Socks is neutered, microchipped and current on shots and preventions. If you are interested in adopting, please submit our application at Richardsonrescue.org.
