Story
Meet Frito! This gentle, curly-coated sweetheart has so much love to give. After arriving at the SNIPSA office from Atascosa Animal Allies, all she needed was a good bath to start opening up to us. Calm and ever so loving, Frito has all of the SNIPSA office fangirling over her cute looks and sweet disposition. Energetic, good-natured, and famously friendly, Border Terriers are known to be great family dogs. Frito’s got the personality—and the signature scruff. Chihuahuas are known to be incredibly loyal and to love attention, so get ready for some one-on-one snuggles with your new favorite gal. While her small size makes it possible for her to adapt to apartment life, it’s also important that Frito finds a home environment where she can get a lot of exercise throughout the day to release some of that extra energy (though, we think 90% of it goes to keeping her tail wagging 24/7). Her secret? She doesn’t actually like Fritos—but she’d be over the moon if you threw her a treat and gave a little scratch behind the ears! This girl is eager and easy to please. Who wouldn’t want to snuggle up with this bug in a rug? Searching for a sweet girl who can be your forever companion? Apply to adopt Frito today!

Story
Introducing the Belcher family of the dog world! Bob, the proud Border Terrier “Dad,” and Linda, the endearing Yorkshire Terrier/Wired-Haired Dachshund mix, hold the family together with love, patience, and a little cute chaos. The two of them share their Wire-haired Terrier puppies, Louise and Tina, each with a personality of their own. Bob, the hardworking dad, a little stressed from running the joint, but the sweetest guy. After his first day at the SNIPSA office, Bob received a much-needed bath to rid him of his hardworking past. When his bath was complete, we saw a whole new side to Bob. His “feel-good” zoomies came out, and he let loose with snuggles and kisses to the SNIPSA staff, quickly winning us all over. In foster care, Bob is quiet, often found snoozing in a cozy corner. He does excellent in his crate and has demonstrated good manners. He may not run a burger restaurant, but he has definitely got a full menu of perks and personality! So order up!

Story
Located in San Antonio Texas Meet Gerti the Border Terrier! She is our newest addition. She was found running the streets with her Dogo Argentino pal. The family that found them spent weeks trying to find their owners with no success. Gerti was not spayed and did not have a microchip. The good new is, she is now spayed, microchipped, and has had all her vaccines! The bad news is, she is heartworm positive. All though we are all very bummed about this she has a fabulous veterinarian that is taking care of her! She has started Gerti on her heartworm treatment protocol and says there is no reason why she can’t find a new home while she is undergoing treatment! Now we just need to find her that perfect place to call home! If you are interested in Gerti let us know.

Story
Harley is a pretty girl with a gentle heart. She may be a little shy when meeting new people, but it's clear she wants to connect. Give her the time and space to build trust, and you'll be rewarded with one of the sweetest companions you could ever hope to meet. Once Harley feels safe, her affectionate side shines. She loves climbing into a trusted person's lap, gazing into their eyes, and soaking up all the love and attention she can get. Harley is at a wonderful stage of life—still playful and ready for adventures, yet happily well beyond the puppy phase. She also does well with other dogs who match her energy. We believe Harley's best days are still ahead, and that the family willing to give her a little patience will be rewarded with a loyal, devoted friend for years to come. To set up a no-obligation meet and greet with Harley, please visit wimberleywagrescue.org and fill out an application. Harley is ready for her second chance—and she just might be the perfect addition to your family.

Story
Bonita is a remarkable dog with a remarkable story to tell. Bonita and her friend, Dylan, were found in downtown San Antonio in December of 2025, vulnerable but remarkably friendly. Just a month after taking them in, Bonita and Dylan’s caretaker passed away unexpectedly, and a family friend stepped in to continue feeding and playing with the dogs. They frequently traveled across the city to visit Bonita and Dylan, who were then living together in a backyard, before taking them to SNIPSA for their respective surgeries and vaccinations. Their temporary caretakers had animals of their own already, and every boarding facility and shelter they checked was already at capacity. Desperately wanting these affectionate pups to get the second chance they deserved in a place they knew would be safe, they turned to SNIPSA. Now an official member of our adoption program, Bonita—lovingly called Bonnie—has returned to SNIPSA, this time to join our rescue program to find her forever home! In foster care, Bonita is described as a happy-go-lucky girl, playful, and an absolute office favorite. In fact, her caretakers noted that she shares the biggest tail wags whenever she greets new people. To add to her long list of green flags, Bonita sports the following traits: Happy-go-lucky and playful personality. Friendly with other dogs. Master at posing for portraits. Great on walks. Well-behaved in her crate. Generates the biggest tail wags for new friends. This unexpected tale of a sweet pup won over our hearts in the blink of an eye––and her personality keeps us falling deeper. After going through so much instability, we’re confident that this fido is ready to settle down in her forever home. So, what are you waiting for? Your perfect dog is with Bonita; all that’s left to do is complete her adoption application!

Story
Hi there! I’m Nellie! If you’re looking for a tiny dog with a HUGE personality, I’d like to introduce myself! I’m funny, bouncy, zoomy, and always ready for my next adventure. Cairn Terriers are known for being curious, clever, and spirited little dogs, and I’m here to prove that big personality absolutely can come in a small package! I love everyone I meet and firmly believe that every human is just a potential best friend I haven’t hugged yet. Speaking of hugs… I’m a BIG fan! And if you give me the choice between a toy and your lap, well… congratulations, you’ve just become my furniture. I’ll happily sit for treats (I’m smart like that!), but my real specialty is bringing smiles, wiggles, and a whole lot of bubbly Cairn Terrier charm wherever I go. So, what are you waiting for? Apply to adopt Nellie today!
