Story
Sky is a beautiful 10-year-old calico. My wife has had her for most of her life, when she rescued her from her initial owner. Sky likes to keep to herself, look out windows, and find treats in stimulating toys. Sky has severe inflammatory bowel disease and is always hungry, though she can’t seem to put on weight. She has gotten consistent veterinary care and is up to date on all shots and check-ups. We are looking to rehome Sky due to multiple factors. She is fine with dogs who don’t bark at her or chase her, but we have a dog whose primary interest in life is doing both of those things. It is highly stressful for Sky, despite our best efforts and extensive dog training and other changes we have made. Additionally, she needs continued vet care to get to the bottom of her complex IBD, which we can no longer afford. Her need to eat many times a day due to her IBD (wet food - she refuses kibble) has also become financially unsustainable. We hope that Sky can find the right forever home!

Our family adopted Penny from the Elk Grove Animal shelter in 2022. When we brought her home she was timid but within a week she warmed up to our family. We are a family of 4. 2 young kids. At the time we had 2 dogs and another cat. She got along with all of them very well. She’s very quiet. Her meow is hard to hear. She’s a sweetheart once she warms up. She likes to cuddle and be pet. She has recently started to pee outside of the litter box. She never did this before. This has only been happening this last month. It does not happen all the time. It’s starting to be overwhelming for me to keep up with. I would love to rehome her to someone or a family that would have time to work with her. She’s so sweet.

She loves her humans and loves to be pet and get on your lap. She forces pets herself on me all the time lol. She is just under a lot of stress at her current home because there is too much going on. Even though she is a shy girl, she allows the kids to pet her and sometimes even rubs up on the dogs. When I first got her she was super scared and took a while to come out of her shell. I let her have a room to herself until she felt comfortable venturing out. She would really love a home that is quiet/calm and a human that gives her lots of love. This is Nala she is 8 years old I got her from the SPCA when she was 4. She is the friendliest and most affectionate cat I’ve ever had. She was shy at first but after some getting used to she loves attention and belly rubs. She loves to lay in your lap the second you sit down. She gets a long with children well. My daughter sometimes pulls her tail unknowingly and Nala doesn’t even flinch. She initially did not get along with a kitten we brought home a few years ago but after a few weeks they are practically inseparable and sleep together every night. It would amazing if someone here would be interested in taking both cats so they may stay together. Information on the second cat will be in a seperate post. Nala is well house trained and has been an indoor cat her whole life. She loves playing with small cat toys, her favorite is a laser pointer. I hope her and our other cat find a home together. Brief BioStevie came to the shelter in March 2024 and was diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) which causes her to have uncoordinated movement. During her time in foster, I found her CH to be very mild. She can still walk and run normally and use her litter box, but you will notice a slight wobble in between. A home that can provide her accommodation to refrain from climbing high objects such as a cat tree is recommended. You can see more of Stevie on instagram: @fellowfosters Summary of PersonalityStevie is an affectionate cat who loves to play and be held. Her favorite toy is her mouse and loves to carry it around with her. She is an easy going cat especially with things like nail trimming. Stevie has built so much confidence since she came into foster. She was initially skittish to loud sounds and sudden movement, but was quick to regulate. Slow introductions to change is recommended for her.Home Life (experience with kids & other pets, etc)Stevie had done well with my adult resident cats and my German shepherd dog. She is mindful of their space and initiates play. Stevie has not met kids during her stay with me, but I think she will do fine with them.Is your foster litter box trained?Yes
