Story
Beau Foster/Home Needed – Long Island, NY Meet Beau. He’s a sweet 9 yr old boxer mix. Beau had a very hard first 6 yrs of his life. He was found in the street, hit by a car. A local shelter took him in and treated him. They had him for 2 yrs where he had to be in a cage by himself because he does not do well with other animals. Beau is a big boy; a 100lb gentle giant. A local elderly man heard Beau’s story, went to meet him and he fell in love. He brought Beau home in Aug 2020. He and his new dad were a perfect team!! They took multiple long walks every day, played fetch for hours and were great buds. Sadly, his dad passed away. Family took Beau in, but it isn’t working as he needs to be the only animal in the home. They are heartbroken because Beau is a very loyal, very sweet and very lovable. He’s also pretty smart! When he meets people, he sits & gives his paw to say hi. He knows his commands: stop, sit, give me your paw, drop it. He loves a good walk. He’s up to date with all his shots. If you’re looking for a loyal, handsome, gentle giant in your life, please contact adoptions@paws-li.org or go to our FB page or call the number listed below. Story
Emmy is a 6-month-old boxer/lab mix who comes to us from a local animal control where she was an owner surrender by someone whose dog had a litter. She currently weighs 27lbs and has already been with us for 2 months. We have not idea why this pup has not been snatched up already! This little beauty is all puppy love and sweetness. She is curious and likes to meet new people. Emmy will need to learn her basic commands and work on her housetraining, but she is eager to please and up for the challenge! Dog Gone Smart in Norwalk has been kind enough to offer some free training classes for her and her new adopter. She looks forward to going to DGS on Wednesday to swim. Emmy loves to play with other dogs and she can occupy herself with balls and toys as well. Emmy is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccinations.

Story
Mikey is our 1 1/2 year old Boxer mix (we have his DNA results!) Who was found as a stray on someone's property and brought here. He's a gentle soul, just out of puppyhood who loves snuggling up for pets, tossing his toys around and especially playing with other dogs. He's a star in the playgroups who display's appropriate boundaries while running around with other dogs. During his time with a foster family, he learned to be respectful of the senior dog there and happily shared his toys with no resource guarding (including food!) Mikey is enthusiastic with toys when playing with people, so he's learning to wait and take toys on cue. Mikey can be reactive on leash, especially in new places, so we suggest continued training in his new home. His foster reported that he enjoyed baths (including the dryer) and has been a dream riding in the car. We hear he mastered house training quickly in his foster home, indicating when he needed to go out. He is a smart, energetic dog who learns commands quickly and is crate trained. Although he would thrive living with another dog, over all, Mikey would do well in a home that provides structure with fun activities including walks and playtime with other dogs.
