I adopted Bishop 6 years ago from a pound in West Virginia. I've spent countless hours loving and training him. Bishop is coming up on 11 years old so generally he's on the more mellow side. He's very loving with his people and will spend all day next to you on the couch or sunbathing. He no longer needs a ton of exercise since he's older. just a walk and a short play will suit him wonderfully. Over the years Bishop has grown into a lovely companion, unfortunately he does have a checkered past so he struggles with moderate resource guarding. Just make sure he's fed on the opposite side of the room from any other pets. He has a few select doggy friends but when introduced to new people and dogs things have to move pretty slowly. He has lived with other dogs in the past. I think Bishop would do well in a calm house with zero or one other dog, no kids, and either a large yard with no nearby neighbors or some open, calm space. Bishop is loyal, loving, protective, and a little crazy.

Meet Lacy, our 2.5-year-old 50 lb rescue! She is an incredibly loving, loyal, and calm companion who just wants to be by your side. She loves snuggling up on the couch or in bed. Lacy is wonderfully behaved at home, fantastic on walks (non-reactive to people or other dogs), and has a blast playing at doggy daycare! As much as we adore her, we are expecting a baby and must make the heartbreaking decision to rehome her. Lacy bonds strongly and exhibits guarding behavior around me, especially when visitors arrive. She did have a bite incident in May 2025. Since then, we've invested in extensive training and tried medication, resulting in zero incidents since! Because she still shows protective tendencies, we and our trainer agree it isn't safe to keep her with a newborn. Lacy will absolutely thrive in a calm home without small children or frequent visitors, where she can be your snuggly best friend.

I’m looking for a very specific home for my dog, Titan—a 4-year-old boxer/bullmastiff mix (about 65 lbs). Titan is incredibly loyal, affectionate, and forms strong bonds with his person. Once he trusts you, he is calm, loving, and wants to stay close. He does best in a structured environment with clear boundaries and consistency. He is not a dog for everyone. Titan is wary of strangers and needs slow, controlled introductions to new people. He is most comfortable in a low-traffic home without frequent visitors. There was a past incident where he bit a family member’s hand during a high-stress situation when multiple people were around him and he was being handled near his face. The injury required medical attention but was not severe, and there has not been a pattern of repeated incidents. With proper structure and awareness of his boundaries, he has been manageable and stable. Titan would do best in:
• An adult-only home (no children)
• A low-traffic environment
• Someone experience

MEET MARIGOLD!My friends describe me as: Enthusiastic, cuddly, playfulMarigold is a delightful young dog who weighs only around 50lbs, named for her beautiful golden eyes. She is potty trained, walks fantastic on leash (though she can get a bit excited at times), and is friendly with all she meets. This sweet lady likely had a litter or two of puppies before making her way north via our transport program. Once here, she tested positive for heartworm disease. This is a very common disease in dogs transported from the south, that luckily is not contagious to other animals or people. It is spread via mosquito bite, which is why it is quite common in warmer climates. Luckily, this disease is treatable and she is in recovery! Now that she has received treatment, it will be important that her new family restricts her exercise/activity through the month of August. If you are able to open up your home to give a special girl a new lease on life, please come meet her!Marigold is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team.For more information on Marigold or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.
