Story
I’m looking for a very specific home for my dog, Titan—a 4-year-old boxer/bullmastiff mix (about 65 lbs). Titan is incredibly loyal, affectionate, and forms strong bonds with his person. Once he trusts you, he is calm, loving, and wants to stay close. He does best in a structured environment with clear boundaries and consistency. He is not a dog for everyone. Titan is wary of strangers and needs slow, controlled introductions to new people. He is most comfortable in a low-traffic home without frequent visitors. There was a past incident where he bit a family member’s hand during a high-stress situation when multiple people were around him and he was being handled near his face. The injury required medical attention but was not severe, and there has not been a pattern of repeated incidents. With proper structure and awareness of his boundaries, he has been manageable and stable. Titan would do best in:
• An adult-only home (no children)
• A low-traffic environment
• Someone experience

Story
Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 7-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. Update from foster Mom: With his people, he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, and house-trained. He LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has an amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that when he is off leash, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. So why has this amazing already trained pup been with us so long? He doesn't do too well with strangers. We've gotten people interested, but seemingly they seem to ignore his "wary of new people" bit in his bio, and those who have applied want a friendly dog who is ok with meeting everyone. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introvert? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. He just needs someone who understands he isn't too fond of people until he feels safe with them. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. No trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parents! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! If you are interested in finding out more about Blitz, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO-A-67 Blitz is being fostered in Grafton. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Nellie is a 7-9-month-old pup who was an owner surrender. Her mission in life is to be by her people's side. Nellie is an absolute love and has the cutest, floppiest ears! She has beautiful brindle coloring and is not a big shedder. She loves other dogs and is currently living in a foster home with three other dogs, with whom she responds well to redirection. She is quickly acclimating to farm life at her foster home. She is great around the horses and respectful of the chickens. She weighs 55 lbs and is long and lean. She is a reserved girl, cautious about meeting new people, but is quickly won over with treats. She is very food motivated and does not miss a meal. She has been around young children and did great. She is almost fully house-trained and is perfect in the car. She loves her toys and demonstrates no resource guarding. She doesn't love her crate time but is learning to accept it. She has excellent recall and spends her time outside off-leash doing farm chores or hiking with her foster mom. Nellie is spayed, UTD on her vaccines, and microchipped. Nellie is a low-to-moderate-energy-level girl who is happy to lie next to you but is ready to get up for a walk or to play when you are. She bonds quickly to people and will imprint on your home. She is a young dog, so she will need continued work on basic obedience; she is working on not jumping from excitement when her foster parents get home. Nellie is truly an easygoing soul who is just naturally well-behaved. Her foster mom says she will be someone's once-in-a-lifetime dog. The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an adoption application here: medfieldshelter.com/adopt If a dog is listed on our website, it is still available for adoption; however, there may be applications ahead of yours. We typically receive many applications for every dog we post. All adoption meetings are by appointment. Our dog adoption fee is $450 for dogs aged seven months to seven years old, and $250 for dogs aged eight years and older. Every dog we place receives age-appropriate vaccines, is treated for worms, ticks, and fleas, tested for heartworm, microchipped, and spayed or neutered before adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash. Please fill out the adoption application if you would like to be considered for a dog in our care. With few exceptions, dogs are happiest and well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families willing to commit to both.
