Story
Meet Zyon — the 20-lb soul who’s done pretending life with chaos fits him. At 7 years old, this Boston Terrier just wants calm. He spent years trying to keep it together in a busy home, but the noise and unpredictability of little kids were too much. Now he’s safe, healing, and figuring out what it means to actually relax. needs the right human. Not a fixer. Not a savior. A steady adult who gets it. Zyon is a sensitive, low-key adult who bonds deeply to his person and wants nothing more than to feel safe. Once he trusts you, he’s an absolute velcro dog. Snuggly, affectionate, loyal, and happiest curled up next to you on the couch or quietly following you from room to room. Here’s the part that matters. Zyon does want other dogs in his home. He does want kids. He does do well with being grabbed, lifted, or handled forcefully. He can walk past other dogs and be out in the world, but his home needs to be calm, predictable, and adult-only. When he gets overwhelmed or frightened, he goes straight into fight-or-flight. That’s not a training failure. That’s a dog who has learned the world isn’t always safe. Zyon is fully house trained, walks well on leash, rides great in the car, and is genuinely low energy. He’s not playful, toy-driven, or curious in a typical “dog” way. He looks to people for comfort, not stimulation. He doesn’t need miles of exercise. He needs , , and . right home for Zyon: • Calm, patient adults only • No other pets • Someone home most of the day (WFH or retired preferred) • Experienced dog owner who understands fear-based behavior • Willing to move slowly and respect boundaries • Comfortable managing a dog who may never enjoy being picked up We know this sounds like a lot to ask. It is. And it’s intentional. We are committed to placing dogs in , not just a home. Zyon isn’t broken. He’s not “bad.” He’s a dog who needs someone willing to meet him where he is and give him time to feel safe in his own skin. If you believe trust is earned, not forced, and that progress doesn’t come with a timeline, Zyon might be your dog. This is a commitment. But for the right person, it’s a deeply rewarding one.   This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)   To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   PLEASE READ:     •    If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.     •    All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.     •    Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.   Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.   Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.   For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.   ##2564007##

Story
I met Luna 2 and a half years ago. A couple I knew had her. The couple were in need of a place for them and their dog to go for a short period of time. I ended up asking them to leave due to normal couple issues but I kept the dogs for them till they found a place where they could have them. Long story short another friend took the male dog as it was to much for me to have both. Almost 2 years later and I still have Luna. I love this dog so much but I don't have the time or funds to give her what she deserves. All she wants is love and attention. She wears diapers as she drops urine regularly and if she barks more sprays out. Luna loves stuffed animals to suckle on at night and she loves food. She does get fearful and cowers if she has an accident in her and thinks she's in trouble, I do feel she was abused at one point. Luna just needs the vet care and unconditional love every animal deserves. She is loyal and loving and anyone who adopts her will be lucky to have a dog like her.

Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption.
