Story
Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 5-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. Update from foster Mom: With his people he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, house trained, muzzle trained, e-collar trained. He LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that when he is off leash, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. So why has this amazing already trained pup been with us so long? He doesn't do too well with strangers. We've gotten people interested, but seemingly they seem to ignore his "wary of new people" bit in his bio, and those who have applied want a friendly dog who is ok with meeting everyone. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introvert? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. he just needs someone who understand he isn't too fond of people until he feels safe with them. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. NO trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parents! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! -- If you are interested in finding out more about Blitz, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: http://bit.ly/2JnZqK5 Blitz is being fostered in Worcester. The adoption fee is $250. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
* Can be adopted to the Houston TX area only * Asha was rescued in January 2022. Her previous owners other dog attacked her and tore open the side of her face. Exposing her jaw and tooth. The owner wasn’t sure when it happened exactly but best guess, she had been living in pain for a couple of months prior to being brought into the rescue. Asha was brought to an emergency veterinarian in Houston. She had a severe infection and abscess. She has undergone a dental procedure to remove 2 teeth and 4 procedures to get her wound to heal. She was also HW + and is in the process of treatment. Due to her continuing care, she is only available for adoption in TX. Asha is a 2 year old boxer/shepherd mix. Asha is described as a very sweet and gentle, but skittish. She isn’t interested in chew toys or playing but she goes crazy for treats and loves cuddles. She gets along with her foster siblings, although she's kind of standoffish. Asha is definitely more a people dog than a dog's dog if that makes sense. She follows her foster mom around literally everywhere, even trying to nudge her way in to the bathroom! Asha doesn't mind her kennel and will sometimes go in there on her own when she wants some separation from the other dogs. Asha has been wonderful with her fosters kids, “especially my daughter who is calmer and gives more love than my son.” She is a bit intimidated by the fosters husband but never shows any sort of aggression, only avoidance. She's smart and understands things like "all done" (for medicine/ treat time), "out" (potty time), "get" (as in get out of my kitchen 😆), "here" (not that she's usually far away!). We're working on "sit" and "stay" now. Asha is currently in a loving foster home in TX and is currently available for TX adoption only. If you or someone you know is interested in fostering or adopting, please fill out an application For fostering: https://form.jotform.com/201836990343156 For adopting: https://form.jotform.com/201828253780154 Please submit an application instead of sending an inquiry even if you just have questions. Sending an inquiry will slow down the process, limit the ways that we can contact you and may send our reply email to your spam folder. Another application could be processed instead of yours for this dog. All of our available adoptable dogs are on Facebook, Petfinder, Adopt a Pet and our website. If a dog is no longer listed it means they have an adoption pending. We are a nonprofit organization - all adoption fees go towards the rescue and veterinary care of these dogs in order to get them ready for their forever homes. We are a shelterless rescue. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes to help them de-stress and get used to a home environment while they await adoption, giving us the opportunity to understand their personalities and needs. Ready to Adopt? The next step is to fill out our Adoption Application. A volunteer will contact you to review your application and see if your family might be the right match.
