Story
This is Nala she is 8 years old I got her from the SPCA when she was 4. She is the friendliest and most affectionate cat I’ve ever had. She was shy at first but after some getting used to she loves attention and belly rubs. She loves to lay in your lap the second you sit down. She gets a long with children well. My daughter sometimes pulls her tail unknowingly and Nala doesn’t even flinch. She initially did not get along with a kitten we brought home a few years ago but after a few weeks they are practically inseparable and sleep together every night. It would amazing if someone here would be interested in taking both cats so they may stay together. Information on the second cat will be in a seperate post. Nala is well house trained and has been an indoor cat her whole life. She loves playing with small cat toys, her favorite is a laser pointer. I hope her and our other cat find a home together. It’s unfortunate but due to new living circumstances we must rehome the cats. Thanks for re

I adopted Squeakers in roughly 2010 as a young cat. Job relocation has forced me to re-home her. She would be best as an only pet. Squeakers has lived with cats and dogs previously and was very unhappy.

Story
Our family adopted Penny from the Elk Grove Animal shelter in 2022. When we brought her home she was timid but within a week she warmed up to our family. We are a family of 4. 2 young kids. At the time we had 2 dogs and another cat. She got along with all of them very well. She’s very quiet. Her meow is hard to hear. She’s a sweetheart once she warms up. She likes to cuddle and be pet. She has recently started to pee outside of the litter box. She never did this before. This has only been happening this last month. It does not happen all the time. It’s starting to be overwhelming for me to keep up with. I would love to rehome her to someone or a family that would have time to work with her. She’s so sweet.

Sweet young female. Enjoys snuggling on laps. She loves the outdoors but has adjusted to being indoors only. We love her but she’s having problems with our male cat and think it’s best to separate them.

Story
Meet Beautiful Dot, Dot was rescued in the middle of July during a heat wave with her mom and brother Saddle without any resources to food or water. We knew time was against them and the little family was safely brought into their foster home. She was very malnourished and did great with her recovery. Dot is very loving and really enjoys to cuddle and play often with her brother and foster friends, she’s also good with cat friendly dogs. Dot would do best in a home without small children because they scare her. She really appreciates lounging around in a calmer environment. Dot loves cat tunnels and toys with feathers.

Story
Gabriela and Lucas were found abandoned, dirty and malnourished when they were about five weeks old. Found by their foster mother, who brought them back to health and has raised them both as siblings with an abundance of love care. They do well with other cats, but have expressed fear with dogs when exposed. It’s possible they could warm up to them over time if the dogs were calm and non-threatening, but full disclosure they were fearful the first time they met any. They would well with a quieter calm home and with older gentle children who are respectful of animals. Gabriela is more reserved at first, but once she is given the confidence of love she begins to reveal her loving personality. She is playful and loving. just like her brother Lucas. Both Lucas and Gabriela have built a strong bond with one another that is unbreakable and are always together. They bring out the best in each other and are looking for a loving home together as they are a bonded pair. Lucas is very out going and loves to make his presence known. He loves to play and loves making new friends. Once you pick him up he begins to show you his appreciation with his outgoing purr. If you think Gabriela and Lucas would be a good fit for your family, and you can provide them with a safe, indoor only life, please submit an application on our website at www.secondchancekitty.org today! All Second Chance Kitty cats are free-fed a quality dry food with low or no grain and are STRICTLY INDOOR ONLY. Studies have proven cats live longer, healthier lives and on average require less financial burdens at veterinary offices when they are kept indoor only. There are so many predators out there, both human and animal and it is sadly unsafe to let them roam unattended. All of our babes come altered, microchipped, vaccinated, rabies (if age appropriate), FeLV/FIV negative unless stated otherwise , dewormed, flea treated, litter box trained and full of love. Our adoption fees are a minimum $150 donation. Anything beyond $150 helps rescue another babe. Adoption isn't an impulsive decision, it must be thought out carefully. Owning a cat is a 15 to 20+ year commitment. Can we afford a cat? If we're renting do they allow pets here? Is there a pet deposit? Can we afford the pet deposit? What if we get sick, what if the kitty becomes ill and has to see a veterinarian? Kitty requires routine check-ups, annual vaccines, quality food, litter and toys, can we afford this? These are all questions a responsible pet owner must ask themselves. If you can make this type of commitment please take a moment and visit our website at www.secondchancekitty.org to submit an application. Second Chance Kitty is a local non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to assisting cats, kittens and an occasional dog, escape a life of abandonment, abuse and neglect.

Story
Meet Hunter! Hunter came to Second Chance Kitty as a small kitten. He contracted feline herpes and calicivirus as a kitten. These types of kitties are hard to adopt out and a good friend took him and Mister Mistofaleas (same issues) and gave them a loving my home and family. Unfortunately, their good luck ran out and their foster mom passed away from cancer. He and mister are back with us again. They are very nice cats and love affection. They get along well with other cats and cat friendly dogs, as his former owner had three dogs. Hunter annd Mister Mistofaleas eat both dry (free fed) and wet food (evening). These sweet boys are ready to be someone’s sweetheart again either alone or together. Their needs are the same as any cat, love, quality food and care. They sometimes have a little runny nose and sneeze occasionally but full disclosure. They’re GREAT CATS. If you think Hunter and/or Mister Mistofaleas would be a perfect fit for your family and you can provide him/them with an indoor only life, please submit an application today at www.secondchancekitty.org.
