Story
Meet Marla, the Energizing Puppy! Marla is your typical puppy—bursting with energy, love, and a zest for life! She is around 1 year old and 25lbs! This adorable doll thrives on playtime, especially outside where she can run, chase after toys, and soak up the fresh air. She's currently mastering her leash skills and is making great progress! Marla loves other dogs and kids 12+! Despite facing some challenges, sweet Marla remains a shining light of joy. She has experienced trauma to her right eye, but after two vet consultations, it was determined that while she can't see out of that eye, it’s safe to leave it in. The injury is scarred over and doesn't cause her any pain. With several antibiotic drops, her eye is on the mend. Marla’s happy spirit is unshakeable, and her playful, loving nature continues to shine through. She's a joyful little pup ready to bring happiness to a loving home! Story
Howdy from Texas! My name is Tank, and I am a handsome Boxer/Mastiff mix, almost 1-year-old, about 80 lbs, and I was hanging out at a convenience store in Castroville, Texas, trying to make friends with the customers so someone would take me home. Thankfully, my plan worked when a lady pulled up in her car, and she is now my foster mom. I have been having a fun time playing with the other foster dogs while getting ready for adoption… vaccines, neuter, microchip, preventatives, lots of love and socialization, although I was already social, LOL! I am a super friendly boy who gets along great with all people, young and old, other dogs, and kitty cats. I have gobs of energy and enjoy playtime and outdoor activities like walking, hiking, camping, tug-of-war, running zoomies, or any kind of adventure! I am good on a leash and love rides in the car, and I’ll jump right in on my own when you call me. Fun fact: I am a total foodie! I’ll eat any treat offered, but I especially like carrots. I am also the affectionate type, not embarrassed to share kisses or snuggle beside you on the sofa. I am a very nice playmate for grownups, kids, or dogs, and although I will retrieve a ball when thrown, I’m still learning to bring it back to you. I’m well-behaved, housebroken, doggy-door trained, and I do not guard my food or toys. As a matter of fact, one of my doggy friends and I will frequently share food bowls. I am just a very nice boy and a total looker who can rock a bowtie, and I know I will make a wonderful forever dog! Inquire about me today. * 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

Story
Sheeba is a lovable, playful 5 year old Boxer mix with a gentle heart and a fun loving spirit. She can be a little cautious when meeting new people, but once she feels comfortable, she’s incredibly affectionate offering sweet eye contact, taking treats gently, and lots of love. Sheeba adores squeaky toys and balls (and is happy to trade them for treats!), walks nicely on leash, and enjoys staying close to her handler. She may show mild reactivity to other dogs, especially if they react first, but she’s easy to manage and eager to please. Best suited for a home with teens and up, Sheeba is looking for a family ready to give her plenty of playtime, attention, and cuddles. Story
Meet Mac – A Loyal Guardian Looking for the Right Home Mac is a 6-month-old Dogo Argentino with a big heart and an even bigger future. He currently weighs 65 pounds and is expected to grow to at least 100 pounds, potentially reaching 140 pounds at maturity. The Dogo Argentino is a powerful, purpose-bred working dog developed from the Córdoba Fighting Dog, Great Dane, Spanish Mastiff, Pyrenean Mastiff, and Dogue de Bordeaux. This is not a breed for first-time dog owners. Dogos were bred to protect humans and hunt wild boar, and they require confident, experienced handling. Mac is seeking an adult-only home with proven experience in protection or guardian breeds, such as Mastiffs, Boerboels, Cane Corsos, or similar. Despite their strength, Dogos are known for being: • Extremely loyal • Loving and people-oriented • Intelligent and stubborn • High prey drive Mac is currently at a critical developmental stage and will need a handler who provides clear structure, strict boundaries, and consistency. For this reason, Mac must be enrolled in a structured training program prior to adoption. What Mac Already Knows: • Crate trained • Housebroken • Living successfully with 7 other dogs • Foster is actively working on: • Basket muzzle training • Leash walking • Basic obedience (place, sit, stay) Mac is not particularly food motivated and is currently being hand-fed to help build engagement and motivation during training. His adopter must be willing to continue this work and invest time into his development. While Mac is currently social with other dogs, it is a breed trait for Dogos to sometimes become dog-selective as they mature. If placed with another dog, he would do best with a female companion. Mac is an incredible dog who will thrive with the right experienced home—one that understands the responsibility and reward of owning a powerful guardian breed. 👉 Fill out an application today to meet Mac:

Story
Cali's Story Meet Cali Cali is a stunning 4 year old American Bully mix whose life has been filled with challenges, but also incredible resilience. Her journey with Almost Home began after her previous owner passed away, leaving her and three other dogs in the care of a well-meaning father who simply couldn’t provide what they needed. Cali spent her days in an outdoor kennel and her nights in a crate. Evidence suggests she had at least one litter of puppies. The overcrowded living situation and lack of spay/neuter caused tension among the dogs, leading to conflicts and stress. When Cali first arrived at Almost Home, she was emotionally shut down. Over time, we watched her slowly open up and show her true, loving spirit. She was adopted two years ago, but sadly returned after her owner moved and could not take her along. Once again, she is feeling overwhelmed and shut down, but we know this brave girl can blossom with the right family. Cali adores one on one time in the yard with her favorite humans. She thrives on companionship, gentle affection, and patient reassurance. Given her past, Cali is currently unsure around other dogs. At this time, we feel she would do best as the only dog in the home, though a meet and greet can be arranged. She should also be in a cat-free home. Because she is initially nervous, a home with children 10+ would be ideal. Cali’s story is one of strength, survival, and hope. Now she needs someone willing to give her the stability, patience, and love she has always deserved. If you’d like to be part of Cali’s fresh start, please submit an application at AlmostHomeLI.org. Let’s give this beautiful girl the safe and loving home she’s been waiting for.
