Story
Meet Buddy & Obi — Two Sweet Brothers Looking for Their Forever Home Buddy (Brown and White) and Obi (Black and White) are a pair of 4-year-old littermates whose lives turned upside down last June when they were left at the shelter by owners who said they no longer had time for them. But these boys never stopped loving, trusting, or trying — and now they’re ready for the loving home they’ve always deserved. Both Buddy and Obi are vision-impaired, but don’t let that fool you — they get around wonderfully and have adapted with resilience, courage, and a whole lot of heart. Obi’s Story When Obi arrived at the shelter, he was heartbreakingly underweight. His former owners reported he’d been losing weight for six months — without ever receiving medical care. Boston Buddies immediately stepped in, got him to a veterinary internist, and ran bloodwork and an ultrasound. Obi was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD) and Protein-Losing Enteropathy (PLE). The vet recommended starting with a prescription hydrolyzed diet — and it worked like magic. Obi has thrived. He’s gained weight – he now weighs 29 lbs. which is MORE than Buddy who weighs in at 27 lbs.- , filled out beautifully, and is finally healthy and comfortable. He will need to remain on this special diet, but it’s truly been life-changing for him. Both boys eat the same diet to keep things simple (and to prevent Obi from sneaking Buddy’s food — trust us, he would!). Obi now has energy, softness to his body, and no more hip bones sticking out. His foster family has done wonders, and he’s ready for the next chapter. Their Personalities These boys are truly the sweetest. They adore people — especially kids — and warm up quickly. They love to wrestle, play, snuggle, and explore. Despite their vision challenges, they adjust to new spaces surprisingly well. They’re potty trained, use a doggy door independently, and are very food-motivated (Obi might just be the fastest eater on planet Earth). Their vision impairment does mean they can be startled by loud noises like trash trucks, leaf blowers, or loud cars. When scared, they may freeze or sit down, especially Buddy. Walks are still one of their favorite activities — they just need a patient, understanding human to reassure them. A home without stairs is best, as they can manage a few with guidance but not independently. When meeting new people, they can get excited and a bit jumpy — not out of rudeness, but because they’re trying to “feel out” who’s there when they can’t fully see. A Little About Each Boy Obi • goofy, carefree, and slightly clumsy • loves being outside • professional grass roller • navigates the world beautifully with his nose • vision is more impaired than Buddy’s • bumps into things sometimes — but just shakes it off and keeps going Think of Obi as the goofy, lovable teen brother who always keeps things light. Buddy • loves toys and bones • insists on peeing on every tree during walks • your punctual “meal time” reminder • more cautious and thoughtful • sometimes has anxiety-related accidents, but they’re infrequent and come in phases Buddy is the charming, slightly grumpy “old man” of the duo — even though he’s only 4. Most important of all: Buddy and Obi are deeply bonded. They find comfort, confidence, and joy in each other, so they must be adopted together. They are ready for a calm, loving home that understands their needs, celebrates their quirks, and cherishes them as they deserve. Location: Southern California Adoption Fee: The $300 fee for this pair has already been sponsored by a fan of Buddy and Obi's!  Ready to meet them? Story
Meet Gus – A Sweet Senior Looking for a Loving Home Formerly known as Shadow, Gus may look familiar — and that’s because he’s already touched hearts before! This charming 12-year-old Boston Terrier first came to Boston Buddies from the OC shelter about a year ago and was quickly adopted by a loving older couple. He enjoyed a happy life filled with love and companionship. Sadly, Gus’s world changed when his beloved dad passed away and his mom’s health no longer allowed her to care for him. Now, Gus is looking for a second chance at forever — a new family who has room in their heart for a gentle, older gentleman. Gus is the definition of easygoing. He loves lounging around the house and is perfectly content with a peaceful day followed by a leisurely evening walk. He’s great on a leash (unless a cheeky squirrel crosses his path!), sleeps quietly through the night in his crate, and is fully house-trained — he even uses a doggie door like a pro. Gus gets along well with other dogs and enjoys meeting new friends on his walks. He hasn’t met any cats, but he’s very interested in the birds and squirrels in his foster home's yard — so a home without small, fast-moving critters might be best! He’s a big fan of mealtime — especially important now that he's on a special hepatic diet to support his liver health. He also has a bit of seasonal itchiness that’s easily managed with a Cytopoint shot every few months. Simply put, Gus is a sweet soul who just wants a comfy spot to nap, a kind human (or two) to love, and maybe a few tasty treats along the way. Are you the one to give Gus the golden years he deserves? Fill out an application at www.bostonbuddies.org Gus is currently being fostered in Southern California Adoption Fee: $250   View more photos on our facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/BostonBuddiesInc December 15, 2025, 11:03 pm

Please call the shelter directly if you are interested in this companion animal. The Email address is not monitored daily. 949-492-1617.I LOVE TO: Lounge on the couch, go for long walks, and be around people.I HAVE: A great smile and a sweet & loving personality. I GET ALONG WELL WITH: Adults and older children. I WOULD RATHER NOT: Visit the dog park, be an outside dog, or be left outside unattended, because of my small stature. I NEED: Obedience training and a loving family to call my own!I AM: Baby! At 5 years young, this beagle/pug blend is a soft little sunrise in dog form. She adores gentle pets, leans in for affection, and lights up the moment treats appear - her tail does a whole happy drum solo. Sweet, calm, and ready to love, Baby is hoping for a home where her kind heart can shine.December 9, 2025, 7:17 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Tyson is a very handsome small 6 year old, 23lb male frenchie who is looking for an EXPERIENCED and responsible owner that does not have a lot of human traffic in their life. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Tyson did not have a lot of boundaries or structure in his previous home, so he learned to guard his food. Through lots of diligent work and training, his food aggression is currently easily manageable by someone who is willing and able to earn his trust and build a relationship and bond with him. He is not an overly affectionate boy, but he does enjoy attention, walks, and body or belly scratches by his favorite person. Tyson is crate trained and walks well on leash. Please do not apply if you do not have adequate experience in handling dogs, or if you have children in the home. Also, you should be very well versed in breed related health issues to be considered for Tyson. Applications can be submitted at heertorescue.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 18, 2025, 11:17 pm

Story
Scout is a loving, gentle companion who just wants to be near her person. She’s happiest when she can relax beside you, nap in a sunny spot, or get cozy for cuddles. A few years ago, Scout had a spinal injury that left her with limited bladder control, but she’s learned to adapt beautifully. With a consistent routine and someone who can let her out regularly, she does her best to go outside. Her occasional accidents are more about needing supervision and a calm, attentive home than a lack of awareness. She can walk and even run in short bursts but doesn’t need long walks and she’s more of a homebody who enjoys a peaceful environment. Scout would thrive in a slower-paced household where she can be part of daily life instead of spending too much time in a kennel. She does best in homes without young kids, simply because too much activity makes her nervous. She’s full of love and personality — she just needs someone patient who sees past her challenges and recognizes how special she is.
