Story
Romeo, oh Romeo… where the heck is your home...-eo?This 2-year-old Boston Terrier mix has been with us for over a month, and frankly, he’s starting to wonder if everyone else missed the memo: he’s the leading man. 21 pounds of sass, charm, and tennis-ball obsession, Romeo is ready for his forever home—but only if you understand that he is the main character here.Romeo lives for fetch. He’d make chasing tennis balls a full-time career if someone would just pay him in snacks (and no, he does not want to discuss his “fluffy” phase—he’s working on it, okay?). With his inner circle, he’s a total sweetheart: goofy, loyal, and the kind of cuddle buddy you’ll never want to let go of. But strangers? Hard pass. Romeo needs some time and patience to warm up to new people, and he’s got a bit of a dramatic streak when he’s nervous. Think less Romeo and Juliet, more Romeo and Please Give Me Space Until I`m Comfortable. He`s not into sharing the spotlight—no other dogs, no cats, no thank you. Romeo is a one-man show, and he likes it that way. He’s looking for an adult-only home that understands his boundaries, supports his cardio routine (read: infinite games of fetch), and isn’t afraid of a little emotional depth. So, if you’re into complicated leading men with soft centers, impeccable comedic timing, and a tendency to drop tennis balls in your lap at 6 a.m.—come meet Romeo. He’s ready to start his next act, and he’s saving the best role for you.Our shelter is open Tuesday-Sunday from 12-4 (closed Mondays). If you are interested in this pet, please review our adoption process at www.lowellhumanesociety.org/adoption/#process so you`re prepared to adopt & stop by the shelter with the required information to take home this pet.

Story
Meet Honey – Your Regal, Ball-Loving, Blanket-Burrowing Queen! 👑🐾 Honey isn’t just a dog—she’s a full-on personality. This fabulous girl is looking for a home with someone who gets her, preferably an experienced handler who appreciates a dog with a bit of sass and a lot of opinions. She’s obsessed with toys, especially balls, and she takes her playtime very seriously—like, “I might defend this toy with my life” seriously. Because of her strong personality and resource-guarding tendencies, she’s best suited for an adult-only home where people respect her boundaries (translation: don’t try to take her toy unless you have a trade deal worthy of a diplomat). Honey is an adventure-loving, nosy little explorer who will absolutely climb on whatever she can to satisfy her curiosity. She enjoys walks—unless it’s snowing or raining, in which case, no thank you. She’s mostly house-trained as long as you stay on schedule. And while she got along with her foster’s dog and two cats, she did have a little too much fun chasing the cats (not out of aggression, just… enthusiasm). Her quirks aside, Honey is a total lovebug once she trusts you. She lives for snuggles and will happily burrow under the blankets with you at night. But if you’re not into that? No problem—she’ll graciously settle into her own bed. Oh, and one of her absolute favorite activities? Rolling down hills. Yes, really. Grass, rugs, the road—she’s rolling. If you’re looking for a dog with personality, a little sass, and a whole lot of love, Honey might just be your perfect match. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Meet Charlie – 36 pounds of snuggly chaos wrapped in a Beagle/Pug mystery blend, aged 3 years and powered by pure zest for life. Charlie is a snuggle monster, a burrow king, and your future workout partner (just try keeping up when he gets the zoomies). He’s got two moods: full-throttle playtime where he bounces, nips, and leaps like a caffeinated kangaroo, and snuggle mode, where he melts into you like a fuzzy, face-loving marshmallow. He LOVES his human—like, can-I-put-my-nose-right-on-your-nose levels of love. He’s got a serious craving for affection and scratches, and when the cuddles are over, he’s happy to tunnel under the covers like a sleepy mole preparing for winter. And here’s the plot twist: Charlie is super treat-motivated—a fact that’s turning him into a very trainable little legend. With treats in hand, he’s shown major progress walking near other dogs and people. Public outings used to be a bit of a rodeo, but now? With the right snacks, he’s practically a model citizen. He’s met strangers and been his charming, friendly self. So yes, this boy has potential and snacks are the key to unlocking it. 💩 House trained? Absolutely. 🛏️ Crate trained? Yup. 🐶 Great with other dogs? Not even a little bit. He’s not here to make canine friends, okay? He wants to be your one and only fur-child and will bark, lunge, and generally make his “no thanks” very clear when other pups are around. Now, a few quirky notes on Charlie’s resume: 👉 He’s had a moment or two of questionable decision-making, including a bold leap at the Foster’s neighbor (mostly jacket-focused) and a few overly enthusiastic nips during playtime with the Foster’s boyfriend. Nothing too dramatic, but it does mean Charlie would do best in a home with someone experienced, patient, and able to set clear boundaries (and maybe skip crowded hallways). Charlie’s got big love and big personality—he just needs a human who can work with him on his impulse control. With some structure, love, snacks (seriously, snacks), and solo-dog status, he’s going to be your ride-or-die blanket burrower, hike buddy, and personal bodyguard (whether or not you asked for one). Adopt Charlie—because under that slightly spicy exterior is a total marshmallow just waiting to snuggle into your heart… and your bed. If you are interested in finding out more about Charlie, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Charlie is being fostered in Boston, MA.
