Story
I have had Brooklyn since she is 7 weeks old. I found her alone with 2 of her siblings in a field. I took her to the vet and then home. She quickly became a huge part of my life. Brooklyn is a sweet old girl. Wonderful with kids- I have a 6 year old. She is crate trained as well as house broken. Her birthday is 11/15/13. Brooklyn cannot eat shellfish but other than that, she has no restrictions. She is always up for a nice walk or chasing a ball. Her favorite kinds of toys are stuffed animals with squeakers. She’s a tug of war champion. She loves to roll in the grass and lay on the sun. She doesn’t bark much- only if she senses danger. She loves having her ears scratched and belly rubs. She complies with some commands. It breaks my heart to rehome her but I cannot take her with me on this move to a new home. She’s truly a wonderful dog and deserves to live out the rest of her years with a loving family who will give her the best life.

Story
Quill is waiting a very long time to find a forever family. This handsome fella arrived to the shelter after his owner passed away; without any other family coming forward to take him in, he was brought to the animal shelter. This fella was adopted and returned 3 more times until finally coming back to the shelter in April 2021 where he is waiting to be adopted...Forever. All the people who promised him a forever family failed him; and we want to assist him as he follows his heart and finds his TRUE FOREVER Family!! He knows what a home is like, he had that - once upon a time. Quill is 7 yrs old and absolutely stunning!! He is playful with toys, responds to sit, paw and social with other dogs (Yay!). This 74 pound rock-star is appropriate for homes with kids at least 15 yrs old, and while he does love to meet a new person, all introductions need to be slow. Quill has been living in the shelter so long, this is his safe space, he will need some time to decompress from shelter life; but we know in the right home, surrounded by his forever family; he is going to continue to thrive and blossom with you! For more information on Quill, please contact The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:Adoption@hempsteadny.govRescue@hempsteadny.gov516-785-5220

Story
Beau Foster/Home Needed – Long Island, NY Meet Beau. He’s a sweet 9 yr old boxer mix. Beau had a very hard first 6 yrs of his life. He was found in the street, hit by a car. A local shelter took him in and treated him. They had him for 2 yrs where he had to be in a cage by himself because he does not do well with other animals. Beau is a big boy; a 100lb gentle giant. A local elderly man heard Beau’s story, went to meet him and he fell in love. He brought Beau home in Aug 2020. He and his new dad were a perfect team!! They took multiple long walks every day, played fetch for hours and were great buds. Sadly, his dad passed away. Family took Beau in, but it isn’t working as he needs to be the only animal in the home. They are heartbroken because Beau is a very loyal, very sweet and very lovable. He’s also pretty smart! When he meets people, he sits & gives his paw to say hi. He knows his commands: stop, sit, give me your paw, drop it. He loves a good walk. He’s up to date with all his shots. If you’re looking for a loyal, handsome, gentle giant in your life, please contact adoptions@paws-li.org or go to our FB page or call the number listed below.
