Story
Meet Daddy Long Legs! This 5-year old incredibly docile soul came to us from an owner who is trying to make sure he lands in a perfect quiet spot where he can be his best self. Daddy ‘O was originally part of a massive hoarding case two years ago that spanned MA – NH where 80 boxers were seized and adopted out among several organizations. These boxers had not been socialized or seen the light of day and were very fearful of the outside world. His last owner did everything he could for Daddy! But he lives in a busy urban area and realized that this environment was holding him back from truly relaxing. He made the selfless decision to surrender him to our rescue out of love, and we are thrilled to report he is thriving in a quiet foster home away from the hustle and bustle of city living.  With his looooong skinny legs, Daddy lives up to his name. He is an itty-bitty boxer at only 35 lbs, with the best nubbin tail around! His inky coat with brindle markings is gorgeous. And that underbite? Be still my heart! Like his namesake, everything about Daddy is harmless and innocent, without a single ounce of venom in his personality. He is a homebody and would prefer a predictable and consistent routine in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Another doggie sibling (or more!) is a must, as DLL loves dogs and is learning so much about how to be a dog from his foster siblings. He bounds around the yard like a gazelle, experiencing a newfound joy in being outside that he couldn’t understand for most of his life. Daddy is a pure delight and will shower you with love, smiles, and all that is good in the world. Daddy Long Leg’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family who will patiently love him for all of his days, realizing he will never be a brewery dog or adventure companion. 2. A family who lives in a quiet area, is committed to a consistent routine, and can keep Daddy’s world small for the foreseeable future. 3. A family who has a resident dog or dogs to show this little man the ropes and can teach him what is means to be a dog! He is eager to learn and enjoy all that life has to offer!June 24, 2026, 5:06 pm

Story
Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 7-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. Update from foster Mom: With his people, he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, and house-trained. He LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has an amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that when he is off leash, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. So why has this amazing already trained pup been with us so long? He doesn't do too well with strangers. We've gotten people interested, but seemingly they seem to ignore his "wary of new people" bit in his bio, and those who have applied want a friendly dog who is ok with meeting everyone. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introvert? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. He just needs someone who understands he isn't too fond of people until he feels safe with them. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. No trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parents! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! If you are interested in finding out more about Blitz, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO-A-67 Blitz is being fostered in Grafton. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
I’m looking for a very specific home for my dog, Titan—a 4-year-old boxer/bullmastiff mix (about 65 lbs). Titan is incredibly loyal, affectionate, and forms strong bonds with his person. Once he trusts you, he is calm, loving, and wants to stay close. He does best in a structured environment with clear boundaries and consistency. He is not a dog for everyone. Titan is wary of strangers and needs slow, controlled introductions to new people. He is most comfortable in a low-traffic home without frequent visitors. There was a past incident where he bit a family member’s hand during a high-stress situation when multiple people were around him and he was being handled near his face. The injury required medical attention but was not severe, and there has not been a pattern of repeated incidents. With proper structure and awareness of his boundaries, he has been manageable and stable. Titan would do best in:
• An adult-only home (no children)
• A low-traffic environment
• Someone experience

Story
Meet Millie – Adventure Buddy, Blanket Burrito, and Professional Snuggler! After a long journey through foster care and overcoming some medical challenges, Millie is more than ready to find the forever family she's been waiting for. This sweet girl has blossomed into the perfect combination of outdoor adventurer and couch companion. Millie loves making the most of every day. Whether she's hiking miles of scenic trails, playing fetch in the yard, joining the family for errands, or riding shotgun on a car adventure, she's always eager to be part of the action. She recently conquered a 6.2-mile hike at Wachusett Mountain like a champ and politely shared the trail with people, children, and dogs alike. When the adventures are over, Millie transforms into a world-class snuggler. She loves curling up on the couch, soaking up belly rubs, handing out gentle kisses, and settling in with her favorite chew toy. One of her most adorable quirks? She loves blankets and will happily tuck herself completely underneath one for a cozy nap. Sometimes she even perches on the back of the couch like a cat! Millie is fully house-trained, smart as can be, and eager to learn. She already knows sit, down, paw, and fetch, and she's working on adding even more tricks to her resume. Since she's highly food motivated, training is both fun and rewarding for her. She gets along well with other dogs and could also live with dog-savvy cats Like many dogs who have been through a lot, Millie has a few things her future family should know. Some unfamiliar men can make her nervous at first, but patience, treats, and positive introductions help her warm up quickly. She also takes her freedom very seriously—if she gets loose, she'll happily turn it into a neighborhood adventure! Because of this, her family will need to be diligent about leashes, doors, and secure outdoor time. What makes Millie truly special is her joyful spirit. Despite the challenges she's faced, she wakes up every day ready for fun, affection, and whatever adventure comes next. She is ready to start the next chapter of her life. Could that chapter be with you?

Story
Meet Jill! 🌸 Jill is a sweet, affectionate girl with a constantly wagging tail and a heart full of love. She thrives on companionship and enjoys being close to her people, whether she's relaxing on the couch, napping after a walk, or greeting you in the morning with one of her favorite squeaky toys. Her adorable morning routine includes happy circles, tail wags, and plenty of requests for pets and attention. Jill is a low-energy dog who enjoys a relaxed lifestyle. She loves short daily walks, naps throughout the day, and spending time with her family. One of Jill's favorite activities is going for car rides. Just mentioning a ride gets her excited. Jill is a smart girl who knows several commands, including sit, give paw (both paws!), and lay down. Because she is highly food motivated, treats are a great way to continue building her skills and confidence. Jill would do best with an adopter who understands that she can be selective around other dogs. She has made great progress with positive reinforcement training and treats, and would thrive with an adopter who can support her ongoing training. If you're looking for a gentle, devoted dog who will greet you every day with a wagging tail and a happy heart, Jill may be the perfect match for you. 🌸
