Get out of the way and make room for Graham. The most entertaining, 10-pound, vintage American Gentleman you might have the opportunity to meet. A few weeks ago, social media was all a buzz. Everyone was advocating to save the senior Boston Terrier that was at the Downey Shelter. Our Rescue Director rushed to LA to pull the frail old guy and get him vetted and into a foster home. Well… to all of our amazement – the skinny, 12-year-old BT, the shelter named Graham is full of life, curiosity and agility. While it is obvious, he needs to gain a few pounds, this guy eats like a champ and has more energy than dogs half his age. Constantly on the go and hard at work making sure things are as they should be. Graham is the self-appointed “Supervisor” of everything his foster mom does. If she opens a closet door, he is going in to make sure everything is organized to his liking. If you open a cabinet, he is going to scale the shelves to make sure they are up to code. Do you need help with household chore? This guy is right there checking out the dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. He believes in efficiency and getting things done. His Foster Dad is trying to teach this old dog new tricks. Graham will use the doggie door to go outside but sometimes he will come back inside and potty. Very much a work in progress. Leash walking seems totally foreign to him. He will just “refuse” to walk. Not really a big deal because he is so small, there is no problem just carrying him around. In fact, he would love if you just carried him around all day long. He LOVES people and is great with other dogs. He lives with several other dogs and gets along with all of them. When in the car he prefers to ride in your lap. Many times, when we bring senior dogs into rescue they just stay with their initial foster because we know their time is limited. That truly is not the case with Graham. He is ready to take on the world. Graham is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and fecal and heartworm tested (both negative). We have been putting a nonprescription eye lube into his eyes a couple times a day just to keep him comfortable. His vision might not be 100% but he sees well enough to navigate wherever he might want to go. BEAU— FOSTER NEEDED ASAP PLEASE!! We’ve got a super special little guy we can’t wait for you to meet—say hello to BEAU; he’s ready and waiting to sweep you right off your feet!! Our boy Beau came to us from the Downey Shelter and is looking for a couch to curl up on, whether it’s for a short time or a lifetime, he needs it ASAP to recover, decompress, and get all the love after a little surgery. Unfortunately, a biopsy done on the left side of Beau’s penis revealed he has squamous cell carcinoma so he is in urgent need of a super kind FOSTER family to give him all the TLC and help him kick some carcinoma tail. Ideally, his foster home will be in or around the San Diego area to get our brave buddy Beau to and from his appointments at VHS. At about 7 years old, Beau is resilient, curious, exceptionally handsome and as charming as they come! Our volunteer said he enjoyed a solid neck rub and was as sweet as can be (take one look in his eyes and it’s easy to see)! We don’t know much more about Beau, but cannot wait to learn about him and to see his extraordinary personality, quirks, and behaviors emerge as he settles in with his FOSTER family!Beau’s a fierce little fighter who deserves nothing but scratches, snuggles, treats, and TLC. Bailey gets very attached to his person. He would do well with condo living becuase he is very housetrained. He does know the doggy door. Will play with "like kind" dogs (ie: frenchies, boston terriers) but doesn't particularly like to play with the chihuahuas. He is quiet and not a barker nor a snorer. We would love to see him go to a single person or adult couple that works from home; although he is very well behaved when home alone and not destructive. Bailey has very pretty coloring and is not your typical boston coloring of basic black and white. This little cutie is Khloe! She’s a petite 32lbs and is estimated to be 6 years old. At the shelter, she was polite with other dogs and friendly with new volunteer friends. Now in a foster home, she’s showing us her personality and learning crate, leash and house training. She’s been such a delight in her foster home! Her foster has nothing but nice things to say about her including that she’s very respectful when meeting new dogs and people. Khloe can be affectionate but is not needy or demanding. Most of you reading this bio are probably too young to remember the song by Abba, "Take A Chance On Me". But at my house my Foster Mom sings it to me everyday, multiple times a day: It goes like this: If you change your mind, I'm the first in line Honey, I'm still free Take a chance on me If you need me, let me know, gonna be around If you've got no place to go, if you're feeling down If you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown Honey, I'm still free Take a chance on me Gonna do my very best and it ain't no lie If you put me to the test, if you let me try Take a chance on me (That's all I ask of you, honey) Take a chance on me There are additional verses, but you get the idea. You see my Foster Mom says it is the perfect song for me. My name is Chance and I am a 6 year old Frenchton. That means I am part Boston Terrier and part French Bulldog. A while back I suffered a back injury and my previous family took me to the vet to be euthanized. However, someone was looking out for me and luckily I ended up being saved by Boston Buddies. They are working hard to help me gain the strength needed to hopefully walk again. But until that time I get around great in my cart. I go to physical therapy for laser treatments and water treadmill sessions – and lots of snuggles and hugs from the great people there (Hi Maja!). In my foster home I do daily exercises and I am making great progress. There is no way to know when or if I will walk again but Boston Buddies is committed to do everything possible to give me the best shot at success. That commitment will extend to paying for continuing laser treatments and water treadmill sessions post adoption! Not gonna lie, I am a little more work than your average dog. But who wants to settle for average?? I am one special guy. All your hard work, patience and understanding will be paid back triple fold with the love and devotion I will give you in return. Currently I live with several other Boston Terriers, a couple of French Bulldogs and even a Chihuahua and we all get along great. When they go for walks, I roll right along with them. My foster parents keep me on a schedule and that really streamlines the process of expressing my bladder and bowels, and that way no one has to worry about any accidents. At night I sleep in my crate right beside my Foster Dad. I enjoy car rides and love a good chew toy. Would you be willing to take a chance on me??
